Yep that's certainly true. I'm a bit disappointed Hisoka hasn't been involved more recently, even if it was just to stir things up a bit.

With Gon repeatedly hearing sounds that no one else could hear, I figured something bad was going to happen. The barnacles way up high gave it away.

Can't believe Gon went so far out of his way to save that one dude...

At the end Karupica said that the place would be completely destroyed and that there would be nothing left. Why is it that the ship there on still there then if it happens every 10 years. Nothing should be there.

Another solid filler ep. Slightly questionable fit in HxH canon but that's easy to overlook. The director seems much more comfortable adapting original stuff than Togashi's material.

Hisoka is somehow more amusing from earlier on than in 2011. 可愛いなーショタコンです。♥︎

I think I can safely say that I'm fully enjoying Hunter x Hunter now. It's been a while since I've watched something with a really strong direction, and even longer since I've watched something that has followed that single direction for this many episodes. There are times when it feels like the show is trying to do too many things at once, such as that fight with the 5 prisoners, but even that had its own interesting little bits.

Apparently there has been filler here and there, but without knowing the source, I can't tell what's what. At least for me, it shows that the show's competent enough to stand on its own at least. Great stuff so far.

I love how the background characters are starting to be fleshed out a bit.

So this phenomena only happens every 10 years? Unlucky, though apparently this batch shows more promise, so it evens it out.

This filler is really good and it's just too nice how well all the characters interact with each other. But that's also the problem: Given the (manga) premise, more of them act as rivals and thats what also drives them not to hesitate in terms of killing each other (which actually has happened before). So it is somehow ... off the original.

Nevertheless nice to see.

I hate it when the protagonist risks his life for some asshole who would sacrifice him if he would gain anything from it...

When something important is happening Hisoka doesn't get involved too much, I see.

It was a nice episode, I liked that they all formed a team in the end.

It's really interesting from a productional standpoint how HxH has given all of the other applicants such individuality.

There's apparently 36 applicants left (stranded) on the island. Roughly half of them have diverse character designs and have had a dialogue or scene devoted to them.

When Hanzo instructed everyone to get inside, there was that animation of everyone running up steps. Each character was given a fluid running motion. Then when they were heaving in the guy stuck on the motorized boat... and a large chunk of people were seen with the rope. The same goes for the group of rebellious men who called Hanzo a cue-ball head.

A lot of these people have distinct appearances but might've not even said a word yet. But everyone is always present to the point where you start recognizing other "background characters". It's all really cool. In other animes, it's always just the MC's surrounded by a crowd of still background characters that change completely with every shot. I love the attention to detail here, and the character designer for 1999 HxH deserves a raise.

Also, like someone else said in the forum, watching all these strangers finally interacting together, often for teamwork purposes, is entertaining too. Heck, even Tonpa was doing his share. And we get to see how genuine and kind the character of Hanzo is. Everyone's supposed to be rivals, but it was interesting seeing him place his hands on Killua's shoulders and pulling him back when a wave came.

These episodes ended being better than expected. Well, surely, it looks like a weird test, but all that clue finding was funny. It’s funny how Hisoke is just sitting there, chilling while the whole island collapse. I like Hanzo’s personality, he’s like a good guy. A worst storm, I guess they must get out of there before the 24 hours.
