Usually, I skip the OP, but it happened that this time I was in very very good mood, so I decided to watch it. And found something new! I think this OP is somehow much better, except for one thing, they should already cut the flowers dropping scene. So they change the director? I knew it!! ( well, actually, I didn't until you guys told me haha ) that's why the art looks a bit different and the story turns out to be more comedy like. This ep. made me love every character more and more, especially Eugene, who was shown to be very cute and devoted. He was so ideal that I know I'm not lucky enough to find one in real-life hahaha. ( the Eugene tying up with thorns scene reminds me Oscar from Rose of Versailles :) ) The only thing I hate about this ep. is the expression Li-ren had when he was "shocked" by Lumaty's action. That wasn't himmmm!! Those big round eyes and the out-of-self-collected face, too bad :( . /me looking forward to next ep! |

The OP and ED are outstanding. I especially love the OP swirls/ribbons flying. I love the direction put into it. Now during the actual episode run, I noticed that there's more depth in shadings/colors this time. How the story progressing is good. However, their eyes weirded me out. It's like I am watching Zombie Loan. The comedy and chibis reminded me like I am watching Inuyasha. It feels like I am watching a shounen show rather a shoujo. That being said, I like the eyes style in the past compare to this time. They don't have to change it, IMHO. Even Li-Ren's and Rumaty's reactions were too comical and so off. For Rumaty, it might fit but with Li-Ren's personality, the reaction was way over? I think, he's the type to be cool and should look stoic in most situations. |

The art looked a bit different in this episode...and Li-Ren's facial expressions were FRICKEN WEIRD looking when Lumati threw water at him. Also, Kajika never ceases to piss me off. She's such a...ugh. I don't even know the word. She has feelings for like these guys she just met awhile ago. She barely KNOWS Carl FFS and she's all "BUT I LOVE CARL TOO." (Yes I've said this before but the truth still stands that Kajika's a twit.) Carl should just stay gay, and that'll eliminate him from the competition. Even though Kajika should end up with Li-Ren, I still think he should totally go with Lumati, just for the fact that Lumati obviously wants him <___< Now about Eugene...what? I understand why he's saying what he's saying, but near the beginning, Kajika was so damn set on him because of Mustafa it wasn't even funny. Now she's throwing all this BS in his face like "Oh what if I go out with someone else? Blah blah blah." Stupid witch. Trying to hurt him and crap :/ And why yes, I AM very anti-Kajika. She's probably one of the most stupidest heroines I've ever seen. I can stand Kairi from Kingdom Hearts more than her...and that says a lot. |

I haven't felt a need to comment on an episode until now. W. T. F? I could definitely tell there was a different director heralding this episode. The humor in this episode was just so... off. On a different series it might work, but here it was just wrong. The random Mustafa chibis? Lee-leng's eyes after Rumaty threw water in his face? The scene later when Kajika dumped the juice over Rumaty's head? EEEEEEEGH. And the overall art style was just off. I did not care for the smaller eyes and noses. And the shininess on the body's - ugh. I've never liked that shiny look, ever, and to have it used here turned me off. Those were my biggest grievances. I could handle the moments were random words were shown onscreen even though it felt out of place. But I prefer the way the drama and inner emotional conflict was handled prior to this episode. The series up to this episode wasn't perfect, but it was at least consistent and could competently handle the drama at times. It got too overdramatic occasionally, but at least there wasn't any whiplash gag comedic moments. The characters were really maturing, and suddenly in this episode they just regress. It's like Gurren Lagann episode 4... it's just so off. Thankfully, this doesn't stay for long. I've seen some later episodes, so I know it goes back. Really, I have nothing against the new director - he's probably good at what he does (and for a different series, his style would fit)... but for a series that has long established 23 episodes of a particular style, and to have it suddenly changed for one episode... it just wasn't good. EDIT: Although, I do like the way the last few minutes, with the interview, was handled. I liked the camera angles and how it was interlaced with Lee-leng's own turmoils. I thought the dramatic build-up was well-handled there. Modified by willag, 05-05-12, 7:37 PM |
