Sometimes I feel like people don't understand how these weekly rankings work. Of course Naruto and Bleach are up there. A new volume of each series came out and being the first week in its sales -- and given how popular these two shounen titles are -- they sell well and above everything else.

But wow, the top 4 of 5 contain WSJ series. They be raking in the sales this week...and probably the next few.

Yay for Bakuman and Eyeshield 21. ^_^

Even though Naruto and Bleach are on the top, they sold much less at first week compared to their previous volumes.

No, it's actually stronger than before. Naruto 46 1st week sold 504,024 copies. Bleach 39 1st week is 532,553 copies. The last three volumes sales are lower than current volume. In fact, all of the top ten except Shin POT which is a new manga, have stronger opening than their previous volumes. I'm especially happy that Mago and Toriko break the 100k mark within their first week. I hope they can reach 200k in their next volume.

What did you expect? They're the second and third most popular currently running series in Japan, obviously they would come in first and second in volume sales with their new volume releases.

Why are people even disappointed in this ranking, it's not like it's gonna make any differences if Naruto, Bleach, and Bakuman weren't in the top 3, right?
