I'm just curious as to which method people use as a means to get their daily dosage of manga ^.^

Download and read in CDisplay, as reading compressed jpegs is not so good.

I wonder how long "purchase from a bookstore" will be in the lead... That's what I chose, but I occasionally buy online (usually new rather than used) or borrow from the library as well. I've stopped reading scans almost entirely, for ethical reasons as well as not having the patience to deal with crappy-English translations.

I thought that most people mainly read them online. But I don't really know ^_^ The poll results will tell!

I'll purchase when I can for ethical reasons, but I tend to do much more of my reading online because the stories I tend to like either aren't published or, if they are, are nearly impossible to track down without searching through every specialty store in a 100-mile radius.

Voted 'other' because I download scanlations and read them offline.
This way I don't have to wait for each page to load, and it makes shit easier to access.

I read manga online, but mostly because there is NO place to buy or borrow manga over here..

I only have about 10 manga books, and I got them when I was on a holiday D:

all but the library one... :P (my local library has like no manga, only a few old and battered copies of bleach and naruto... and those crappy books on how to draw manga)

I usually buy bulk of titles I know are good off ebay and suck for like a buck or two each... sometimes I buy one at the bookstore (Barnes and Noble) when I want one quickly... and as for keeping up to date on currently airing series, or just really hard to find ones I read online. I definitely prefer to read the books, but that ain't always a luxury I have.

Mostly read online, or read mangas that other people have brought to anime and manga club, or borrow from friends.

I do buy them sometimes, but only if i really like the series.

Pretty much the first three options, though I voted for buying.

While I've cut back my manga spending considerably this year, I purchase the titles that I instinctively know I will enjoy and re-read. Currently I'm purchasing Gintama and Hayate the Combat Butler, with more titles on the back-burner or in the pipeline soon enough.

Only recently have I started really using the library to read manga. My city's library system has an impressive selection of titles, so why not take advantage of it? Not only do I save myself some money, but I get to read it in physical form, which I vastly prefer over reading scanlations. Among other things, I've been able to (almost) catch up with the North American release of Nana, as well as read the portion of Naruto that I watched yet never ended up reading due to Viz skipping it in the magazine in order to kick-start the Shippuden storyline. It's also convinced me that I want DearS in my collection, and will be pursuing it in the future.

While I do read some scanlations, I am very specific with what I read. Barring:
- any of my ongoing titles magically getting licensed for North American release (the titles I'm reading have an extremely low possibility of being licensed with the exception of Kimi no Iru Machi),
- the North American release has been canceled/put on indefinite hiatus (Unbalance X Unbalance), or
- the North American released has been altered significantly (Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo, Tenjho Tenge),
I refuse to read scans of licensed titles. Most titles I read are based off of anime I've seen, or are created by certain creators of certain shows. Currently I'm following Kimi no Iru Machi, Kiss X Sis, Asatte no Hoko, BokuImo, A Spirit of the Sun, Honey X Honey Drops and Okusama wa Joshi Kosei, but with the exception of the 1st title they're either coming out at a fairly slow pace or are dropped/stalled.

I basically read them online. I'll buy a manga on the offchance I go into chapters or the local D&D/Magic/Warhammer/Manga hub and there's a manga that intrigues me.

Does CDisplay work with Vista, do you know?

On topic, if the Manga is available to buy translated, I'll do that 99% of the time, but otherwise I'll read it online and then download it to my External HDD.

Most of the time, I read the scanlations online (especially if the manga's not being sold in America). But if I happen to be able to find the book in a store, I'll read it that way.

I buy mine online or at borders, I can take the books anywhere. Plus I just don't need a reason to be at the PC more than normal.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed - Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.'
