> "because its a place where I can actually discuss the anime the I'm following."
lolwut? Because you can't do that anywhere here? > "broken english from a majority of the members" And 4chan speak ISN'T broken English? > "To think I ignorantly thought 4chan was complete shit because of nonsense I heard." It's not a very ignorant stance if you see numerous threads of idiots spewing garbage (which is what people have shown me). |

Well, I do understand that point of view, but I just couldn't keep myself from feeling I've lost valuable time at the end of the anime, so I gave it a bad grade.
Maybe it's because of a different environment, but I can't seem to think this is how a teen would behave, I think those things we're just overestimated and overdramatized so a certain plot can be constructed. Ofc there were sluts in high school, and ofc there was drama and teen pregnancy, but there wasn't so much drama, and the characters didn't react in such a dumb way. Atleast where I live.. |

Haven't heard from you in a while.

erm, okay since this is an anime based discussion site, I have to have a discussion about you with a certain anime we've both seen (obviously) so differently
School Days. 10? Please tell me, what did you enjoy in this series, I seriously want to hear the other side (no flaming, just argumentative) |

Pretty much the same as you: Enjoyable although the quality varied a lot. Currently varying between a 6, 7 and 8 depending on the arc for me.
And yeah, Kumagwa and Anshin'in need a spin-off. An erotic spinoff. With Anshin'in's 100.000 "special skills". |

Hey, Medaka Boy just ended in Japan. What is your final verdict?

I'll also offer a few counter-arguments to the 3 points you listed as something for you to think about:
1. "people who give everything 9 or 10" The scale is subjective and therefore not standardized. Think of it as using a different unit of measurement (e.g. 37 degrees celcius is the same as 310 degrees kelvin, one looks larger but they both represent the same thing). 2. "people who ignore every single plothole and give still give their favourites 10" Plot holes are always justifiable using ad-hocs and alternative interpretations. It is impossible to objectively determine whether a true "plot-hole" exists or you simply misinterpreted the text. 3. "people who based everything purely on enjoyment even when the writing and characters are obviously atrocious" What defines writing of "good quality"? Does it have to contain zero contradictions and paradoxical events? Does it have to be congruent with social values? Does it have to use words and ideas of high complexity? Tao Te Ching and Les Fleurs du Mal are two examples of brilliant classics that are paradoxical and decadent respectively. What defines poor characters? Do they have to be simply appealing to be good characters? Contain multiple dimensions in their personality? Or perhaps follow exact Jungian dichotomies? Does art really have to satisfy more than just enjoyment? Likewise, does a work need to be enjoyable to be considered art? |

You aren't understanding me.
Your criteria is not objectively better than all those things that you listed because your criteria is not objective. P.S. I said "anyone else's" not "everyone else's". |
|
xEmptiness | 04-12-13, 5:33 AM
You can't have "as objectively as humanly possible", something is either objective or it isn't. That's like saying "as alive as possible".
Examples of objective criteria: 1. The number of times the main character talks to the character with the second most screen time. 2. The average number of characters with dialogues per episode. 3. The number of characters with blue hair. As you can see from above, objectivity is a poor way of assessing artistic representations. Your criteria is subjective, and is not objectively better than anyone else's. |

That's not objective at all. An objective quality is something that is true independent of subjective consciousness or interpretation...
In simple terms, if you want your criteria to be objective, an algorithm on a computer should be able to rate anime based on it without human input. What you actually meant was rate anime based on criteria other than just enjoyment. That doesn't make your criteria objective, it's still subjective. |

Want to provide me an "objective" rating criteria?
Considering your rating criteria is so objective, I don't see why you haven't normalized it yet. |

The first few battles are a bit stale (Araki had to adapt to a different fighting system, after all), but after that it is diverse, creative and the last half features a lot of tactical and badass fights.

Dio's fight is the longest, but not the best. There are some cool fights going on, like a gambling fight that has some serious Kaiji vibes, another fight against vampires (with STANDS) or ta battles against your surroundings. It's villian of the week, but it is also highly popular due to the introduction Stands, its humour and - of cours e- the return of DIO.

Also the fact that after the building had been blown up; it shows the outside view of it from a distance with only a small corner blown up, not even close to resembling what it had in the previous scene.
Why so much hate for RDG? I think it could make a solidly average show. |

About jojo being one of the best adaption in recent years? No, I'm crying in a corner right now :P
But seriously, this was a fun ride and I'm already a bit hyped about Stardust Crusaders. |
