| Finally got around to watching these 2 episodes. I like the twist on the whole "Montague vs Capulet" rivalry... The idea of Juliet living in hiding all of these years disguised as a man... hmmm... interesting... we shall see... Romeo and Juliet (the original Shakespeare version) has always been one of my favorites, and I've always hated it when people mess with it, and screw up a good thing (ex: that God awful movie w/ Leonardo DiCaprio)... so I was hesitant to watch this... VERY hesitant... I (so far) like the different "spin" that they put on it, so that it's not the same old R&J storyline being portrayed. I love the fact that William Shakespeare is actually a CHARACTER in this anime (LOL)... Still... I'm skeptical... and we shall see... |

| Really, really liked episode 2. The animation was pretty in this episode and the chemistry between Romeo and Juliet was portrayed quite nicely. And the story's interesting. :) |
| I liked it very much. When they meet on the flowerfield it's just so beautiful! I was a big smile at that point. |

| I don't think I've ever started feeling with the characters after only two episodes. (Except for the anime from which I already read the manga before wathcing the anime.) This series is really capturing me! Btw; Willy=Epic. |

| Wow, I can't believe his family killed all of hers! that's heartbreaking! They have such great chemistry and I really want to see them together, maybe as long as he's nothing like his family she will still be with him. They are so cute together :3 I also thought it was a bit like Gankutsuou! lol. |

| Watching the dub, I love the flowery dialogue. Though, it's strange when the show switches between the more modern speech and the more archaic speech. It feels like key scenes were lifted from the play, but the in-between conversations were filled in with normalized speech. It's strange seeing Shakespeare play a role in his own story. It's also strange seeing an English play, based on an Italian story, get interpreted by the Japanese, then readapted by Americans with a mix of 21st century American speech and 16th century English speech. I'm not really comfortable with the Montagues being portrayed as viciously evil. At least, I would have been fine with both the Capulets and Montagues being equally evil. Here it only paints one family being really bad, while the other seems justified in its hatred. Rather than trying to stop the family feud and bring peace to both sides, I fear that this'll end with one being triumphant over the other, which doesn't seem right. Or, if they somehow come to peace, it would require a LOT of blood spilled, particularly on the side of the Montagues. I'm also not sure about Mercutio, as he's supposed to be Romeo's friend. He seems antagonistic here, which is weird. That being said, with the amount of bad blood shown here, I think the show should still work out. Romeo and Juliet are at an interesting crossroad, where Romeo doesn't know of Juliet's identity, but Juliet knows of Romeo's. Because of this, Romeo is currently assisting the Red Whirlwind out of good will, rather than love. This'll probably compound later in the series, so I'm hoping for that development to be as dramatic as I hope. |
