This is a hugh amount of manga they're not allowed to publish anymore. The same thing happend here in Germany. Tokyopop wasn't allowed to publish several manga anymore, but but only a few, not THIS many manga-series. o___O' ![]() |

Further info about which titles are to be "left in limbo" can be found here, according to Deb Aoki, About.com Guide to Manga. This may answer some of people's questions. Also, here, where she quotes the actual confirmation by TokyoPop of the split, and discusses some of the signs leading up to it, from an observer's point of view. Dark Horse and DC Comics (edit: sorry, meant to say Del Rey, NOT DC!) have been publishing some of them, but will they pick up new ones? And apparently, the Kodansha USA is still in the will-it-ever-happen stage? Also, webcast by TokyoPop planned for tomorrow (see 2nd article above for info on access). elune said: why? i really hate these companies licensing manga titles and then the release would be like the following year or something =_=. even fan scanlations take like, 2-3 days :X That's because they are publishing actual books and have to wait to get the actual material to work with not like scanlations where it's taken from scans of the manga's weekly or monthly releases. |

This is actually kind of result of an old news. Kodansha is trying to set an international publishing company at USA, just like Shueisha have, because they realized that it gives more money, rather than selling the rights to another publishing company... just wait a little more, and this series will be published by the new Kodansha´s company. |

SkiesOfBlue said: DAMNIT! not Confidential Confessions CC has been OOP for awhile now, as far as I'm aware. It's a shame, though - it's one of the best manga out there. I picked it up just before all stock was gone from a UK import store. Like I said in my original message (wasn't included), the biggest loss here is GTO: The Early Years. Only 80/267 chapters are on the net, and Tokyopop are being forced to drop it two-thirds of the way through, leaving the content of the final five 370 page volumes untranslated. It has some content on par with its sequel and I've been enjoying it a lot... |

There seems to be this misconception in this thread that these titles are going away permanently. If I had to guess, I would say that Kodansha is probably going to reprint a lot of them under their new American imprint. I wouldn't worry so much. KyuuA4 said: Kodansha says, "TokyoPop, you're fired." Wow. Losing that many titles... that's crippling. Especially since the only other titles that TP puts out are crappy manwha and OEL. oh snap. :O VIZARDichigo said: Wow that is a lot only own like two on the list so not a big deal for me but still thats a harsh blow to the manga industry. Not to the manga industry. Just to Tokyopop. Serves them right. They have made a lot of mistakes in recent years. And when you run a company badly, that company is going to suffer. |

It looks like stuff that Kodansha publishes will be distributed here by Random House (http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/15748.html), so perhaps those old Tokyopop titles will turn up eventually as Random House books (except for some of the Clamp titles that Dark Horse is doing omnibus things for, such as MKR and CCS) |
