| There were several instances when I wish this series woould have ended on episode 25. First of all, Matsuda's scene with Sayu was so "cheesy", God... I bet those two will end up together after he heroically saves her ffs. And the two new antagonists, white L wannabe and the other orange dude didn't seem as smart as L, which I guess is fine, but somehow were super quick to understand the whole situation. Near was definitely the worst of the two, it's like he's trying too hard to be cool. The rest of the episode was good enough. |

| tbh this episode did not get me hooked. it did not impress me. it was just boring. please don't go downhill death note. i would've maybe preferred a season 2 of this and just ended the anime at ep 25 instead. oh well. also the scene with sayu and matsuda was so lame & cheesy imo. death note does not fit with romance & comedy .-. i guess misa and light is fine (if misa wasn't annoying) because this is what would even make the plot work. |

| Yeah this episode was bad and annoying, already know that this third is going to be a struggle to get through with this rewatch. Near already just presents himself as a poor caricature of L and shows a lack of vision from Ohba in this particular scenario, opting to go for the same kind of character to defeat Light, and Mello's presence and character really grinds my gears too. |
| Okay so Mello and Near are the two new main characters. Also looks like Mello is acting rashly and Near doesn't know he's the one behind the kidnapping and he's investigating him. Both the detectives are working separately for the same result, catch Kira. Light is somewhat handling the situation well enough. |

| UGGGHH NOO, I really don't like the dude with the bob, Mello or whatever, he makes me cringe, and his motivation for what hes doing is also so lame and unconvincing, I hope we get a backstory as to why he, ohh so badly 🙄 , wants to "win" against Near at least |
| Near seems really cool, close to L in his personality and demeanor. Mello is wack, obviously he wants power and is jealous of Near. This show just went completely sideways, it feels out of continuity somehow with the main storyline. I really don't like it. Looks as if Light has a new rival. |

| Honestly I was excited to meet Near and Mello, but atm I really don't care for either of them. I really hope I'm speaking too soon but at the moment I'm honestly not a fan of the direction this show is taking. Also I've just realised we never found out L's real name |
