| I've recently started watching the original Japanese version of Kenshin with English subtitles. I've noticed that quite often, Kenshin will end one of his sentences with "that he is" or "that you are", sometimes even "that is". It gets to be a bit annoying, especially when he says it during serious moments. I'd just like to know... are these accurate translations? I'm pretty sure the version I have downloaded has subtitles simply ripped from the DVD, since it's dual-audio. If that's the case, I'm thinking it could just be a little something they included to be accurate with the English Dub. Or is it accurate to the Japanese, and should I just deal with it? |

| I guess you mean something like the "degozaru" ending, so yes, it is accurate, that's how samurai used to talk, it's really common in historicals. It's more or less how you get "hath", "doth" etc in Shakespeare plays (watch some performed by English companies). |

| The subtitles are probably a transcription of the english dub, but that's just a guess. Kenshin has two speech 'quirks' as I recall. 'oro oro' - the noise he makes, and 'de gozaru' which is an archaic form of 'desu' or something along those lines. The english dub probably added those to try and adapt the latter quirk. |
