This manga had some great potential when it started, but as a lot people know there was 100+ chapters of fan service and very little plot development (hell if any), which was the downfall of this manga.
A lot of ppl are comparing TLR to Mx0, which in my opinion there is no comparison, Mx0 had potential to become a great manga, but was canceled, TLR on the other hand the author decided to end the series, not Jump.
The end is what I expected but not what I wanted. I was hoping Rito was going to chose a girl and at first I thought he would chose Lala, but then the typical "freak accidents" started and I knew how it was going to end after that. But what can you expect from a harem manga like this...

It's not that he gave up, it's that he wasn't able to make atleast a good or decent ending all in one chapter.

Obviously everyone that read and liked this manga hated this ending. I liked this manga alot, but the way the mangaka ended it lowered my ratings. But than again, obviously people opinions don't matter (especially ones that have been purchasing the volumes when released). The mangaka could of gave his readers alot better ending, even though we all expected this to happen. Hah! Last page asking for us to read their next "creations", I give up reading anything created by Hasemi Saki... i still liked Yabuki Kentaro drawing style though.

i'm kind of disappointed right now that it ended, but hey- yami pretty much she said she has feelings for him, and most of the girls got confessed to for one of the biggest rofl moments ever!

I liked To love ru just as much as Mx0 and both endings suck. This really lowers my rating of the manga. sob

I'm surprised so many people expected some ending as if this was some kind of serious Romance story... after 162 chapters of comedy, we get a comedy-ending. I don't get this nerdrage at all. :/

I'd be disappointed if we had gotten anything conclusive and happily-ever-afterish... that's be as appropriate as Rito gunning down the rest of the characters with a sniper rifle.
I'm glad TLR stayed true to its roots until the very end.

whoa... i finished reading the chapter and then it said it's over. that while maybe not surprising still caught me by surprise. As for the ending, imo it was the only way the manga was ever gonna end however many chapters it took.... rito was never gonna pick someone. however, it felt (since it as) rushed. oh well, as much as i liked it in the beginning i'll probably be happier now that it's over, even if i'm not exactly satisfied with it.

I think it's not being rushed,, more likely being pushed to rushed, and about the ending, like i said, Ritto is not thinking about Lala, and Lala thinks that Polygami is OK, now where goes that rivalry with Haruka? if both are gonna be taken by Ritto

I didn't mean the final ending, like the anime had
which the manga didnt have. I mean i know for sure i didnt' read that in the manga. Also i think i'm able to "diss" because ( i'm going off on whim here) unlike you i actually bought all the volumes out and this turned to be a huge disappointment.

Hmmmm It's true TLR stayed true to its roots... but heck the lame ending was a lame ending hahahahaha... Okay I'm being an idiot... So lol... He confessed to Lala his true feelings.... and how come the girl took it as an everyday thing.... Man how's that possible huh?? How can Lala be sooooo dense..... Shit Alien Girl... He really loves you.... Not only love you as any other people you care for, but he loves you as his girl, his woman!!!! *facepalm* Oh well... Then Oshizu ruins Rito and Haruna confession and make Rito confess to everyone else.... Man even to Mikado-sensei.... *facepalm* And YAmi really saved the day this time!!! Not even Yui saved the day.... She was just as clueless as Lala.... Tsk tsk... Oh well... I'll give this a 7/10 just because the art is great, the story is null, the characters are alright and I definitely enjoyed this thing from the start to the end...

BTW.... Why every manga I started in the last six months look like they're slowly falling down? First was ES21.... and now Freesia and TLR....?

I'm glad this ended. It was just stretching things out way too much.

...But bloody hell.

Did they really have to up the lameness of this ending by bringing the events full circle with Rito accidentally confessing to everyone else just as he had with Lala when this manga started?

It really did feel like a waste of time to me reading the last 15 or something chapters when they should of been focusing on a conclusion matter. I understand that the manga started getting poorly constructed, it happens. But still, to get rewarded with a crappy ending is lousy.

That's like beating some hard ass game and all you get is a "game over" screen at the end.

Wow. Shittiest ending ever. Haruna running away topless.... Wow just wow. I want to meet that guy and punch him in the face. I supported the HarunaxRito and was okay with Rito admitting to Lala as long as Haruna go the same thing, but no. Fucking no. The biggest disappointment of my Friday.

Okay this is what really frustrates me - already from chapter 1 has Rito been trying to confess his feelings for Haruna, but now after 162 chapters what has happened? nothing! for a haruna-fan (like myself) that has been rooting for HaruRito all the time, this is a HUGE disappointment...

guess this manga shows that all that's needed to be a success is nice art with lots of ecchi:/

i want more! how can it end like this? what will every1 do? how can he just tell them he doesnt love them but meant to say it to haruna

3 of them love him anyways so any attempts to say it was a mistake would crush them and he would feel totally bad knowing his personality he would never hurt any1 like that espicaily because he knows them all

sure he might to lala's sister but to Ren and Yui it would crush em

well he would do it to ren cus hes a she he she w.e

and to yui im not sure he noticed yet... so if he did it it would be out of stupidity and end up having her hate him for a while

it just might be truely impossible for him to tell haruna he loves her

theres no closure at all in this episode

Since it wasn't posted here yet and the hate seems to continue, let's hear the real reason why it ended so suddenly.

LateBloomer from OneManga forums said:
Here are the details. It's quite a well-known story, actually.

- There is this person called Nakamura Ine who is quite famous on the Nico Nico website (a large Japanese online community somewhat like Youtube), who turned out to be a minor (last year in high school) and also insinuated that he has something going on with a Kashiwagi Shiho.

- Now this Shiho was the wife of Yabuki Kentaro, the author of To-Love-Ru. She met Yabuki when he was looking for assistants, seduced him and ended up becoming his wife and gave birth to a daughter.

- But she hardly did any house work, neglected her daughter, and spent most of her days in front of a computer spending time in Nico Nico etc.

- January 2009, when Yabuki was sick with flu and bedridden, she kidnapped her own daughter and disappeared, and it turned out that she left her daughter at her parents' place while she was doing this and that with Ine.

- February 2009, Yabuki 'begged' Shiho to return for the sake of their daughter, and Shiho did return to Tokyo, but few days later she dropped out once again with the girl, this time taking a notebook computer and Yabuki's credit cards. Yabuki later stopped the cards, but a large sum of money was already taken out.

- Yabuki looked for them everywhere, but to no avail. March 2009, Shiho demanded a divorce on the grounds of personality clash and a large chunk of Yabuki's assets, but when the evidence of her infidelity was discovered on her computer, she then changed her stance and demanded money in exchange for the custody right of the daughter.

- Realizing it would take over a year to settle things, Yabuki accepted her conditions and got the daughter back.

- Haruna Sairenji was based on Kashiwagi Shiho, and there is a reason why her role was reduced dramatically since volume 13, and Yui getting more prominent. And apparently Shiho has sued/demanded more money for the character of Haruna recently.

- A comment of Yabuki's while this was all happening:
[While I was working hard on a manga that was focused on taking young girls' panties off, another man was taking my wife's panties off.]

EDIT: I forgot to mention that following the dispute over Haruna's character right, Yabuki feared his daughter getting hurt by all the debacle, so he accepted Shiho's demand yet again and ended the series prematurely.

Yes, life can be so sordid sometimes.

Yabuki is not the author though, just the illustrator but that doesn't change things (besides, nobody would want to read TLR if it were to be continued with a different artist, right?)

I was expecting too deep of an ending given the genre but the way it ended was to subtle. It was probably hard as the artist to decide whether the story should end with one harem being focused on, or whether it should have ended the way it did with no real resolution.

Overall for Jump, I don't know if I will have any will power to read until the very end anymore.
