the official manga and scanlations are on chapter 259, however there is 1 gaps in the scanlations as no one has translated chapters 165-168. For that reason onemanga hasnt updated the Hayate section because it doesnt want to have a gap in its releases.

Mangafox on the other hand just has it all (with the gaps there), and their latest chapter is 258. So now the question comes to whether you wish to skip the untranslated chapters and move on to what its IMO the best moments in the manga (ch178 onwards) or be patient and wait for the small gaps to be filled.

This is just my 2 cents on the untranslated chapters: ch165-168 are just random comedy chapters, and skipping them does not ruin any of the experience AT ALL.

thanks for the info. i wasnt sure about skipping the untranslated parts, but i guess i will. on the other hand, if the japanese manga has furigana i might just read the raws.

There's plenty of material for a season 3, and both of Athena's arcs could be covered in it if it goes long enough.
But she's an 'in-n-out' character and created such a broken base for the manga, I'm not sure anyone's going to want to animate it, for fear of losing so much of it's fanbase.

I'd love to see it animated, Athena is an interesting character and it would be great to see her done into animation.

you almost make it sound like Athena made the hayate fanbase decrease...when from all the evidences I've seen around the internet from both english and non english websites...the overall response to her was more possitive than you make it sound. In fact I dare say that the manga might have become a bit more popular than before she received focus. And now that her focus has ended...maybe its just me but a lot of the talk about Hayate in general has seemed to died down.

About wanting to animate it...there is no problem, JC Staff wouldnt just throw in all these teasers and shots of her in both anime and magazine scans if they werent planning on working with her in the future, plus we all know JC Staff loves to make sequels...actually I dont even know why you wrote that paragraph -__-

I am totally game for a 3rd season, I mean the first seasons cover essentially the first half of the manga so they have plenty of material left



I believe Athena is definitely interesting and popular enough to have her own little OVA arc or something at the least if they did not want to throw her into a 3rd season. Also, there is the fact that you know she is coming back in to the manga at some point in time, I can not remember what chapter it was off the top of my head but she essentially made it clear that she is going after Hayate so she will definitely return at some point in time in the future.

Well guys, I have confirmed that there is going to be a third season of Hayate no Gotoku along with a movie as well (I apologize if this is old news to everyone)

J.C.Staff are working on it, obviously...
but they're also working on the SnS season 3, ZnT season 4...
SnS = Shakugan no Shana, ZnT = Zero no Tsukaima (if you didn't know;;)
Those two are actually their high priority, and they've promised to air them since long while ago x)
I'm guessing Hayate no Gotoku is pretty far behind the list, but I'm sure it's coming.

Sadly, I agree with you. I really loved her design in season 1 and especially season 2. But oh well, it's been 3 years since the story has been left off so I can't say anything about this. Tbh though I was crushed to see what she looked like since I was so excited to see what the producers/designers came up with. Oh well, as long as she's actually in the anime, her personality hasn't changed, and her voice actress hasn't changed (Watch episode 12 of season 2 when Hina sings "A Cruel Angels Thesis"), I guess it's alright. Trust me, I haven't token a fond to her design but take a look at it this way, other then Hina's design, did anything else about her change from the past seasons?
