So Manaka lost his ability to love or something like that? It was clear that she is confused with the word "like," and then she doesn't remember what happened before Ofunehiki. His decision, which to me is that she discovered that she liked Hikari... she didn't remember that she feels for Hikari... or by Tsumugu.. That's why she was so indifferent in some moments? Obviously she's not acting normally. Her actions was very strange in the whole episode. She said that God asked something... and she gave it to him... is it?

Why Tsumugu at the first place? What did he done to make Uroko angry?

Chisaki still seems to be so oblivious of Tsumugu's emotions I wonder when he tells her. I'm afraid of his granddad, his death could be catalyst for them getting together. My bet is he won't go anywhere in the end but let's see.

And I am not sure I like trigger-happy Manaka, she asks no questions about people, ena and so on, nothing seems weird to her, something feels off. Maybe some of her memories are gone together with her ena? Or is this change related to her shift to human? Interesting thing in sligthly changed OP, it seems she would be able to get her ena back thanks to Miuna.

I like her contrast against adult Chisaki though. There is a real difference between them now.

Hikari being unnecesarily too pushy around Manaka again, he is so jealous it have to be evident. But... he changed, everyone changed. Yet Manaka, she is still the same.

Could be Uroko can possess her now and cast spells through her at will or maybe they somehow share the same body (or she even has sea god inside) but that remains to be seen. Her sudden awakening could start saltflake dissolution prematurely which would be bad in many ways.

Great episode, but 24 minutes seems like 10. The show is so engrossing that it goes too bloody fast.

The changes to the OP was a nice touch. Manaka was so charming this episode.

Now what do you guys think it can mean?

I think:
You Remember the blue flame that Uroku-Sama always use to give the sea people?

Manaka and Miuna become the sea gods wives or become the new protectors of the sea, since Uroko-sama was the only one that could give people that blue flame (Energy) and he was the protector of the sea so... Im kinda scared for the ending, as the ships for ManakaxHikari can never happen if she goes back to the sea god with Miuna.

My guess?

Your guess is exactly what I have been thinking since Miuna went down.

The Japanese kind of value their silence, though. Watch any independent Japanese film; you don't know true "silence" until you live through those moments...

Chisaiki's actions alone pretty much spoke for her that she wasn't exactly happy that Tsumugu was leaving whether it was just because she'll be lonely (the only adult out of the group) or a mixture of actually missing him too.

I don't know if anyone noticed - what, again, highlighted why Chisaki and Tsumugu are different from the other kids (besides the obvious age difference) is how the age difference actually affects them. Chisaki gave the sweet salt cream puffs to the kids, while she had coffee jelly (a bitter food) with Tsumugu. Bitter food usually indicates you're an "adult", lol. But interestingly enough, Chisaki made the mistake of eating something sweet afterwards, distorting her taste... makes you think maybe it's a way to show how Chisaki is still stuck between being her friends' age (14) versus her real age like Tsumugu (19). I believe that is what makes her the most lonely, particularly with her counterpart leaving for university (in terms of understanding her).

And then... other things people have already noted~

^^^^ Big yes to this!!

Did Manaka just wake up with the mentality of a 9-year-old in the body of a 14-year-old? All of that bizarre hyperactivity was getting on my nerves. I started wishing she would go back into hibernation.

Now what could Tsumugu have possibly done that was so awful that it warranted a curse from Uroko? I think Uroko's just picking on him. Probably because he's lonely and bored.

I have been thinking for a while but if manaka gains her emotions back i think she would rather go back to the sea , so if half of her ena is lost. What if tsumugu's grandpa gives his ena to manaka ?

There's definitely something off with Manaka here, her eyes at the dinner table... there's 'something' lost from her.

As for Tsumugu & Chisaki's moment, i did't see any awkwardness there, it seems Chisaki was thinking( or feeling?) about something (maybe it has something to do with Manaka, 'changes', Hikari, or loneliness?), so she does't seems to focus there.

Small detail : it seems the Nurse who was reading at the cafeteria gave them privacy to chat.

I think Hikari, since in preview he something like "looks I will confess again"
because Manaka forget what happen before festival
and her talk with Hikari.

Eh... I had hope that now when Manaka is back she will confess her love for Hikari
and this will be end of shipping drama...
This just ruined all my efforts to avoid spoilers by not watching the preview =(

Manaka and Miuna as the Ojoshi-sama? That's some serious foreshadowing.
I kinda agree with the people posting here that Manaka lost her feelings of love. That explains why she doesn't seem to care about seeing Tsumugu on her first day of waking up (If she still has feelings for him) and she forgot what she's supposed to tell Hikari.
Looks like we'll have a sad ending. Will it be better than ep 13? I'm so excited!

Decent episode. The symbolism all around the place really piques my interest.

First off Chisaki on the rooftop and the cream puffs. I have to agree with everyone else here, it seems like Chisaki has finally noticed that, despite all her closest friends telling her time and again that Chisaki is just Chisaki (i.e. there's no change with how THEY percieve her), she has finally noticed that she herself HAS changed. The symbolism of the coffee jelly and the non-alcoholic drinks from prior episodes seemed like her own attempts to grow up and turn into a proper adult, thus drawing up an invisible line between her and her closest friends. This may or may not be due to the fact that she has started to realize her feelings of love/respect for Tsumugu, since he's been an adult his entire life, and she seems to be wanting to follow in his footsteps somewhat.

The interesting about this though, is the fact that in the last episode, Tsumugu was trying to act like a kid with his Tangerine sweet drink when conversing with Miuna (perhaps an attempt to lessen the distance between the adult him and the oft-childlike Chisaki?). In any case, these two seem to be finally getting closer now than ever before, even taking into account of the five year time-skip.

Also, did anyone notice how Kaname slept over at Hikari's place? Or how he didn't seem to have much of a reaction when Chisaki left them on the school rooftop? If it were the old Kaname, I would bet my house that his eyes would have been forever following her every move. Could this be a sign that he himself is finally starting to let her go? This I can only speculate. (Of course, the KanameXChisaki shippers will be pulling their hair out due to frustration by now). Maybe his confession in the next episode will finally sort out the lines in the sails for all those ships, just in time for the final drama this show will bring.

Now then, the symbolism of Namaka (as Akira lovably calls her XD) losing her memories, could be a sign of revenge from Uroko-sama, or a test of sorts. Hikari forcibly stole Manaka from under the sea, that coupled with the fact that Miuna has gained what Manaka has lost seems to point everything in the direction that someone previously speculated: Miuna is to be the replacement sacrifice that her mother Akari should have been five years ago. As I see it, all problems will be solved if Miuna returns to the sea as a sacrifice, because then there would be no further reason for the Sea Gods not to return whatever Manaka has lost (be it love/memories/feelings or whatever). However, convincing her to go and her family to LET her go will probably be the hardest thing. I can totally see the drama that the revelation from Uroko-sama in the next episode would bring. That said, i have a feeling that a certain red sea slug will help out in the end somehow.

Hikari is stuck, he's so stuck its not even funny. He still thinks Manaka has feelings for Tsumugu, and to top it off he can't even ask properly because she's lost her memories of it all. Angst much? Wonder how he'll feel if he realizes that he'll have to sacrifice his niece for his love.

Ahh... another long wait to the next episode...

I wasn't sure if i was reading too much into it, but when tsumugu broke the news that he was leaving for university again, chisaki kinda hurriedly finished off her coffee jelly, a sign that looked like she was displeased with the news. What I love about the scenes between them (kinda the case with all tsumugu scenes) is that there doesn't need to be a whole lot of dialogue, but subtly, there's still a lot going on.

Seems like other people had a similar train of thought.

Manaka definitely is off. They even made a big deal of showing hikari and kaname recount their struggles and apprehension over waking up, and contrast it with manaka, who's acting like there's nothing to worry about. Sorta confirmed when she totally forgot what she was supposed to tell hikari after ohefuneki.

I think some people are overreacting to the 'cursing' thing. It seems fairly innocuous, and the fish goes away after 2 weeks or so. The first thought that ran through my mind was that tsumugu might be developing ena himself/being recognized by uroko-sama like miuna was. Bc to my knowledge prior to this, I thought only sea people (manaka) got the fish head 'curse'.

Pretty good episode overall, except for the miuna and sayu parts. I skipped over all of their scenes. Like it's the same spiel with these two girls. Cry about unrequited love from hikari and kaname. Cry about not actually being part of the group. Give Up. Rinse and Repeat.

im starting to see Tsumugu will finally have the spotlight with in the next couple of episodes. (hopefully we will be able to know his past on why he's so emotionless and such an adult, as well with his whole story with him avoiding his mother.)

Another thing that is bothering me is how Manaka didn't care about Tsumugu at all when she woke up... It feels as if the writers are doing this on purpose to build up another hint between Tsumugu x Manaka like the pre-timeskip.
Seriously think about it, before all the time skip, we were all rooting

Tsumugu x Manaka, Hikari x Manaka, Hikari x Chisaki , or Kaname x Chisaki.
No one didn't even expect the Tsumugu x Chisaki until the timeskip happened. (except for a few people)

Can we expect a confession from Manaka to Tsumugu or Manaka crying about Tsumugu being way too old for her now?
(Obviously Tsumugu will reject Manaka for Chisaki lol)
Also a confession from Manaka to Tsumugu can lead to Chisaki realizing her feelings towards Tsumugu as well b/c of jealousy maybe.

I think there were a couple of important things in this episode that need thinking about. The creampuffs: when Chisaki leaves the roof and the creampuffs behind for the other five, I think she is clearly indicating that she is no longer part of their group. She's an adult, like Tsumugu she has grown and matured during the time skip, she doesn't belong with the junior high kids anymore. The second thing is the fish curse: by cursing Tsumugu, Uruko has actually recognized that he is one of the sea people. The fish curse shows that he has stepped out of line or been disrespectful in some way (porn mag suggestion probably).

And if Hikari acts a little immature sometimes, that's nothing compared to how Manaka appeared in this episode. She isn't acting like a junior high kid (even a bit of an immature crybaby as she was originally presented). She's acting more like a seven or eight year old. I can't see her as shipping material for anyone.

Actually you're right about before the timeskip how Manaka had to tell something to Hikari but it wasn't 100% exactly a confession imo.
Honestly at this point we know Tsumugu is 100% confirmed with Chisaki but a little hint from Manaka to Tsumugu would be greatly appreciated. This is because before the timeskip there honestly was a slight interest/connection between Manaka and Tsumugu. I really don't want all that story/ hints to be abandoned.

(The scenes where Tsumugu reels in Manaka with his boat, Manaka saying how Tsumugu is the sun, etc etc.)

I'm still skeptical about who Hikari will end up with though. The writers wouldn't give attention to Miuna as much if she doesn't have an important role in the timeskip episodes. I also do believe that the ena Miuna gained is from Manaka as few others have mentioned. This might suggest that Miuna might be the new sacrifice for the ofunehiki?

Something's definitely off with Manaka.

1. Too cheerful. Others would be scared after waking up.
2. That scene with Akira and how everyone else was relieved but Manaka had this creepy expression on her face as if she was the perpetrator. She might be possessed.
3. She seemed to have have forgotten about her like for Tsumugu and for Hikari(?). Even if she doesn't like Tsumugu anymore, at the very least she would want to see him. And it seems weird that she'd forget the conversation she had with Hikari too.

I think its Uroko's scale.. Its just a sign that Uroko is indeed nearby (in land).

Does anyone feel this episode is strange? Not in story-wise, but graphic-wise. Maybe any change of the illustrator?
I just feel that the graphic become rough, the line.. I always adore NagiAsu's beautiful graphic.. But this episode is really bad..

I agree that something off with Manaka.
The new OP seems hint Manaka is back to take Miuna's place.

Chisaki n Tsumugu scene is too comfy, I honestly expect more. Maybe a confession or skinship, but theres nothing..

I think the preview showed either its Kaname or Hikari who will confess.
