Use this post to nominate 1 anime song. Read the rules over on the main page and don't forget to upload your track someplace. All nominations will be closed after 10 tracks are nominated or until next Sunday rolls around. After that, we'll proceed to a voting phase. Feel free to discuss your nomination or other people's picks in this thread. Theme: Funky/Groovy I'm genuinely curious as to what kind of tracks we'll get out of this theme since I pretty much pulled this one out of my ass. I feel like it'd be cheating to use anything from the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack (or anything Kanno, period) if simply because the whole fucking OST will blow this category away. Mushroom Hunters, Tank, maybe What Planet is This.... too easy. There are some great choices out there in obscure places. I almost went for something from .hack//legend. When it came down to it, though, i wanted something truly old-school funky, even if I knew it couldn't be as badass as a Kanno song. I almost picked Blue Funk from this same OST, but then I heard this song. Title: Yellow Alert Anime: Trigun Composer/Artist: Tsueno Imahori Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loSkhwnr4E4 This song sounds exactly like something Grand Funk Railroad would have played as they drove songs into long odysseys on stage. I grooved along to it, so I knew it was the right choice. |

When I think Groove and Funk I think the 70's and what better anime to represent than Lupin the Third. Title: Jamming Anime: Lupin III, Sweet Lost Night Composer/Artist: OST Track #9, Yuji Ohno & Lupintic 5 with Friends Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPvtgjdpNIc |

I'm going to have to put a placeholder here since I know which soundtrack I want to take mine from. I just have to decide on the track: Title: Aerobatic Funk Anime: One Outs Composer: Akihiko Matsumoto Link: http://www.imeem.com/people/w5QDXl2/music/EMVpitCz/akihiko-matsumoto-aerobatic-funk/ More people need to listen to this album at any rate. ... one outs ... >_> <_< Someone put in some monkey punch eh, yea they are funky doods. I dunno, I'll shoe in some big band that nobody listens to anymore... Title: 006~Shingaki Anime: Blue Submarine #6 Composer: The Thrills Get it here: http://sharebee.com/b05d143f If I could, I'd nominate the whole first album. It's good stuff all together in a package, even if some of the individual tracks don't shine by themselves. The whole ebb and flow of the CD just works and every piece pulls it together, and it's a lot of fun. But this is your straight-up 90s Japanese big band. Not a genre I'm in to but I bet these guys rock in a live. |

This one will be interesting, and I'll see how you interpret this one. Title: R.O.D. Anime: Read or Die TV Composer/Performer: YKZ Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qM0ABSfc5lQ&hd=1 So, this is the opening version of the song. On the official OST however, there's http://www.imeem.com/ise/music/WcDMJWns/ykz-rod-instrumental/, known as R.O.D. (instrumental), which seems like YKZ having fun with the opening, and extending it out to a full version of the song. And that's the version that I really want to nominate. But I think the only version we hear in show is the opening version, unless I'm mistaken. Is it a possibility for me to change the nomination to the "full" version of the song? :/ |

I would probably have nominated Groovin Magic from Diebuster or To All The Dreamers from Yakitate, but both have won previous segments before and there's other stuff out there. Also seriously considered Gun's & Roses from Baccano, but I think it's better saved so that the inevitable Jazz / Big band category isn't completely dominated by Kanno stuff. Anyway... Song Title: Afro Gunsou Anime Title: Keroro Gunsou Composer/Artist: Dance Man Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3fQ0ysKPdQ |

It got on the single for some reason even if it's not used in the show... I actually remember asking Iwasaki about this, he wasn't super happy about what happened...lol. |

Woops, better get my nomination in quick. Song Title: Soul Eater (so scandalous) Anime Title: Soul Eater Composer/Artist: Iwasaki Taku Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HC6_YuM6oc Funky in its own corny way. The Engrish rapping doesn't help, but I loves it anyways :3 |

Unless I can't count, I believe that's 10 tracks. And not a Bebop track or Baccano's OP in sight. Amazing? Anime Instrumentality: Anime Music Blog Latest reviews: Summer Wars Soundtrack | Kemono no Souja Erin OST Participate in the Anime Song of the Week Contest |

I was thinking to vote Baccano's OP more for the jazz genre...if this was intended to be a future topic |
