I don't particularly like watching anime movies but I happen to watch this dubbed on Disney one night. I thought it was pretty bad and pretty decent at the same time. The voice acting was terrible for me, though I never really liked dub to begin with and the granny appearance turned me off. I was hoping it was the dub factor that made me not like this as much as you guys because this show is ranked really high to my surprise. Though might be nice to hear that I actually watched Spirited Away dubbed and I really loved the show. I've re-watched it countless of times when I was a kid.

So what I'm asking is since Spirited Away dub was for me as good as the subbed does that factor applies the same to Howl's Moving Castle or is the dub really inferior to the sub in this anime?

Original dub is better in most shows, no matter what language the original dub is. So yeah, watch it subbed.
You all need to watch Nami.

Try it sub. You might not just enjoy the movie and that's fine.

Normally I would say subbed > dubbed . . . However in this scenario it is honestly dealer's choice. I would advise not watching older Ghibli films subbed (since they actually probably couldn't afford quality voice actors early on).

I have seen it dubbed and subbed and would say I really didn't mind the dub. Disney, for what it's worth, knows a thing or two about animation, and has some pretty good voice actors. If you hated the dub (the girl did have a hit or miss voice) then perhaps you will like the sub. But it sounds more like you couldn't stand the MC being old . . . That isn't something that would be fixed by a different voice actor that is also aiming to play the role of an old granny.

Princess Mononoke --- I can't stand the sub * shudders *
Howl's --- I can't stand the sub. Especially the English Calcifer has much better voice acting and sounds much like the Genie in Aladdin
Kiki --- I can't stand the sub. Kirsten Dunst does Kiki char far more justice
Ponyo --- I'm neutral, mostly just to hear the boy's mother go "baka!" to her sailor husband in Japanese is something
Gedo Senki --- I prefer the sub. Therru's Japanese voice actress does her char much justice

I just re-watched it subbed. I enjoyed it though I admit the voice acting wasn't all that great.

Hmmm... Depends on Howl's Japanese voice (I haven't watched it subbed)
