i renamed the original file but with this MALu always recognizes it as "Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch R2 Picture Drama". This is the picture drama of season 1.

When I use the Play Next button to open the 9th episode of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 2, it opens the 9th episode of Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka instead:

If I open the Haruhi episode manually, it's recognized correctly, and the same goes for the Akane episode, the only problem is with the "Play Next" button and the "Play Episode #" option, and only happens with episode 9.

Yep there was a bug with playnext, it's fixed already for next patch.

Basically, when I watch Chinese subs, they use the format
[SUB][ANIMETITLE][EP#][other stuff]
I have to manually change to
[sub]_animetitle_ep#_[others] for it to recognise.

The recognition engine in the updater seems to have a problem with any words or lettering in the title of an anime other than the actual title unless it is in parenthesis or some other form of separator. For example when I play "The Sky Crawlers (2008) BluRay.mkv" it comes up with the "Media not found in your list" followed by the "Anime search failed" bubble. However when I remove the BluRay from the filename and play it as "The Sky Crawlers (2008).mkv, the now playing pop-up comes right up with the correct anime. This has happened on a number of animes that I have played and I am using "The Sky Crawlers as just the most recent example.

To add a file in that pattern, I have to remove the group from the search string. But if I do so, following problem/bug happens:

The system recognizes the file if I start them directly, but I can't use the "play episode x,or "play next" button, because the system doesn't find it that way (even though it's all in the same directory). That also happens with other files, mostly if the group is not in brackets.

At rare times, the system reacts similar to unknown files. No play next feature, but somehow it recognizes the show, and sometimes even the correct episode.

Edit:

In this case the engine got a problem with the (DSA) part. http://myanimelist.net/anime/222/Mezzo_DSA

As you can see DSA is part of the name, and the files show the same problem. While manually played, the engine recognizes the anime and correct episode, but no play next or play episode ## feature.

change the "&" to "and" and it'll work. Though its somewhat of a problem that it doesnt recognize the ampersand

I can fix it by adding "Phantom - " before the title starts, but it should be recognized as it is.

I did an episode scan so Malu could show which episodes I have 'In disk'. It says that I have 13 epsodes of Suzumiya Haruhi (2009), which are actually only 9 and that I also have 25 episodes of Hayate no Gotoku!!, of which I don't have any.

In both cases it fails to differentiate the second from the first seasons, which are named too similar. Can this be fixed?

It also doesn't recognize the eps of Kanazuki no Miko and Tales of Symphonia that I do have.
