All I want now is for SnK to average over 50k. Should be an easy feat, might take 2 or 3 weeks though, since next week is packed with crazy releases. And winter season, RIP. All I hope for now is that D Frag gets a manga boost. Love that legit show. |

Yay for Saki! :D I don't really keep track of blu-ray sales so I'm not quite sure what's considered good but if it's up there, Saki must be doing pretty well! |

All the crap non action animes are selling too high. From the blu-ray sales only Attack on Titan has action with serious story. What is more disappointing that most of these selling high are probably the worst animes in this season. Even imocho is better than any of these. No wonder why most animes these days are horrible. I guess we will never see anything like berserk or claymore with a proper adaptation. People prefer slice of life and generic comedy shows. |

The only good thing in this bad week(Winter...poor winter) is Yowamushi Pedal volume 4 hitting 5k! GO GO YOWAPEDA! If it can get a 4k average for 13 volumes, that's good enough for me. |

If it can get a 4k averag3 for 13 volumes, that's good enough for me. Isn't that due to a lot of extras though? If memory serves right, each volume so far had something attached to the discs that warranted those fairly decent sales. I'm not surprised by any of those sales. SnK sold as well as expected and it averaging 50,000 is alright and justified in my eyes. While Chu2 Ren's modest success is no surprise either given the weak performance of the sequel. I was one of those who anticipated its arrival, but ultimately it was a huge let-down and something the fanbase didn't need. jmal, don't let the weak sales get to you that much. People will buy the discs if they like the show. If that's not the case, you cannot do anything but keep enjoying and importing an anime *you* yourself like. There were a bunch of shows in 2013 whose terrible performance in the sales department honestly left me baffled. I couldn't understand how so few people shared my enjoyment of the shows. But looking back at it now, that's just how it is. That's how it's always been and that is how it will be in seasons to come. |

Even if it has extras, it's being surprisingly consistent which is more than I can say for other female oriented shows. Only volume 1 had a super extra yet these are the sales so far: 1: 6,370 2: 7,239 3: 6,512 4: 5,095(only first week data) Volume 4 which had a less interesting extra sold 200 copies more than what volume 3 did in it's first week! And even though volume 5+ don't have any more extras, volume 5 looks like it could sell 4k(maybe 4.5k or more with storefront effect like previous volumes). |

Let's take a look at the past winter seasons bestseller. 2010 - Durarara 18k average 2011- Madoka 71k average 2012 - Nisemonogatari 60k average 2013- Love Live 29k average I think this year's winter season will not go down without a fight. Hozuki might have consistent numbers until the last volume. Maybe some other title not released yet will have a miraculous storefront boost. Maybe the titles that charted this week will get also a miraculous storefront boost for their second week. I'm not giving up yet. |

Can I ask what exactly were you guys expecting for sales numbers? This Fall season has been really weak, pretty much the weakest anime season I can remember since the mid 00's, and all the series are pulling the numbers they deserve to get. Is there actually any Fall anime which deserve to break 10K? You guys seriously can't think that crap like Sakura Trick deserves to sell better considering how little plot it has and how the DEEN quality is present. |

The most unfortunate of all here for me is Sakura Trick. With such poor sales all hopes for more Yuri anime like it are gone. Sad times :( As for others, I expected Chuunibyou to get a drop, but these v1 sales are a pretty steep drop. Saki sales are low as well which lowers chances of another season showing more of the tournament. Overall, it's another disappointingly low selling season. |

It's getting Love Stage! and Dramatical Murder this summer season and(provided they don't make Dmmd a second Togainu no Chi) if they sell the same way as Sakura Trick, then it's goodbye to BL for the next few years too. |

Wow all these people saying winter season has been poor.. are you guys trying to be high class critics or something? personally I don't feel there's much difference between winter, fall, or even summer 2013. Every season has good and bad shows. This winter alone has a lot of entertaining anime. Certainly the likes of Gin no Saji can't be considered poor? D-Frag, Nisekoi, Tonari no Seki-kun, and Seitokai Yakuindomo are also some of the funnier shows in the past year surpassing any comedy show that fall & summer had. There's also Mikakunin that's getting quite a good sales so I'm not alone in thinking it was a highly entertaining series. There are also some like Sekai Seifuku & Witch Craft Works that's highly original yet doesn't get that much exposure. If anything this winter has been quite good compared to previous seasons. I won't be surprised if many of the shows manage to sell quite well. |

I had argued that this isn't really good for anime before and that eventually it would start dragging overall sales and standards down (and it looks like things kind of crashed a bit this season) but of course people yelled at me and told me what an awful person I am. I definitely was wrong about whatever Kyoani produces always being the top seller of the season. The fact that they were still close in a season like this with another poor effort from a show that even it's own fans from the first season claim was a tremendous letdown and there were IMO far more complete shows that in another era would have probably been solid sellers like Noragami just shows me that the Blu-Ray scene really has problems. If anything it just continues to illustrate that it is pretty much impossible to get even remotely decent Blu-Ray sales anymore unless you follow a very specific formula and checklist. It doesn't matter how technically good your show is, unless you have idols or cute girls or school settings or whatever you might as well just go home or just play for Ad revenue or merchandise sales or something. |

I posted this on my own site in the v2 event ticket drop thread, but I might aswell post it here. A list that included the estimated drops basted of v1's that got released this week.
Sonico v2 went down even more. from 1.0k to 0.5k Sakura Trick did not change/barely change(went up 0.1k). Mikaunin went up by a decent amount, from 3.6K to 4.8k. It now has a good chance at reaching a 5k average. Kaioshin_Sama said: [ Your non-action cute girls doing cute things shows. Look, I already proved you wrong on this multiple times, stop bringing it up. jiraiya_sensei said: Wow all these people saying winter season has been poor.. are you guys trying to be high class critics or something? personally I don't feel there's much difference between winter, fall, or even summer 2013. Every season has good and bad shows. This winter alone has a lot of entertaining anime. Just so you know, we are talking about shows. Not the quality of the season(a season with ST and Saki can't be bad). |

I won't be surprised if many of the shows manage to sell quite well. we're not talking about the quality of the shows, but about the sales, which are pretty poor compared to other seasons. |

It's hilarious that people have picked a week where an action-based series sells 6 times that of anything else in order to try to prove their idea that action series do badly. |
There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do. |

And its not just any action series, its an action series that outsold every single 'cute girls doing cute things' show ever made. Talking about picking a bad week for a rant, eh? |
