I didn't enjoy the fact the entire episode pretty much took place inside of the hospital. Nonetheless, there was some good background for Gaara. Which was good. Looking forward to the next!

Glad to finally understand some of Gaara's motivation. I also like the directing of this episode it was sort of trippy and had me believing that characters that weren't even any where near the scene were showing up.

It's interesting, though, that Gaara is pretty much the exact same thing as Naruto but just had a different, and harder, path in life. Obviously, that terrifies Naruto so...we'll see where things go from here.

You can't help feeling sorry for Gaara yet you know he's like a devil inside I really thought Naruto would have changed into a fox if Guy hadn't come.

I'm interested to get more of a feel for Gaara's character. I feel that he may be being controlled and forced to be the way he is. If he could be rehabilitated, I think he would be a great asset to the Leaf Village. I'd like to see him and Kakashi's Crew work together.

Rewatching!

Garra's past is dark and makes you feel for him, but he is also very demonic at this stage.

I loved that Shikamaru visits Naruto in the hospital.
MAJOR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!
If you remember during the exams and previous episodes, Shikamaru seemed to be one of those people annoyed and irritated by Naruto's presence. Now he's in the hospital watching over Naruto and brought him the basket of fruit. Even though it was for someone else, he still expressed a kind gesture and 'friendship'.

Slowly, all the characters are beginning to respect Naruto a lot more and are taking him seriously, rather than seeing him as a joke. Major contrast from the beginning of the series!

As for Gaara, there's certainly inner conflict and duality with his character's personality. That sand spirit seems to have a heavy influence over his character but I think he has a weakness when it comes to women. That's most likely why he didn't attack Sakura when he was entering the hospital even though he was lurking behind her..from the flashbacks he was having, I think he killed his mother or someone he really cared for and has regretted it ever since.

Good episode!

Watching this as my second time watching the Naruto series, it's crazy how much Gaara's backstory is the exact same as Naruto, except Naruto made friends, while Gaara, not sooooo much

I was kinda hoping Gaara was gonna fix Lee or something, but guess I was too optimistic. A monster, indeed but he's hurting too.

Lately Naruto has been a drag to watch (especially with pervy sage) but I really liked this episode! I love the complicated character that is Gaara and I'm excited to get to know him better :-)

Surely, they wouldn't let Gaara continue to participate in the chunin exams when he's a complete psychopath? I get his backstory is sad, but I still don't like him as a character

There were several suspenseful scenes, I thought Naruto and Shikamaru were in Chouji's room. During this time, the girls walked around the hospital without knowing what was happening. Gaara was so obsessed with killing Lee to feel more alive or seeing others suffer for being an important person. First time I see Naruto this tense, how scary he is, or do they have the same past.
