The story follows Hiroshi Kuzumi, a 16-year-old boy who has just moved to the seemingly serene village of Jogamachi. Nestled in the mountains far away from the city, the village is divided by a river that separates old Jogamachi from new Jogamachi. Young Hiroshi soon discovers that the village’s ancient as well as mysterious traditions and customs have been kept alive over the ages. Although a bit bewildered by the new environment, Hiroshi begins to settle into his new life. While he has never been the type to win any popularity contests, he quickly earns the affection of his classmates. That is with the exception of aloof class president, Nemuru Kushinada, whose only words to Hiroshi are a warning to stay away from old part of town. It is there that terror and mystery await him.

For some reason, I get the feeling I've seen this anime before.

*Insert cute yangire here*

Yep, seems "vaguely" familiar indeed.

Awesome!
Seems it will be something like Higurashi 2,which is absolutely fine by me :)

Really hope they won't screw it up in any way(very low chances though)

Oh well...okay, no matter how bad the show would be, Saki is in it...which means I'll be watching it. Could be her real breakthrough role as regular VA, that'll add more members to the fanclub I'm "maintaining" here...maybe.

Dam, was hoping for Hemi-you, the game op was awesome. Oh well, FictionJunction isn't too bad, but nothing special either.

How is Higurashi an "Alternative Setting" to Ookami Kakushi?

Nnngg... that cast has me a bit worried. I didn't like 07-Ghost or Lucky Star all that much, and looking at Umineko as an example of what can happen when Ryukishi's work gets butchered... ugh...

Still, I hope getting this away from DEEN will help at least a little, and the return to the village setting will make this feel more like Higurashi, i.e. actually good. Here's hoping for the best.

The Earth King has invited you to Lake Laogai. You will be honored to accept his invitation.

Actually, Ookami Kakushi is an alternate setting to higurashi. (Ookami wasn't out when Higurashi was around).

It's an alternate setting because the storyline of both Higurashi and Ookami Kakushi are so alike.

All of Ryukishi07's works are alternative settings to another one of his works. (Umineko is an alternate setting of Higurashi also).

So... the stories have something to do with each other just because they're similar and have the same creator? I don't think so :/ I mean, Higurashi and Umineko are related because they (are implied to) share characters and whatnot, plus being from the same series "When They Cry". But as far as I know, Ookamikakushi doesn't share any characters with either.
