| I'm not a big fan of shounen because they are mostly marketed towards children. I do however like some that have a lot of effort put into them and have good stories. Here is my list and if any of these aren't shounen please inform me. 1. Gash Bell - I just love the story and the characters. It's not perfect but it always leaves me wanting more. I put it at the top because it's blends action and comedy and adventure into a perfectly great manga. It's not for everyone but for me it's the best shounen manga I've seen that would draw in a large crowd. 2. Shaman King - It's a series that surprises you at almost every twist and turn. The story is engaging and the characters are pretty funny. I liked it a lot and that's why it made it so high on the list. 3. Kinnikuman - This is truly a classic and even though you may be confused most of the time it's a manga that doesn't disappoint. 4. Onidere - It's just so funny and the characters are all completely insane. It's very over the top but it works out very well in the end. 5. Mahou Tsukai Kurohime - This manga just has such a rich story and an interesting mythology attached to it. I couldn't put it down for a second. 6. Keroro Gusou - This manga made me laugh so much. It has a great comedy style that may only make a small collection of people laugh but it works out well. 7. Mirai Nikki - This manga is freaky but it really leaves you on the edge of your seat as you're reading it. The characters aren't the best but the story can't be beat. 8. One Piece - It may not be the best but the story and the characters are engaging and places you in a unique and colorful world all its own. It can drag on a little too long at times but it is still a great manga. 9. Gamble Fish - This mangas constant twists and turns just leave the reader excited and wanting more. The characters are pretty flat but I still enjoy reading it. 10. Ichigo 100% - I'm putting this so low on the list not because it's the worst but because I read it a long time ago and I don't remember much about it. The reason it made it on the list is because it made me read it. I read it during a time where this subject matter would have normally bored me but it kept me reading it through over 100 chapters until I started discovering other manga. It keeps you reading it no matter what and that's why it's great. |

| (In no particualar order) 1- Kinnikuman(I love how unique and crazy it is. Also Suguru is one of my favorite anime characters period.) 2- Yu Yu Hakusho(A rare fighting series that takes time to develop the characters before the Ass kicking begins). 3- One Piece(I love the whole romantic adventure feel to it) 4- Eyeshield 21(The art is excellent and it's hard not to root for the Devil Bats) 5- Hokuto no Ken(Gorgeous art and ultra violence punctuated by the occasional melancholy scene) 6- Jojo's Bizarre Adventure(I like how strange it is and the intelligent feel of the fight scenes.) 7- Saint Seiya(Greek Myth is one of my hobbies, and in addition to using that as a visual motif, the series heroes' physical vulnerability fits the gimmick well.) 8- Dragon Ball(Yeah, Yeah, I know that I'll get shit for this one, but I feel that the manga suffers from almost none of the problems that the anime did, and I'm willing to overlook them to spend some time watching some of my favorite characters take part in some of the bes choreographed fight scenes around.) 9- Black Jack(Osamu Tezuka's best shonen work. The crazy medical melodrama really drew me in.) 10-Fullmetal Alchemist(A shonen series with real intelligence! OH MY GOD!) Honorable Mentions: Shaman King(I like it, but it's just too by the book for it to be on my favorites) Mazinger Z(The absence of sympathetic characters keeps it down) Captain Tsubasa(I just don't like it enough) Slam Dunk(The art is just sort of...blah) Kekkaishi(See Shaman King and Slam Dunk) Devilman(It's too damn short!) Naruto(Dear God, it Draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaags) |

| Top 10 shounen mangas, right? Not shounen animes, well let me see... Top 10 so far are: 1 Beck 2 Slam Dunk 3 Suzuka 4... From the 4th place I can tell that: Eyeshield 21, Ichigo 100%, I"s, Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, Double Arts, H2, Rurouni Kenshin, Mx0, Hoop Men (maybe), Hokuto no Ken (maybe) and Dragon Ball (maybe) all them are good mangas, but I don't know what positions they would be. And I know I put more than ten mangas but all them would dispute the first 10 places. PS: I considered only mangas finished, mangas ongoing like One Piece, Good Ending, Fullmetal Alchemist, Mirai Nikki, Psyren, Sket Dance, etc...I don't considered them. |
