CHAPTER ONE: Battle Academy MAL Chapter 1: Battle Academy MAL The warm summer morning sun filtered through the trees as Goh made his way to the city port. Goh looked at the paper in his hands. A form had arrived in his mail over the summer holidays, and Goh had spent the entire time since stressing about it. He read over the letter once more: Congratulations, Goh! You have been chosen for a scholarship at Battle Academy MAL, beginning at the start of the school year! Battle Academy MAL , situated on a private island, is a place where battles decide everything. Battles vary from hand to hand combat, blade battles, firefights, and many more variations. Our school bases your status and privileges on your ranking within the school battle system. To raise your ranks, win duels against higher ranked opponents, obtain a higher score than a higher ranked student in battle simulations, or participate in general tourneys and battles around the school campus. An annual tournament is held each year, where the top 100 ranked students, battle it out in a Battle-Royale, to try an snag the School Champion Title. If you accept this scholarship, sign your name on the bottom of this form and hand it to the BAMAL contact at your designated port, living-space will be prepared in the dormitories on campus, each scholar will bunk with a room-mate. Regards Former Principal Alistair. Battle Academy MAL, huh? Goh whispered to himself looking up from the paper. It all sounded like a big prank to Goh. Hed never heard of any place called Battle Academy MAL. Regardless, he had still signed his name down the bottom of the paper. Something about this form seemed legitimate. Goh was prepared at anytime to trade in his boring life for something more interesting. Also, it was true. Goh had always had a high aptitude for combat. Weilding a weapon or going fistycuffs against an opponent had always been natural to him. Goh cut through an alley and exited to the port on the otherside. The port looked completely deserted, save for one figure standing on the dock and a small ferry positioned beside it. As Goh closed in he saw that the man wore a business suit and had a clipboard in his right hand. 'You must be Goh.' the man said. 'I'm your local BAMAL contact. Do you have your form?' Goh handed the form to the man. 'Excellent. Please board the ferry sir, we are departing now. Goh reluctantly boarded the ferry. There was already someone inside. It was a male who looked to be in his late teens sat in the back corner seat looking out of the window. He didn't even take a glance. He had silver curtained hair with a scar spanning from under his right eye to his chin. From where Goh was standing, he thought he could see a glint of red shining from his eyes. There seemed to be a dark aura surrounding this man. One black katana and one white katana lay on the seat next to him. He must be a swordsman, Goh thought to himself. Goh sat in the row of seats opposite the other boy. The ferry started up and started propelling into the bay. 'I'm Goh. Nice to meet you.' he said to the mysterious boy. 'Fascinating.' the boy replied without even turning to face him. Goh shuffled in his seat. 'This whole thing is pretty far-fetched huh?' Goh said attemting to further the conversation. The boy tutted. 'Sure.' he replied. Goh was feeling uneasy. 'So... What's your name?' The boy turned to face Goh. 'If I tell you, will you stop talking to me?' Goh blinked. 'Sure.' the boy ran his hand through his hair. 'Just call me Red. Or rather, don't. Don't talk to me at all.' Red picked up his white sword. 'This is my favourite sword.' He said staring into Goh's eyes. 'You can see the blood clearer when you slice through someone's flesh.' Goh didn't want to want the conversation to continue any further. He simply stared at the floor beneath his feet until the boat ride was over. After about half an hour the boat stopped and the PA System sounded. We have reached our destination. Please step off the boat. Your guide will be waiting outside. Red left the boat before Goh even stood up. Goh blocked the sun by putting his hand above his eyes as he left the ferry. What he saw took his breath away. End of Chapter CHAPTER TWO: Entry Exams Chapter 2: Entry Exams The school was like a modern castle. Nestled in the canopy of tropical trees, on the horizon lay a series of buildings towering at least two-hundred meters tall and the width of the entire land mass. The path leading to the school was long, but looked like a peaceful walk. The air smelt clean. Goh closed his eyes. What a peaceful place. It's almost as though something is calling to me... 'EXCUSE ME!' the voice sounded annoyed. Goh jumped. 'Glad I got your attention.' The face smiled. She was an attractive girl who looked to be in her early twenties, she had long black hair. She wore a frilly black maid-costume and had a jet-pack on her back. There was a shotgun strapped to her chest. Goh stepped back, intimated. 'I don't bite.' she chuckled holding out her hand. 'I'm Kibura. 3rd year at BAMAL. Ranked 356th. You must be Goh.' Goh reluctantly shook hands with her. 'How do you know my name?' Goh asked. 'I'm here to guide you to the entry exams. We should probably hurry, everybody else is already there.' Goh's eyes darted from the school then back to Kibura. 'W-wait, entry exams? What do you mean? I-I haven't studied!' Kibura looked at Goh with a quizzical look. 'You don't need to study for a battle, silly. You get pitted against an instructer, who will determine your skill and your rank within the school system. Although you already know. C'mon, let's go now.' Kibura began walking towards the school and Goh followed. Goh didn't want to answer back at the risk of sounding stupid. A battle? This is so sudden! Goh thought. His hands were shaking, but not because he was scared. He was strangely excited. The door to the practice arena was huge. Made out of some sort of ancient oak. It arched many meters over Goh's head. It creaked as Kibura pushed it open. There was the sound of clashing steel within the pit in the arena, though the room that Goh was standing in was not the arena. He was surrounded by all sorts of weapons. Practically every type of gun on the that could ever exist, hundreds of varieties of blades, knives, staves and countless other weapons. None of them looked like they were for show. 'Come on, pick your weapon.' Kibura insisted. 'You should be up next.' Goh's jaw dropped. 'W-weapon!? I don't want to kill anyone!' Kibura smirked. 'You must be kidding right? You ain't gonna be killing anybody, I assure you. Oh yeah. One last thing. Chose carefully, the weapon you chose in this room right now is your default weapon for the next five years, here at BAMAL. Unless you've bought your own to this island or unless you break the one you chose, you won't be getting another. Whether you choose to modify the weapon or not is up to you.' Goh's eyes scanned over the weapons. There was too much to chose from. Goh's hand was shaking as he reached above a rack of weapons, but he felt confident in what his hands grabbed onto. The sound of clashing metal continued as Goh entered the arena. Thirteen people sat in the stands observing the current exam. Probably the other chosen scholars. Goh thought. Kibura patted Goh on the back. 'Well, this is as far as I go. Good luck!' She smiled and left back the way they entered. Goh joined with some exhausted looking people equipped with all kinds of weapons, it was obvious that they'd already taken their exams. Goh stood next to a boy leaning against the railing. He had a sniper rifle rested against the railing beside him, and a large combat knife strapped to his hip along with a Desert Eagle. He wore padded thick combat armour and had medium length blonde hair, he was about Goh's age. 'This guy is unbelievable...' he whispered to himself. Goh looked into the arena. It was Red. He was dual-wielding both of his katana, and the instructor wielded a long sword and shield. The instructor was being pushed back on his heels. he timer showed thirty seconds left on the clock. Red and the instructor took a moment to catch their breath. 'You cocky bastard...' The instructor growled at Red. Red cackled. 'What's wrong, sir instructor? Is that all you have to offer?' Red scoffed. 'Pathetic.' The instructor was enraged. He let out a scream and charged at Red. He pumped his kite-shaped shield at Red anticipating Red to strike first. Instead Red had danced to his left where the instructors right shoulder was exposed. The instructor had no time to react as Red sliced his sword horizontally into the instructor's shield-bearing wrist. The instructor howled in pain and released his grip on the shield. Blood began to pool on the ground and the instructor doubled over in pain. Red's eyes dilated like a wild beast at the smell of fresh blood. He brought his sword back to slice but the instructor had regained his bearings, and swivelled several steps back. Red had no intention of letting his prey escape. Launching a series of combinations using both of his swords against the retreating instructor, eventually led to him being backed against the wall of the pit. The instuctors limply held longsword was knocked out of his hand, and he fell down and braced. Red laughed like the maniac that he is. He brought his sword back to deliver the killing blow. The forghorn sounding the end of the battle sounded. The blade stopped just less than a centimeter away from the instructor's face. Piss dribbled down the instructor's leg and it pooled with the blood from his wounds. He was sobbing hysterically. 'Red...' Goh said to himself. The boy next to him looked over to him. 'Ah you must be the rumoured 15th scholar. I was wondering when you'd show up. You know him? He's scary.' Rumoured? Goh thought. 'Yeah, I took the ferry here with him.' The boy nodded his head. 'Nice. I'm Railey by the way. Professional Marksman. I got ranked 390th. I hope we can become friends.' Goh shook his hand. 'I'm Goh. I'm not really a professional anything, but I am a talented boxer.' Railey let out a hearty laugh. 'We know who you are, silly! At any rate, you should get ready. Your exam is starting.' Goh was the most confused he'd been from the start of this whole thing. End of Chapter CHAPTER THREE: Examination Chapter 3: Examination Goh clutched to his weapon-of-choice as he walked down down the stone steps into the pit. He was still concerned with all the events leading up to now, but now wasn't the time for that. Focus. Goh told himself. He felt a nostalgic feeling and his body shivered in excitement. His blood was pumping as he reached his starting position. 'Scholar Number 15! State your name and age!' The examinators announced on the PA. 'Goh! 17 years old!' he shakily replied. 'Instructor. Brief the scholar.' the PA System sounded out. 'Listen here, kiddo. I know you're a special-case, but I'm not going to go easy on you.' He pointed his French Cutlass at Goh. 'What's with that?' The instructor was obviously talking about Goh's weapon. Elbow length gauntlets. Made of pure titanium but suprisingly light. The knuckles where semi-sharp. 'You plan on fighting an armed professional with your fists kid? You just might be more cocky than the last brat.' Goh looked insulted. 'I haven't had much practice with blades and firearms and the like. I'm confident in my fists though, so I'll stick to what I know.' The instructor scoffed and assumed an offensive stance. 'Suit yourself. three minutes on the clock starting in ten seconds. Come at me with the intent to kill.' Goh assumed a textbook boxing stance. The ten second wait was stale and tension clogged the entire arena. Goh swallowed. The foghorn sounded. The instructor wasted no time with waiting. He charged at Goh with full speed. 'Hold your ground.' Goh whispered to himself as if reciting instructions in his head. Using fancy foot-work Goh danced to the right as he approached, attempting to throw the instructor of his balance, but the instructer followed his movements. Goh ducked under the blade, missing it by an inch. A golden opportunity! His body is wide open, a rookie mistake Goh chuckled in his mind. Goh was the one who made the rookie mistake. The instructor brought his right knee into his face at full force, instantly breaking his nose, Goh seemingly flew backwards before landing on his back. This isn't boxing. There are no rules. Goh felt like an idiot. There was no time for that. Goh rolled to his side just in time as the blade pierced the ground beside him. Goh tumbled to his feet. Everything was spinning around him and blood was pouring from his broken nose. The charging instructor was a blur. Goh attempted to keep calm, but his vision was a mess and he lost his footing as he attempted to dodge an attack, and the cutlass sliced his cheek. Goh flailed his arms and landed a lucky hit under the instructor's chin making him stagger backwards. Goh took the chance to retreat and come to his senses. Goh glanced at the clock. Still one minute and thirty seconds remaining. Blood poured from his nose and cheek. His entire face ached intensely. Goh was good under pressure so fortunately he'd regained his composure. Goh breathed deeply out from his mouth as the instructor approached once again. Goh had measured the instructor's reach. About average. The cutlass was about twice the length of an average boxer's reach length. Goh was clearly at a disadvantage... Or perhaps not! The instructor swung his cutlass at Goh's chest. Instead of moving this time Goh assumed a turtle defensive stance, digging his elbows into his gut and covering his face with his fists. The blade bounced off his forearms like a stick would on diamond. Of course! There's no way steel could even dent solid titanium like that! The instructor lost his balance and Goh drove his fist using the force his whole body directly into the instructor's face, repaying the broken nose. The instructor attempted to remain calm as he struggled to remain on his feet, but Goh had set the pace. He ducked under the sword once again, only this time Goh moved so quickly that he gave no time for the instructor to react, Goh crashed his fist into the instuctor's liver and he doubled over and dropped his cutlass. A pool of blood pixed with freshly salvated saliva flew out of the instructor's mouth and he lumped over into a crumpled heap. Five seconds remaing. There was no need to finish him. The instructor was already a pile of mess on the floor. three, two, one... The forghorn sounded. There was a silence in the arena and Goh stood over the instructor. Eventually the PA System clicked on. 'Will all scholars please come to the waiting lounge to recieve your results.' Goh walked back up the stairs out of the pit massaging his broken face. 'Pretty impressive!' Railey called out. 'You and Red were the only ones who could deal that much damage.' Railey laughed. 'But you're the only one who got beaten up so badly.' Goh scratched his head. 'Didn't you already recieve your results?' He asked Railey. 'I did my entry exam yesterday, while everyone else did theirs today. You should probably go join them if you want to see how everybody else did.' Goh nodded his head and joined the group, eager to find out who his classmates are, and how strong they are. End of Chapter 3 CHAPTER FOUR: Rankings Chapter Four: Rankings Goh walked through the door-less door-way into the waiting lounge. The room was huge for a waiting lounge, big enough to fit at least a hundred seats. The thirteen other scholars were seated all around the room. Goh took a seat at the back of the room. A man stood on a pedestal at the top of the room, shuffling through papers. There was feedback from the microphone as he picked it up. 'Ahem...' he cleared his throat. 'Before I announce the results, I want to be the first official staff member to welcome you to Battle Academy MAL.' a few lone claps sounded through out the lounge. 'I would also like to say, that the observation panel is not allowed to place any new members into the top one hundred, as the annual Battle Royale is only a few days away, and the positions are locked.' He shuffled through some more papers. 'Okay. The results as are follows.' The entire room was silent. This was the moment that decides how easy life at this school will be. 'Scholar number one! Edogawa. Ranked 112th.' a couple of people patted someone on the back near the front. 'Scholar number two! Jack Slik. Ranked 109th.' He proceeded to read the rankings out without pause. 'Scholar number three! Fusuke. Ranked 130th.' 'Scholar number four! Heredity. Ranked 121st.' 'Scholar number five! Lupadim. Ranked 116th' 'Scholar number six! Nebula. Ranked 110th.' 'Scholar number seven! Sapewloth. Ranked 111th.' 'Scholar number eight! Kana. Ranked 120th.' 'Scholar number nine! Uno. Ranked 113th.' 'Scholar number ten! Yoro. Ranked 107th.' 'Scholar number eleven. Zetrin. Ranked 108th.' 'Scholar number twelve. Emnay. Ranked 115th.' 'Scholar number thirteen. Railey. Ranked 390th.' A few whispers sounded throught the room. Goh was worried about this too. Why was Railey ranked so far behind everybody else? It can't be because he is worse can it? No, if anything, Railey looked like an extremely capable marksman. Something must be wrong. The whispers settled down. 'Scholar number fourteen. Red. Ranked 102nd.' Red was in the corner with a wicked grin spread across his face. Goh was suprised when he started staring at him. 'Scholar number fifteen. Goh...' All the eyes in the room where on Goh. Why do people care about me so much? Am I missing something? Goh thought. 'Ranked 103rd.' The announcer was silent for a moment and the people in the room shuffled around, relieved to get all of that off of there chests. The announcer spoke again. 'The fifteen scholars here today will make up Class X. A special class, consisting of scholars. Your dormitries art at the back of the campus. I hope you enjoy your stay, here at BAMAL. Seeing as it's too late to attend classes, feel free to walk around the campus and enjoy yourselves.' The announcer turned off his microphone, collected his papers and stepped off the pedestal. Everybody took this as a sign of dismissal and shuffled out of their room. He was dissapointed that he didn't get the chance to meet all of his classmates, but he had a feeling it wouldn't be too long before he met all sorts of people. 'Well... I suppose I'll go to my dormitry then.' Goh whispered as he stood up. His face was still in so much pain. His nose was broken and the cut on his face stung. He contemplated seeing the school nurse, but he'd rather not. Outside was clean and as peaceful as ever. A soft breeze blew through Goh's hair and the sound of tropical birds chirped in the trees. Goh yawned and closed his eyes. He feels like he can fall asleep at any moment. So peaceful... peaceful... Like something is calling to me... End of Chapter Four CHAPTER FIVE: EARLY MORNING Chapter Five: Early Morning A male student walked down a dormitry with a package in his hand looking behind him much too often. He walked into a room and closed the door behind him. The room was dark and only a tiny beam of moonlight filtered in though the curtains. 'Were you followed?' a female voice asked. 'No. Of course I wasn't followed. I don't suck you know?' he said as he locked the door. She was laying back in a beanbag in the corner of the room. 'Turn the lights on would you?' the girl asked and the boy complied. The lights flickered on and the boy sat down in a chair. The girl sat up and stretched. She was wearing a singlet and skirt and had a knife strapped to her hip. 'This is kinda hot, huh? A boy and a girl alone in a room at night.' the girl giggled. 'I'm not here to play your games, Kami. Give me the information or I'm leaving, with the package.' Kami sighed and layed back into the beanbag. 'You're no fun, you know that Jackie?' she said pouting. 'Don't call me Jackie. My name is Jack Slik for a reason. Now give me the information I came for.' Kami sat up once again. 'You know, you're not the only one who's looking for their family's killer in this school, you know?' Kami said hoping for a reaction. 'I couldn't care less about why other people are at this school.' Jack replied examining the slits on his wrist. 'Yeah, yeah.' Kami sighed. 'I'll tell you what I know.' Jack listened with a grim look on his face. 'I know that the killer is definitely a male and in his third year. I traced his police record here from our home country. The only other thing that I could find out is that he has a sister. Supposedly in Class X.' This got Jack's attention. 'In my class?' Jack gasped. Kami smiled. 'Yup. Is that good enough for you?' she asked. 'That's more than enough. Now here's the info I have.' Jack gave Kami the package and she opened it pulling out documents. She flicked through two seperate piles of paper. 'Perfect...' she said with a grin on her face. Jack stood up. 'Well, I'll be leaving now.' Kami waved him goodbye. Jack opened up the door. 'Oh yeah, Kami?' Kami looked at him. 'It's good to see you again.' Kami smiled. 'Likewise.' Jack stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him. Kami put the papers down, turned off the lights and got into bed. The moonlight flickered through the curtains onto the papers on her desk. Red and Goh's pictures smiled back at the moon. Goh shot up. He was soaked in cold sweat and his throat screamed for water. His eyes darted around the room. What a terrible nightmare. He looked at the clock on his bedside table. 4.30am. Goh got up and went to his kitchen to pour himself some water. Goh gulped down the water like nothing. He walked back into his room. His room-mate never showed up last night. He was dissapointed, because he wanted to meet him... or her. Goh wasn't sure. 'I suppose I'll go for a run and then the gym.' Goh said. It was earlier than he usually did this, but he didn't anticipate going back to sleep today. Not after that dream. He put on his jacket and running shoes and left the room and locked the door behind him. The frosty morning struck him as he left the dorm building. Only a blink of light peeked below the horizon, and the moonlight still dominated the campus. The gravel path crunched under Goh's feet as he made his way to the oval track. It was empty. Goh did eight laps and sat down on a bench and wiped his sweat with his jacket. He layed back and closed his eyes. So peaceful... The morning birds began to chirp in the trees, and if he listened really closely he could hear the waves on the beach. Peaceful... A voice behind him snapped him out of his daydream. 'Oh, hello Goh.' End of chapter CHAPTER SIX: Edogawa The waves crashed against the rocky shore and Edogawa lay against a tree on the bank above the beach. The sun began to peek over the horizon. Edogawa was fiddling with his large combat knife. He'd removed the hilt to make it hollow had stuffed fishing wire, needles, thread, matches and a small surgical knife inside of it. He soldered the hilt back on and attached a small compass onto the the bottom of it. He set it down in front of him admiring his work. Edogawa likes to be prepared. He set his knife in his scabbard on his chest as he heard footsteps approaching. 'Who's there?' Edogawa called out as he stood up. A girl peeped from behind a rock. 'Well, well, who have we here?' she said as she revealed herself. 'Who are you, and what do you want?' Edogawa said calmly. The girl stepped closer. 'There's no need to be paranoid, Edogawa. I'm not going to bite.' She took another step and Edogawa unsheathed his knife. She stopped in her tracks. 'How do you know my name?' he asked pointing his knife at her. 'How? Well, I know everything! There's nothing about this school that I don't know.'she laughed. Edogawa cleared his throat. 'Everything?' The girl smiled an evil grin. 'The person who killed your family, Edogawa.' Edogawa's pupils dilated. 'He's closer than you think.' Edogawa tightened his grip on his knife. 'Tell me what you know, or I'll slice your head clean off.' The girl smiled. 'Really? And then lose the only lead you have? And get expelled? That's rather stupid coming from one of your country's top geniuses. How about we settle down and negotiate?' Edogawa sheathed his knife once again. 'Before anything, I want your name.' he said after regaining his composure. 'Sure. You can call me Kami.' she said. 'OK. Now what is it that you want?' Edogawa said. 'Right. There's a student in your class. I want his files. Railey. Get them by tomorrow.' Edogawa blinked. Sure there was something weird about Railey, but what could she want with these files? 'Done.' Edogawa concluded. 'Meet me in my room tomorrow morning. Dormitory 5 room 17' she said as she walked away. Edogawa sat back down and observed the sunrise. Today was going to be a long day. End of Chapter Six CHAPTER SEVEN: File Retrieval Chapter Seven: File Retrieval Goh removed his jacket as he entered the dorms once again. The heaters were on and it felt like paradise. He kicked his shoes off and left them in his locker. Goh yawned. Hardly enough sleep. He had to attend classes today too. What kind of classes though? Wondered Goh. He walked through the halls of the dorms. Three class' shared this building, one being Class X. Goh has been itching to meet his classmates for a while now. Everybody else is probably asleep though. When Goh reached his room he grabbed out the keys and started unlocking the door... "I swear I locked the door." Goh whispered to himself. Edogawa entered the office building. He knew that the Class X folders are on the top floor. Students had access to that floor at least, but they needed authorisation to enter any of the rooms. He entered the elevator and punched the button in. Edogawa had to do this. His pride was at stake. And any intelligent teenager values his pride above almost all else. More importantly it was the information that was at stake. A lead. And it hadn't even been a day. I might not be at this school for very much longer than I have to. Edogawa thought. The elevator pinged and he stepped out into the corridor. The lights were off and only the small amount of sunrise that reached the building lit up the top floor. A torch would be good to add to my utility combat knife. Edogawa thought as he filed through the corridor being careful not to trip on anything hidden in the shadows. There. Class X. The sign on the door clearly said. Edogawa tried the door. Locked, as suspected. He flicked off the hilt of his knife and pulled out some wires. A makeshift lockpick won't be hard to make. Edogawa thought. After some minutes Edogawa inserted his wire and began to move around. 'Click' the lock popped open and Edogawa stood up satisfied with his work. I would have thought that the school would have better security measures. Edogawa thought as he opened the door. The room was darker than the rest of the floor, as the curtains were almost completely closed. Edogawa flicked a match out of his knife and struck it across his boot. Better than nothing. He thought. After burning through some number of matches Edogawa finally found the filing cabinet he was looking for. Class X Scholars. Locked again. He bent down and got to work. But was rudely interrupted. "I was expecting you to show up." a voice from the shadows. Edogawa shot up and darted his eyes around the room. Dammit! I can't see anything in this room. Edogawa thought. He heard a familiar click in the room. A gun cock. Edogawa dove over a table in the nick of time as a bullet pierced the wall behind him. Edogawa didn't move. This will be a game of cat and mouse. Edogawa had to get to the curtains without being seen. Once the curtains are open, the battle will be even. "There's no point in hiding, Edogawa. I will finish you off here." The voice was cold and made Edogawa shiver to the very core. He felt like he'd just stepped into the wrong territory. Edogawa began to shuffle across the room staying behind as much cover as he can. He reached the curtains with only a few bullets being fired. He tore them down and pulled his solar powered taser-gun out of his hilt. It only had enough charge for one hit. He dared not peek out from cover just yet. "I'm coming over to you, then." The voice said angrily. Edogawa didn't have much time. He listened for the footsteps. One shot. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "NOW!" he yelled as he stood up and fired the taser in the direction of the footsteps. The pursuer skilfully fired his pistol simultaneously knocking the taser out of mid-air. Edogawa charged out of cover as a last-resort. His only chance now was to fight the attacker with his knife. He could now see who the attacker was. He knew there was something suspicious about him from the beginning. Edogawa drew his knife but it was useless. The attacker fired a bullet into Edogawa's hand making him drop his weapon and broke many of his fingers. Blood pooled on the ground but Edogawa had no time to be in pain. He swung desperately with his remaining fist but the attacker grabbed it and dislocated his shoulder. Edogawa was helpless. The attacker whispered into his ear. "Tell the person who sent you to stay the hell out of my business. Or I will kill them. Edogawa had no time to reply as the attacker drove his body out of the window. Just my luck Edogawa thought sourly. A ten story drop. He smashed through the canopy of palm trees before landing into a thick bush. The bush didn't move. End of Chapter CHAPTER EIGHT: Hospitalised. Chapter Eight: Hospitalised Edogawa was fading in and out of consciousness. He'd managed to move out into the open about ten meters away, leaving a trail of smeared blood on the pavement. He'd suffered six broken ribs, a dislocated shoulder, a crushed hand, a broken leg and a gun-shot wound. Somebody find me. Edogawa begged in his head. He wanted to call out but he didn't have the energy. He dragged himself one last time before his conciousness betrayed him. He wouldn't wake again for many hours. He woke to the sound of a heart-monitor echoing throughout the room. Room? Edogawa thought. I can't move my body. Edogawa struggled. "Finally awake, huh?" Edogawa's vision focused on a figure sitting beside the bed, reading a book. "Who... Are you?" Edogawa managed to say. It hurt to speak. It hurt to breathe. The person clapped his book closed. "Elpys. Nice to meet you." Edogawa was still struggling to move. "Why can't... I move?" Edogawa questioned again. "Sedatives. The doctors had to do some poking around inside your chest to see if you had any damaged organs. You got pretty messed up out there." Elpys said. Edogawa didn't really care. "How long was I out." Elpys checked his watch. "About... Fourteen hours. You're lucky that I found you, else you'd be a corpse on the pavement about now. "Th... Thanks..." Edogawa managed. Elpys stood up. "No problem. I'll go get the doctor." Elpys leant over the bed and whispered into Edogawa's ear. "Contact me when you get out of here. Dorm 8, room 5-C." Edogawa grunted in response. "See ya then." He said as he left the room. The doctor entered the room as Elpys left. "Good evening, Edogawa." He pulled the curtains open and the orange setting-sunlight entered the room. He left medicine on Edogawa's bedside table. "Take one every morning. I recommend that you stay here for two weeks minimum. Ultimately, that is up to you though. "Oh, that's right. You have a visitor outside, I'll send her in." The doctor left the room. Kami entered the room. She didn't say anything as she turned the security camera off. Oh boy, this can't be good. Edogawa thought. "You worthless piece of shit!" She scowled as she drove a hard fist into Edogawa's gut through the covers. Blood dropped out of the side of his mouth. Edogawa cringed as a sharp pain pierced his body. "You had one job, and you screwed it up." She growled. "Screw you." Edogawa spat. "Screw me?" she asked innocently. She pulled her revolver out of her holster and cocked it back. "I'm not the one who's screwed, Edogawa." She said. She put the barrel against Edogawa's forehead. "You're nothing but a nuisance now. I can kill you now, and nobody will give me a second look." She pushed her finger slightly against the trigger. Edogawa grit his teeth. He wasn't afraid of death, but he can't die now. He still has so much he needs to do. Kami released the gun off of his forehead. "You're lucky I'm against killing helpless people. I tell you what. I'll give you one last chance. Screw up this, and I will kill you." She moved to the end of the bed. Edogawa swallowed his pride. He didn't have a choice. "What is it, then?" Kami grinned sinisterly. "Kill Red. You have 3 weeks." End of Chapter Eight CHAPTER NINE: Legacy Chapter Nine: Legacy Goh swung the door open, cautious as to what could be inside. There was a male, obviously in his late teens rummaging through his suitcase. He was wearing a slack clothes with a fedora. He turned as the door closed. "Hey." He said simply before turning back again. Goh sat down onto his bed. "Hi." The boy pulled out a cigar and lit it. He opened the window and lent out. "I'm Lupadim." He said before taking a puff. "I'm Goh." Goh replied. "I know." Lupadim said looking out over the campus. This again. Goh thought. Why does everyone know me? Goh scratched his head. "Hey, Lupadim? Why does everyone on campus know me?" Lupadim frowned. "Huh?". Lupadim questioned. "I mean everybody always acts so familiar with me, but I don't know anyone here." Goh said. Lupadim dropped his cigar out the window. "You mean, you don't know about you father?" Lupadim asked as he walked over to his bed." Goh choked on air. "M-my father?" he stammered. "What has he got to do with anything." Lupadim sighed. "As I thought. You really don't know, do you?" Goh was getting flustered now. "What!? Know what!?" He was almost shouting. "Calm down would you? Come with me and I'll show you." Lupadim left the room and Goh reluctantly followed. Goh followed Lupadim down a hallway. Large picture frames where mantled along the entire wall, with portaits of important looking people displayed. Goh began to feel nervous. They finally reached a large set of double-doors at the end of the corridor. Lupadim had to push hard on them to get them open. The oak doors closed with a large thud behind them. Goh was standing in a prestige looking room with velvet carpets and walls with expensive looking wallpapers. Goh felt like he was some sort of royal palace. Lupadim didn't look phased. They spent a good couple of minutes walking around an indoor water-fountain. "Up here." Lupadim said as he started scaling a large set of stairs. The stairs seemed to go on forever but what awaited at the top was definitely worth the climb. Goh was in awe. His breath was literally taken away. He dropped to his knees as he stared at a humongous portrait scaling an entire wall, with a diamond picture frame. Sure enough the person inside of the portrait was none other than Goh's dad. Goh gulped "N-no way..." Lupadim looked amused. "My dad was a carpenter." Lupadim fixed his fedora and lit another cigar. "Apparently not." He said taking a puff. "He was the undefeated champion of BAMAL for ten years. From age fourteen to age twenty-four. He is renowned as the greatest fighter of all time at this school. Probably the reason why you were given a scholarship. Well, everyone in Class X is special in a way." Goh didn't couldn't believe it. "He was a great man, your father was." A voice from behind them said. GOh hadn't even realised that an old man had approached them from behind. Lupadim put out the cigar. "Morning, Principal Dot." Lupadim said hoping he wouldn't get scolded for smoking. Dot paid no attention to it. "The previous principal and I were both good friends with your father, Goh." Dot said putting a hand on Goh's shoulder. I'm glad I caught up with you, too. You're father has left a letter waiting for you ever since he left. If you come to my office, I can give it to you." Goh's attention was snagged. "A letter?" Dot closed the door behind him and beckoned for Goh to take a seat. A fire-place crackled in the corner of the room, blocking out the blistering cold morning. Dot began to rummage through the drawers of his desk before pulling out an envelope with a wax seal. He carefully handed it to Goh. "This has been sitting in the principal desk for almost eight years now, Goh. Ever since your father up-and-left. Not a soul in the world knows where he is now." Goh stared intensely at the envelope in his hands. What would the letter say? Was the only thought, repetitively racing through his head. Goh carefully opened the letter with his thumb. He began to read. 'If you are reading this Goh, it means you have taken after your old man. I am no longer at Battle Academy MAL. I've moved on to greener pastures. There are many things that I want to tell you, but I wish to keep this short. So here a few important things: The first is that this school is not normal. And by that I mean something mysterious is going on behind the scenes. I investigated this for a while, but only harvested few results. The second is that this school is somehow connected with your mother. Although nobody at the school knows it. I can tell what you're thinking. You want to know what this is all about. I can tell you that. But you must meet a prerequisite first. Before I can tell you anything, you must do this. Become the school champion. -Your old man' End of Chapter Nine If you're willing to do me a favour, leave a comment telling me what you think of the story, and what you think I can improve in. I'm always trying to improve my writing. |

Probably a good idea to have some fanfiction here on MAL in which I'm not framing MAL users in Chris Hansen stings, or fanfiction which Lupadim brings up every time someone asks why there isn't any fanfiction on MAL. |
