Monogatari Series: Second Season
| Hi, I'm just wondering what is the standard time it takes to translate and release an anime episode from the time it airs in Japan to when it becomes available in the US. I always wait until a series has a complete tag before I start watching it, so I don't really know how long the wait is, especially for weekly viewers and such. This case is also a bit different cause it's a 5 ep marathon, so I assume it will take a while to have people translate it and release in English? My guess is a week, but if anyone has a more definite idea, please enlighten me xP. |
| It mostly depends how faster RAWs become available (so fansubs can sub them) and how popular a show is. For example, a common animal episode for a very popular series like Shingeki or Kill la Kill were up with subs in several languages just a few hours after airing, unpopular series could take up to months before getting a release. If a series is emitted by services like Crunchyroll it speeds up the process and those seem to leak by the same day too. For OVAS it takes a little longer since RAWs seem to be harder to obtain. And movies are the ones that take the most time since we usually have to wait until DVD/BD release dates before someone starts to sub them (only VERY popular series like Madoka or Evangelion get camrips subbed before them because fans hype). I think that Tsubasa Cat was a similar release and we got it around the same week it was released, so I think the same will apply to Hanamogatari, but don't quote me at this. |

If they pre-translate using the novel as source, then that could speed matters up significantly, but I don't know if that is a common occurrence or not. If it is broadcast on CR or Daisuki, then it'll obviously be available relatively quickly. I don't think it has been announced for that, or at least not yet anyway. |

| Don't worry, Hanamonogatari ain't an infamous show and there're tons of fans who're inpatient to watch it yet all depends on fansubs. |

| I was wondering the same thing. Now a few people in other areas were saying that it just wont be subbed, but theyre probably just the usual haters-- being very polar about the monogatari series, half say it wasn't worth subbing and we should just figure its just going to 4/5ths banter and 1/5th basketball, and the other half support the series. All I know is that I was beside myself with excitement until today and then I figured out that its going to take some time to sub. |

| That's awesome. Instead of being tempted by each single episode's release, I can now calmly sit back and wait for a whole 'movie'. And also nice to have an estimated time of completion. |

| I was reading along with the novel to remind myself what scenes were being skipped. As usual for Monogatari, the dialogue was word for word out of the novel so the fansubbers could have worked ahead. They just had to be prepared to toss out lines from scenes they skipped, do the timing and typesetting, done. No need to listen to the words, they were probably translated years ago on bakatsuki. |
