Now, I'm just going to vent some of my frustrations. The last couple of Shounen anime/manga that I have watched or read have used a most soul destroying ending.

The timeskip.

That moment when the hero comes back from a trip where he's been training or whatever just in time to say goodbye to his friends. Honestly, it kills me inside. I don't feel like it offers me, personally, enough closure whatsoever. The story doesn't end there, clearly, but it's like the mangaka couldn't think of anymore obstacles to overcome - although, some might argue that's what inevitably makes a story end up dragging and becoming pointless.

But still, I just get those unwelcome blues every time that happens. I don't want to see my hero come back looking like a badass without seeing what he's been through, I want to experience it with him like I have done before in all those other episodes or chapters - maybe it's just me that gets this attached to a story, but does anyone else feel like this?

Ending right in the middle of or before the climactic battle the anime has built up to. Say what you will about anime-only endings, but at least they are endings. Shows that can't even be bothered to properly end are just cruel.

yes, but not only in shounens; it's common for time skips to have that effect on viewers

I hate the endings where the MC gets screwed over.

EDIT: Assuming the MC isn't a total ass who I want to see fail like well I'll just say certain characters since the spoiler tag failed. :D

Lol this ending though, I am still like o_O

Congratulations Shinji

I'm pretty content with any kind of ending of an anime. However, a cliff hanger ending that is open ended for a sequel is my least favourite. If the anime doesn't get a sequel, a unicorn dies. THINK OF THE UNICORNS YOU MONSTERS.

Least favourite?

- Unanswered questions
- Huge timeskip to the future with no explanation
- "Reset" ending (You know that stupid Key anime that did it LOL and the yuri assassin show from last season)
- IN THE MIDDLE OF A TOURNAMENT (Fcking Yowamushi Pedal omg I love it but fckkkk)

Cancellation before it's done, or whatever happened to the first "part" of Fairy Tail (there's a continuation now, but the art looks shittier, just look at Gajeel before and now)

And when the anime ending deviates from the manga and this shitty ending is spawned, which gives no hope for a second season. (Ao no Exorcist)

I don't like endings in general... They are just too sad for me, I get attached to the characters and want to keep watching and watching until I get tired of it on my own accord.

But yeah endings are inevitable, I have learned to deal with it. Sooo I would have to say "harem endings where the MC never picks one girl T.T" I hate those endings(despite how much I love the ecchi xD)

Jizzy as you would call yourself because youre a dick The most butthurt award goes to you And clearly you havent watched that many shows thats why you cant determine if a show is unique or not Or maybe you're just a child who likes common stuffs where hero saves the day and guys gets all the girls. Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

I reckon when True Blood ends it'll be much worse, although it's been a train wreck for a while.

Incomplete endings where a second season isn't possible or has a low chance of being created due to insufficient sales/views, writer dies/retires/gives up, etc, even though the show sets up for a second season.

Btoom! Is a big one but there are others that I don't feel like listing.

My least favorite ending is when they leave it with enough unanswered question to get a second season, but me and you both know there wont be one.

Least favourite ending for me would be where the Most Memorable Character (The character that you put on the front cover of the anime poster and is the main appeal of the anime) completely disappears from the story halfway through the last episode and then they always have an epilogue scene months/years later showing how the characters have moved on and then low and behold that character comes back again in like the last minute or so usually without any explanation for some emotional reunion bullshit.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen a timeskip in the last chapter/episode pulled off well. Even the one in Ping Pong felt rushed unfortunately.

I hate the all the main characters die ending. It doesn't matter how good the anime is.One could argue that the episodes between the first and last episode are like a wonderful ride. But what good is pleasant ride if you drive off a cliff? It just makes me feel like my time was wasted watching the show.

It's a tough decision between Congratulations and an anime only ending. Better to just branch the ending off into the manga such as in Sankarea and Ga Rei: Zero rather than have some concrete ending separate from the original content.

This ending had me like

The ending I hate most though, is a happy ending with no logic or with cliche stuff (EX. SAO). Happy endings are nice if they are excecuted correctly though.
