Having watched the Early Days OVA and the first movie, and starting to watch the TV series, I actually think that the TV series is the retelling of the OVA and not the movies, for instance a character named Kanuka joins at the beginning of both the OVA and the TV series but under different circumstances. The first movie seems like a random episode later down the line that happens to be fairly more meatier than what the TV series seem to offer, while the second movie is intended to be the final part of the franchise (until the third one rolled out that is), and judging from the opening, it seems considerably more serious than anything in the franchise. The order Takuan_Soho posted does seem to be the correct one to watch it in order, though compared to the TV series, the OVA seems more like an early chance to get a taste from this franchise than anything else, so it's up to you whether you jump into the series with the OVA or the TV series (I personally enjoy the first movie and the TV series considerably more than the OVA, but don't let this affect your choice). |
