| Rushed first episode, as is typical of most anime and ultra-typical of 1-cours. I just hope the rest isn't as high paced. Nonetheless, this was still amazing and I will probably very much enjoy this show. |
| Interesting episode though it hasn't gotten me hooked yet. Now that most of the characters have been introduced let's see how episode 2 goes. | I've just started the series. I really like the plot - the theme of going to an island where you can be one with nature and also learn about human relationships which are taken for granted in the city. I do love watching character development! Nice ep and introduction. |

| I watched Handa-kun and found out it's a prequel for this anime. So I decided to give it a try and I'm not disappointed. Loved this anime and the atmosphere of this anime is definitely going to be different from all-comedy Handa-kun. Though this anime also has some good comedy itself (the ending when Handa is doing his calligraphy while laughing like a maniac and the village chief stands there all scared LOL). |
| Really charming first episode. Naru is a lot of fun, but I especially like the contrast between her and Handa's personality. There's a sensible atmosphere, the art is pretty and the visual gags work pretty well, too. In the scene where the villagers are gathering at Handa's place and he meets Hina, Naru was consistently drawn off-model for at least 5 seconds. I really enjoyed this, as imperfection itself is exactly what Handa needs in his calligraphy. |

| Amazing first episode. Naru is adorable, as are her interactions with Handa. The fact she's voiced by a child seiyuu makes it even better. And I'm in love with the OP. |

| I’ve been meaning to give this series a shot for a long time now and this is an interesting introductory episode to start with. Main character punching the lights out of the director, that sure came out of nowhere xD. Airport scene was kind of funny too, lol. Emptiness is real, I see. Village head and Naru, in particular, has got serious rolling skill and whatnot lol. Final scene with the whole village coming to welcome him was heartwarming though. Op and ED are pretty cool with a touch of flair which is great. Looking forward to more right now! |

| The animation is very well done. The OP is lively and fun. I can see this show will have strong character development already. Honda being so serious and then thrown into a slow-paced environment with a heap of interesting characters. I laughed outloud when Kotoishi had the corn snacks on her fingers. She is so precious! Just SO cute. The scene where the villagers came to help was so touching. There is the perfect amount of comedy and gentleness to this. I think I'm really going to like it. |

| Hadn’t ever heard of this one before but I think I’ve seen Naru around, and when I saw Crunchyroll had this on their Blu-ray sale recently it caught my interest, and damn am I glad it did, this is 100% right up my ally. The countryside setting definitely takes me back to Non Non Biyori, and of course the little kid character Naru does that as well, but the MC being an adult shakes it up a bit, especially giving his circumstances. Based on this first episode I can tell this man is about to go on a healing journey and you can already see it here, that sunset scene was very very nice. And of course I gotta mention that Naru is hilarious, I like that she actually sounds like a kid too, part of it could be the dialect but I really like the voice acting for sure. And I’m definitely a big fan of that OP and ED, the ED especially but they’re both great and very fitting for the show. And lastly, man this was in Summer 2014 huh, this was around my earliest anime days, and I see Himegoto was in this season and I actually remember checking that one out but I never finished it lol, maybe I should do that at some point. |
| I knew straight away he was about to punch that old man, but man still, they really didn't need to make a slow motion sequence out of it too lol A really good first episode all things considered. I don't think we'd see a change in Handa this soon, but we will eventually, given now the kind of people he's surrounded with. And yeah, then there is Naru too. The amount of content I've watched around this series and Handa over all these times is pretty good in quantity, so I already know I'll have a good time with this. |
