Highly depends on how VR technology will be represented.
For now i dont know how such technology can be potentially safe for brain.
Maybe after couple of years since this will be released and if there will be no tons of dead people, mind controlled zombies and dystopian governments controlling people's thoughts via this tech... if there will be no things like that i will not mind to buy one of these :)

2 day's ago I borrowed a Oculus Rift DV2 from a friend, and it's amazing XD. It's really like you're there, I really didn't think it would be that realistic. Only problem was that you can't really move, it's really disturbing to move your real arms, but in the virtual world you see your arms just hanging there.

But if there's gonna be a Nerve Gear, i'd insta buy it no matter the risks XD!

i would use the nerve gear and the amusphere 100%, even if it meant my brain fried if i died in sao ( assuming it was still that way )

the whole life is on the line thing is very appealing to me and would embrace it completely to be honest.

guess this explains why i enjoy hardcore mode on games lol.

I was kind of curious about this same thing. I scrolled through these comments and everybody is saying "yes if I don't die" but that is what really caught my attention of SAO. The dramatic intensity is what makes SAO so good. To be honest I don't have many friends and I don't really know the purpose of my life. So if my life was on the line, I think I still would try it. If something like the nerve gear came out then yeah sign me up. there's already a vr headset for the playstation 4 and a few games for it coming out.

There's this webiste that researches the advancement of current technology, global patterns, etc. to predict things that might happen in the future. According to them, the technology used to create a virtual reality would be completely safe. As of the year 2039, it's predicted that frequenting a virtual world would be possible with the current technology, but not yet available to the public.
