Lots of action, and judging by the preview it's not the end of it.

Content which was not used and will never be used does not count as spoilers. It counts as deleted scenes :)It's still unnecessary, and also (somewhat) spoiler for those who want to read the manga later.

That. Average episode, if it isn't for the awesome ending and cliffhanger.

It was an OK episode - lots happened but I felt it jumped around a lot in random directions. For example, one moment, we have the epic battle between Scar and Ed and Al. Then, it jumps to Ling and Bradley and then cuts to Ran Fan in the sewers. Then it cuts to Gluttony and Ling joining in on the battle with Scar. We also have Riza and Mustang in and out in the first half. Then Mei randomly appears to save Scar...and then we have a car scene with Ed, Al, and the panda, meeting with Winry, a small bit of Winry development with the phone call, train and love realization scene, etc. etc. It all just felt "all over the place" rather than following one (or just a few) direction(s).

Or...maybe I'm just tired as hell and so confused by life in general that I can't quite follow things as I normally can....

I loved Winry's train revelation. It was just so simple and sweet. It's kind of funny how when I watched the first FMA anime, I did not like Winry at all, and then once I picked up the manga and Brotherhood, I started to love her character, especially in the manga. :) Her and Riza are definitely two of my favorite female characters in anime.

Looooove Lin. Man I could just hug him. I can't wait for the next few episodes with his character development.

Totally excited for the next episode (or for however long it carries out.) It was some of my favorite parts of the manga.

I'm with Aeterna and Jacut...just ok. I totally forgot about Panda-girl, so I was very angry when she showed up out of nowhere after how many episodes? I just wanted Ran Fan to kill herself since she hasn't really been useful at all, and I really want Scar dead because he's such a distraction from the main story. Gluttony and his stomach is a really stupid concept, so I'm hoping this marks his doom so I don't have to hear him whine about Lust anymore.

The only character who really looks like they've developed at all from the start of the series is Al, which makes me happy because he's doing everything I hoped he be capable of; on the flipside, everyone else is mind bogglingly stagnant.

Winry's, "Oh, I'm in love with him." Was just so dumb and uninspired. I hate her so much more than the first series where she was more of a nuisance.

Ran-fan :(

I'm hoping this'll be the end for Gluttony as well. He just isn't a character I like at all. Way to single minded, it's either eating, or crying about Lust.

Woah there, that's a little harsh. I don't see how she's been useless seeing as she's been protecting Ling since who knows how long. Not to mention she helped the two of them escape.

You don't even know the concept from this episode so I would hardly jump to conclusions like this.

Um, how is a character actually acknowledging their feelings a bad thing?

Ling has not needed her assistance. He's been more than capable the whole time I've seen him on screen. The both of them are more like just formal escorts who don't actually protect him. If she had killed herself, Ling would not have felt like he had to go find her, thereby revealing themselves to Bradley.

I'm talking about the art itself. The teeth, the eye, it's just beyond dumb. I don't know about the actual function, but I just don't care. I want him dead already. He's annoying.

She's not acknowledging it, she's discovering it. The tone was that of, "Oh wow, I didn't know I was in love with him." Which I find ridiculously thick. As I said, it was handled in a dumb and uninspired way.

A gigantic part of Ling's is wanting to be a king that helps his people. He would have never accepted her killing herself. Bradley would have gladly abandoned Lan Fan which is why he's considered Ling's opposite.

The teeth and the eye are a design that will appear over and over again and in fact have already appeared. So I guess you'll be tortured to see it over and over again.

She's known him since they were kids and has essentially always cared for him. This is just her realizing that lately her feelings have matured towards him. They haven't exactly been spending their teenage years together seeing as he left when they were both around twelve.

I'm not talking about whether or not Ling is attached to her and his reasons. I'm talking about Ran Fan being useless, and needing to kill herself so that she isn't a hindrance to Ling. It was very clear he wasn't going to do that the minute he slung her over his back.

Maybe I will maybe I won't, but Gluttony being a big manifestation of that design is bonkers and not in a good way. Then again, I've felt his character never meshed well with the total aesthetic of the show in the first place.

I understand everything that the show is doing here with Winry. It's not groundbreaking. I'm saying it's handled dumbly, and in a cliche, boring way.

Basically, Ran-Fan's situation is pretty much a plot device to showcase Ling's ideals and the stark contrast with Bradley's ideals. And it is true that Ran-fan and the other guy (whose name I forget) are with Ling pretty much only "because" he's of semi-importance in his home country, that doesn't just makes them completely useless. Apparently someone can't stand anyone who's not a main player.

And some people can't seem to handle more than one fight running at the same time. This one wasn't like the last time. This time both the fights HAVE to run at parallel because Scar's fight is a decoy for Ling's fight with Wrath and Gluttony. They happen at the same time, and I found they did a decent job at showing you both, Scar's getting the larger chunks since that battle was less one-sided and featured the main character.

It just so happens that I can't stand some of the supporting characters in this show because they take up so much content and stall the progress of the story proper. I hated that Al's glorious ascension into an active character is stalled once by Winry, and then again by Panda girl.

For those who care, these are the characters I like/find interesting: Al, Mustang, Bradley, Hohenheim, Ling

In the case of Ran Fan, I honestly didn't care about her one way or the other up to this episode since she hasn't done anything. But here, she totally stands in the way of the safety of Ling, extending into the success of this whole mission. We've seen nothing about her as a character in her own right, and as you've said, she is a plot device to showcase Ling's ideals, and since she's served her purpose, she needed to exit. We've been trimming the tree lately, so why can't she be pruned? I'd have to take this as a cue that she is more important, which baffles me slightly.

I get that and it wasn't hard to follow, per se. I think it was just handled poorly in that the episode kept jumping from one thing to another very quickly with poor transition leading to poor flow from one scenario to the next.

Moreover, I couldn't tell what they were trying to accomplish in this episode. There was some nice EdxWinry development (and even a bit of just-Winry development), but that was mostly in the beginning and end of the episode. In-between, we had the two simultaneous battles, which was fine. But we also had the re-introduction of Mei (who I had been wondering about recently, since she's largely disappeared since her random introduction), more Roy Mustang subplot, a Ran Fan almost dying and then being treated (and as others have said, showing Ling's character as a result), and Gluttony being captured and subsequently freaking out.

So, basically, what was the focus of this episode? I can't quite pin it down onto 3 or less things. I can't help but feel that they tried to stuff too much into one episode, or at least did it a bit poorer than they have with previous action-packed episodes.

Again, however, I was very tired when I watched this episode so perhaps my mind was just slow and will have to re-watch this episode when I'm actually awake and alert. Still, those were my impressions of the episode.

Because killing off a character without giving them a chance to develop is even worse? Which I guess Brotherhood is having issues with (hello Hughes) though. :|

I wont comment on any speculation about her importance since I am trying to avoid any spoilers.

Awesome episode! Extremely good!

We finally get to see that Ling, a random annoying character, turns out to be a talentfull prince who is skilled in speed, escaping, and most of all, battling homunculus without any alchemy! That was awesome! He turned to an annoying character, to one of my favourites. Also the girl who lost her arm will become great in battle, with her metal arm she will become quite useful. :)

Yep, me too.
Ranfan/Lan Fan is really devoted to Ling, isn't she? Then again, who wouldn't be xP
...But seriously, the arm scene was great.
Winry realising her feeling made me lol a little, it was so shoujo-ish.
Xiao Mei's hierarchy pyramid was the Crowning Moment of Funny. Not to mention I love pandas, so it made me happy :"D SAVE THEM SPECIES. That will suck so badly if they become extinct Dx

And yay, one of my favourite scenes with Ling! I never had any doubts - he's my favourite character in this series, period.

man next ep looks totally funny and full of action. gluttony sure will only go after roy and the running away scenes looks also pretty cool.

Enjoyed it early on, started getting into manga content was extremely hyped but as of this episode I am utterly underwhelmed, pacing is too fast, rushing through as much content as possible and missing out some important moments like how Ling and Ran Fan see how Homunculus are different to humans, it's just a mess. I'll carry on with it, but damn... the way it's being treated it's like BONES are doing it on purpose for a third series, also finding it hard to believe how a large margin of people are eating this up without realizing.

Well, I guess I understand in that the episode wasn't great in nailing a focus since it was juggling matters. But I think you can nail it to two things, Scar/Elric brothers/Winry and the Homonculi/immortality. You can bunch Mustang along with Ling and the Homonculi because he's basically tackling that issue, and the rest was basically the Elric brother's and their little revenge battle with Scar.

First and foremost, Winry finally admits she is in love with Ed! However I wonder if he can say the same thing???? It was a good episode, not a 5/5 as it seemed a bit slow at times, Ran Fan getting operated on was rather sickly a bit. They also finally find out what the Fuhrer is doing, vaguely might I add. Next episodes looks interesting, we'll have to wait and see!

Thankfully it is Mustang who gets to know, since Ed is probably too hot-headed(read:stupid) to tie point A and point B. I'm actually surprised he could tell Scar killed the Rockbell's by the description of the tatoo and scar(duh).

That's because, for many people, this is the first time they've seen this content. They are not "spoiled". Perhaps if I had seen the manga I would have had a different opinnion too. Or perhaps not, since I'm not a purist or really have huge expectations out of anime. I just want it to be entertaining, and I've got my share of entertainment so far. nope, flow was good, transitions were abrupt, and decisive - honestly, what are you talking about. Again, you need to see some hollywood movies.

why the need for such limited focus? you do know this is a series, right? you should watch some telenovela, or read some manga chapters/volumes, maybe you can pinpoint the 3 or less things you are talking about. sometimes you can have a focus on your episodes, sometimes not. It's a plot-driven manga/anime - that's ok. You're not the only one with these views I believe - since when did each episode require such a limited focus. I get anime can get stuffed too much, but you can't just say, "oh there's four things going on, that's too much" - why not 2 or 6 or ...?

Pretty damn amzaing ep!!

It made feel a lot of things ^.^ It was touching, exciting and some events were unexpected completely.

I would give this ep a 11/5 of I could!!

Hope for FMA.B to continue like this ^__^

and for the romantic moment when Winry said: "Oh, I see. I .. fell in love with him"
I was like : HELL YEAH!
The only thing this series was missing, was a lil' bit of romance. and here we got it!

Damn, can't wait for the next ep!

FMA.B hope for u to be always exciting like this till the very end!

and right, a question to ppl who saw the first season :: Did Ling and Lan Fan have an appearance in the first season? I don't remember seeing them before in it at all (I saw it 5yrs ago, so I'm not sure if my memory isn't with me >_>)

Kyah~ <3 The part where Winry realized her feelings was amazing. I knew it'd happen and all (read the manga) but I had the same exact same reaction the second time around. I'm still smiling :D EdWin~ <3333
The action was amazing as always of course! I remember reading the manga I thought Ran Fan died at this part. I'd probably have more to say if I didn't already know what happens.

and right, a question to ppl who saw the first season :: Did Ling and Lan Fan have an appearance in the first season? I don't remember seeing them before in it at all (I saw it 5yrs ago, so I'm not sure if my memory isn't with me >_>)
Nope, they weren't in the first series. The first series didn't get to that part in the manga, since it was around that part they started branching off. unless I just have a really, really REALLY bad memory. As in, even worse than I think I do. orz
