| I called his first attempt failing when the Admiral announced he would have to learn from a Cantonese master. Cantonese and Szechuan cuisines are quite different, Canton prefers milder flavors and less spice to focus more on bringing out the natural flavors of good ingredients. Especially vegetables. |

| I extremely enjoy the amount of tropes, so nice. Nice that Mao got accepted at Yosen Shuka, but the training there is just the beginning. Looking forward to more. |

| I hate how they tried to bully a young chef with promise into giving up like that. Trying to teach him that "the cooking world is harsh" doesn't cut it either, they talked with contempt about his mother and his region out of nowhere for no good reason. But well, I'm impressed with the anime taking into consideration the different characteristic traits of each region like that, so the people of Canton have to deal with muddy water, huh. It has to be hard, but finding a way around it is their job and Mao succeeded. Can't wait to see him learning more about vegetables. Mei Li seems like a nice girl too, but Shance seems a bit bratty. |

| Maybe just me, but I'm pretty sure you eat food and don't smell it as if its a candle for example the fruit durian smells horrible but taste delicious for many people. |
