Was hoping for more Mikage and Hachiken development, they made some good progress this season though. Really good and looking forward to more.

Waiting for this series to get confirmed for publishing in english too..

It takes guts and the balls to stand u for your friend ,failing is every goes through even though some cocky ass people think those who Gail are losers well I say screw you ,you learn more from the mistake and grow wiser.
But seriously Hachiken talking back to your dad that is tough, and my dad looks and acts like his .
Scary ..
The character development through all the characters is great they all changed in a good way for the best in their lives.
The end?!
What hut I want season 3 hopefully soon.

@fishergiirl16: Your comment describes perfectly how I feel about "Silver Spoon". Slice of Life is my favorite genre because I feel more involved when the problems and challenges the protagonists have to face hit close to home and their experiences might be relevant to my own life, something that is less likely to happen with action-oriented fantasy Anime series.

But to me it seems that Slice of Life series with older protagonists than Junior High level, relatively realistic and serious storylines and an appealing but still "moderate" art style (instead of overly cute character designs) are very rare to find. The only series of that nature which had me hooked as much as "Silver Spoon" are "Nana" and "Honey and Clover".

I really love Silver Spoon. I honestly don't know what to do without it. It's made me interested in the agricultural business, just as Space Brothers made me more interested in space and actual astronaut training.
(Too many meaningful slice-of-life are ending this season ;___;)

There's a Slice of Life Anime set "in Space" that I enjoyed a lot called "Planetes" (or "Planet-ES"). It's set in a not too distant future where manned space travel in Earth orbit and to the Moon is affordable for the general public but further travels to other planets in the solar system let alone outside of it are still not possible.

The plot is not about aliens, armed conflict or anything like that, but mostly about the interpersonal relationships of the employees of a department on a space station in Earth orbit. It's a science fiction story, but I'd say "Silver Spoon" feels closer to this than to, say, "Ano Hana".

Great ending, though I want some more of this T-T 9/10. Hachiken’s dad was pretty intimidating, but at least Hachiken stood up a bit and talk some sense into him. Mommy was nice to see his son studying in a school farm. Now, waiting for a 3rd season for this.

I can’t help but laugh about the yogurt parts XD.

Thank you, Silver Spoon, for being one of the few titles that made this Winter season tolerable.

It may not have been a conclusive ending(obviously), but it's everything I could have hoped for in an ending here. Hachiken sure has come a long way.

Hiromu Arakawa deserves the incredibly high sales(and high praise) that her manga has been receiving. She's a brilliant writer, and a very versatile one.

Aaaaahhh there goes my weekly Gin no Saji T_T

Objectively speaking this is BY FAR the best anime of this winter season. If there's one thing to nitpick is they didn't show Mikage's reaction when she met Hachiken's mom for the first time. Other than that this is the perfect way to end this season.

We still need to wait a very long time for season 3, maybe in two years once the manga covers their 2nd year.. probably longer if they decide to make a 2-cour.

Gin no Saji always ends up pleasing at the end of every episode. The TV announcement tricked me and nothing bad seemed to have happened. I like being proven wrong. This series can definitely be unpredictable at times. Loved it. Hope for Season 3 eventually.

Nice to end it here, feels like a - hopefully only temporary - end.
Although I'd liked it to see the scenes where Hachiken's mother walks around the school and meets all the different people, especially Mikage. I was looking forward seeing this animated, same with the Valentine's Day. *winkwink*
Ah, well, more to look forward to in S3 in some years or so.
S1 was better overall but I enjoyed this anyway very much.

I absolutely loved this season!
Sadly, the noitaminA schedule for the next 4 seasons has already been revealed so if there is ever a 3rd season, it won't be before Spring 2015.
Well then... I'm off to read the manga! I just have to know how things will go for Hachiken and the others.

The manga's selling like hot cakes, hence no problems on that end. But I really enjoyed this adaption. A-1 did a surprisingly good job and I'd love to see a third installment.

Perfect pacing, beautiful animation, educational tidbits, strong character development (not just of the protagonist), great mix of humor, slice-of-life, and drama, and most of all the depth of the message this anime is trying to tell the youth of this generation, including myself.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Please dont end!!!! This show has brought me so much joy and also knowledge of things i didn't even know i was interesting. (Agriculture)

I really liked the scene where Hatchiken meets his old classmates and he gets to show off a bit. I see myself in Hatchiken a lot and i wish my encounters with former classmates would go that well :D

I also like the tiny Arakawa cow-figurines on the shelf. Nice touch!
http://i.imgur.com/MQGUQtx.png

But ugh, so many plotlines left hanging; including Hatchiken x Mikage... They didn't even kiss! *sob* And will the cute ginger ever learn French?!! The suspense is killing meeeeeee!!!

Anyway, while i'm glad we got to know his mother a bit better, I wish we would also learned more about Hatchiken's father since he is a major reason why Hatchiken is the way he is. After 22 episodes he's still just kind of a dick with little redeeming values other than his financial support. (As far as Arakawa dads go, he is no Hovenheim) We also don't know a whole lot about Hatchiken's brother so another episode about him would be nice, but even if we dont we at least know SOMETHING.

Wow, it's been a while since i've been so into an anime... This series definitely gets a 9/10: it is fantastic, educational and funny as hell. It could easily be a 10 if they continue making the show, while also keeping up the quality AND of course finish it off right!

SEASON 3 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

OMG, Yuugo bumping into his dad that's holding a plumbing stick xD
I'm glad he's learned from Aki's confession and speak up to his dad during dinner too
Talking about livestock it felt similar to what Eren said before

His mom visiting the school was so heartwarming with a food feast following up

The end was shown there, but I really hope for a continuation
Third season and get Aki and Yuugo together, please!

The OST is very nice

Anime well built, it has been able to give the best episode after episode, coming up with the second season to surpass the first.
The merits of this are varied and although it is not comparable to the work on paper, the animated version is worth so much.
Too bad I did a good initial preamble of Hachiken, would have made it the occasion praying the vision of the speech of the mother on the character of Hachiken before joining Eozono.
Plot very serious and funny at the same time also, well built with no points incomprehensible, I'm sorry that it has not been adapted throughout the manga, this is a shame.
Narration usable, I would paiciuto there was more life in it daily.
Drawings and animations good, even the scenarios were not bad. Another series that can boast the studio A-1 Pictures, over that silly anime ...: P
Final rating of 8.5/10!

Really glad for S2, there were characters developments and drama and comedy and the like, but they kept the slice of life, relaxing atmosphere that this usually gives, i really loved every minute of it. Willing to wait for an S3. It still kept reminding me how rewarding and amazing agriculture can be.

Though I was not too fond of the more standard anime tropes like the permanent cockblocking (let's call it that), the show still managed to transmit quite a few things about animals (especially lifestock), agriculture, how urban and rural life differs, goals and life situation pressure. A silver spoon isn't made to be a permanent part of a human body, after all, that'd be poisonous. And it was quite amusing. Not quite the Nichijou-level, but this isn't what Gin no saji wants to be primarily.

Still, without a third season to round things up, especially about Hachikens goals and his romance with Mikage (holy cow, what's taking them so long?), this feels quite incomplete.
