The first five minutes of the new anime Seitokai no Ichizon, I felt hope for the anime. It made me laugh with the 20+ anime references there were, and I thought that there was finally another good parody anime out there since Lucky Star. However, the following 19 minutes proved me wrong, as my respect for the anime took a downward slope. I do hope that the "anime references" do return in the episodes to come, but by the looks of it, it seems not.

I had the exact same reaction. Initially it seemed like they had managed to invent an entirely new kind of show. Totally disembodied from any structural framework or plot foundation, building itself entirely out of the dialogue occurring among 5 people in a single room -- sort of like Free Jazz anime or something. "This world didn't become dull; you became a dull person."

Then they apparently stopped trying. There's the matter of the subtitles, too. Eclipse's just weren't funny in the same way as gg's, but gg decided they hated it, and stopped after one episode. Well, we'll see.

Yeah, it still has 11 episodes to make up for a mediocre first episodes.

Unbalance is not necessarily bad, and you really have to look at the greater picture of Seitokai.

I mean really, find someone as funny as Sugisaki, in a anime where they really don't do anything, and I'll watch it and give you props for it. I mean who openly admits they want a Harem and even becomes a Valedictorian just for a shot at it?

Mafuyu reminds me of myself, and maybe Steve, so I lol every time.

This show has a serious side to it, and when it ends on it, it is pretty nice.

Also don't tell me you don't laugh when Aka-chan says things and acts like a total kid.
