Why did you drop it? When did you drop it? AND What did you do next? SO I was recommended to read Black Bird, awful. (In my own opinion) And I dropped it because it didn't kill my boredom. too much love and romance. Don't get me wrong I like romance. But it just felt like the couple were forced for each other, and besides that I didn't like how there were monsters and demons. It didn't it explain how there were monsters in human earth. I dropped it around chapter 5, I didn't want to continue because then it would kind of be like a Homework assignment for me. (Yeah each chapter has like 50 pages). Now im not saying that this manga series is bad. Its not for me. AND at the end of the day we read manga for entertainment.

I drop a manga if I feel like it, but I might pick it up later

PS: your anime stats is messed up by MAL... I checked based on your list (no rewatches) it shouldn't be more than 8000 episodes, but somehow the system glitched.

When you don't like it and it becomes a chore to read. At least that what I felt when I dropped Hoshi no Samidere.

To be fair, manga is not as time consuming as anime, so I drop more anime than manga.

When you get bored reading it. eg: I dropped both Bleach and Fairy Tail because they started getting way too much shit past the radar. And from what I've heard of both, neither has improved at all. I don't care if I invested a lot of time on it, that doesn't mean I have to continue investing anymore time on it.

I'm happy to try anything, so I have no problem dropping after one chapter if I don't like it (hence 760 series dropped).

I drop a manga when I feel like it's uncomfortable to read. That is, when I get bored reading it and if I don't like some certain development.

I'm not saying that the mangas I dropped are bad though, it's just not my cup of tea.

My manga list have no dropped manga since I don't list it. I'm just lazy to do it.

What is dropping?

It depends on the person. If they start to dislike it for any reason and don't feel like continuing it than they drop it.

I have no specific requirements, although I'll at least go through the first chapter

I usually only drop a Manga when something, unforgivable happens that I really disliked. Usually if a Manga is boring I will at least try to finish it (if it is completed), but if it's not then Ill forget about it later (happened a couple times). So yeah, only when a Manga takes a direction I wasn't looking for will I drop it. =^-^=

I only do this for Manga though for some reason... It's different from when I'm watching Anime, which I never drop... But that's for Anime discussion. =^-^=

^this

Certain series just become dull and lose their appeal after awhile. For example, by the fullbring arc in Bleach I was just reading chapters because it became a habit to read the updates every week. I wasn't enjoying them very much and I generally finished them as quickly as possible to move onto One Piece and Naruto. After a while of that I decided to drop Bleach because it was basically wasting my time. I dropped Naruto and One Piece after as well, but that was only because I basically stopped reading any manga for 2-3 years.

When a manga gives off a " Oh man , not this crap again " felling that's the time you gotta realise that you have to drop it

You should drop Manga the moment you realize it's not for you.

I try to give it maybe 2-3 volumes, if I'm interested, awesome, if not, then I at least look for promise. If I don't find promise of becoming interesting later, then I drop it, but I at least want to give everything a fair shot. Or I can drop it if it becomes boring later. Of course, some things as so god awful that even one volume is too much (then I look for reviews, see if the first volume or chapter is a fluke and it actually will get better)

Whenever I start wondering when the chapter I am currently reading will end, or if I find myself not caring about the majority/any of the characters -- Definite drop. Though if the series is fairly short, I tend to tough it out.

I haven't dropped anything yet but i almost dropped watamote because it was basically a chore and that shouldn't be the case with any anime like seriously that shouldn't be a thing. Another big factor would be if the story just doesn't have any movement. To me attack on titan was starting to get very boring what couldve been explained in a chapter took about 6 and no actual movement happened. I almost dropped the series but the latest chapter actually had a good ending so I decided not to drop it. For me these are the reasons at least.

If it's absolutely crap I'll drop it on the first chapter, but else I tend to put them on hold or read a little further. I wouldn't want to drop a possibly good manga just because its first chapter(s) are slow/bad.

I'll drop something in a few chapters if I don't like it. I pretty much know when it becomes a forced thing to read and I'm only reading it because someone might have recommended it or the plot sounded mildly good.

Or I'll drop it if theres a fucking annoying main character (cough cough sakura from code breaker)

when you get bored, or it starts to feel like, you said, a homework assignment.

to me, i can't stand the thought of wasting time doing something i don't enjoy. unless the manga has gotten rave reviews, i'll drop it once i feel it's not worth my time.

I'll give the series about 10-20 chapters before I consider dropping it, everything starts off slow or build a means to find an interest.

Most of the time I wont read something before I do some pretty big research on it and ask for reviews though so I don't get this problem that often.

Normally I really try to get into the manga but sometimes it just bores me and doesn't get better so I end up dropping it instead of suffering through it ^^"
I also dropped a lot of stuff that I just wanted to try out because it sounded interesting but ended up being totally different from what I imagined.

I dropped Detective Conan a few years ago when I started to feel that the main storyline was not being developed at all! When I got bored, I'll drop it without hesitation. However, for every series that I drop, I always go back and read the LAST chapter LOLLLL

i usually drop it after a certain arc has ended and if the next arc isn't good enough; whatever initially hooked me to the manga has finished with the previous arc, so the next arc has to provide me with a new hook to make me want to keep reading it, but some mangas fail to do that;

When there is way too much fan service , for example whenever the girls fall, their panties are always showing. Or their boobs fall on some guy's face. I also hate the fact that all the girls have either big ass boobs, or a big ass in general. It just gets to be way too much.

When you're 20+ chapters in and fucking bored.
You should check out if people specify that it get better around a certain chapter/arc but for the most part; if you don't like the first 20 chapters then you probably won't like the rest of the series.

Pretty much what everyone else has said, and I also drop series when they're still entertaining but become a bit too repetitive (so that it won't engrave a terrible impression in my mind in case I decide to pick it up again later - trying to force myself to go through the repetition would lead to the terrible impression).
