Episode 12
[spoiler]
Another okay episode with some funny moments and the awesome baseball scene, but nothing too fancy. The finale looks promising though, I hope it delivers.
Vicious' bird. Why stop at Cowboy Bebop?
Alternatively, this also feels kinda Evangelion.
Piowhatsuhsuh?
Who knew you'd randomly catch Dandy's trial while watching Court TV.
Adding "super" to your weapon name makes it sound cooler.
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE.
"Theoretically, there are a countless number of universes parallel to our own. However, we have never been able to crossover to these other dimensions nor even have a glimpse of their actual existence. That being said, we know of connections that run through the dimensions called cosmic strings. These strings can be pulled out into one universe using mega pionium. By gaining control of these connections, we should be able to manipulate any possibility. Some might even call such a feat the work of God. Only one man in the universe holds that key…Dandy."
There you go, in-universe logic for the anthology nature of the show.
Of course, we dropped into the middle of a war.
Looking very Gundam right about now.
What a twist.
I think we need to talk feelings.
It's so.
Now that I get a closer look at the Super Hulkider, that might be a glorified Lance of Longinus.
Shortly afterwards, we see Evangelion-style cross explosions.
What another twist.
A hidden Daltanias appears!
KING OF ALL THE THINGS.
Surf's up.
I think we're being attacked. D:
Lol at the cartoony FX.
I really hope Bahi JD gets more work after this, because that whole Little Aloha chase scene to the tower is ridiculous. Here's Johnny.
Haha Gel is furious.
One last Scarlett kickass scene. :D
Go, Dandy…I believe.
Yeah, I'm not even surprised the climax of the series is Dandy blasting off into the Kanada Dragon to unleash the naked powered-by-booty Lady Liberty cutting through the snake defense force with her laser sword. Wait, it's not even over yet. Then, Dandy flies out naked and punches the fuck out of the super mega death weapon, destroying the universe. Like, it already sounds ridiculously awesome on paper and the execution is just top notch stuff. Not to mention, the music for all this is soooooo good.
The narrator is God? Wonderful.
I don't remember anything.
"You are someone who can conceivably be one and the same, while simultaneously existing in all other universes. In other words, you are the one and only being who can freely pass between the different dimensions."
This is more than a "whoa", Dandy.
He once became Buddhandy at the end of the Space Race episode, but never again.
This is the stupidest idea ever.
Boobies>God.
This decision means the world will have no God!
Stay Dandy, baby.
Then, it literally goes out with a bang as Dandy recreates the universe and the show ends as it began, except it's all about the legs now.
"May be continued?"
The BONES director mentioned a possible movie if the series was successful enough, so we'll see.
I already liked the first batch of episodes quite a bit and the second half was even better at displaying its diverse creativity from episode to episode as an animator's playground. 9/10
Ep 13
[spoiler]
Definitely one of the best episodes of the seasons. I feel like it was all going downhill after episode 8, but this one was pretty awesome. Lots of references and typical Dandy attitude saving the universe... err leaving it godless. Looking forward to that movie if they ever make it. I'd say the best episodes were 1, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 13 The others really fell flat for me, but those ones helped keep the series interesting. So [b]8/10
"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."
-Friedrich Nietzsche
Not much else to say. It was decent. Loved the baseball content. Looking forward to the finale.
Episode 13
Wasn't expecting the series to tie together at the end like that. The insanity this episode reminded me of the other "wild ride" anime endings like TTGL, KlK, and Valvrave. I loved it. I loved it even more when Dandy turned down being god because of boobies, lol. It was truly a fantastic ending and went out the way this series deserved to go out. I'm going to miss it, baby! I give it a high 8/10 (88%).
Episode 13
[spoiler]
Up to episode 8 this was considerably better than season 1, but after that the episodes were kinda 'meh', but since this finale was pretty great at least I managed to hand out a (low) 8/10. But no matter how much I loved some episodes, if there are a bunch of episodes that I just didn't care about it's more of a generuous 'paying respects' to the overall concept and variety than a representation of my average enjoyment level for each episode. But what the hell, the show deserves it for that alone.
I'll definitely miss Dandy and will probably rewatch some of my favorite episodes in the future :)
Brian's description of the show as an animator's playground was a really good one. That's basically a large part of what this show was, and honestly, I've given out 9s for worse. So it scrapes a 9/10 (88%) from me, although I agree it went downhill a bit in the last few episodes. Would definitely watch a film/OVA/further episodes/whatever.
