Oh haha thanks for the happy thanksgiving ^^ Sorry I haven't been really replying to any lately because well...same reason as always, I'm lazy :P Plus I have a ton of hw/studying to do since next week is finals week. But of course, excuses excuses since I'm still watching my anime and reading manga. I'll try to get back to you when winter break starts, though I may not do that either if I'm having too much fun in Taiwan XD don't be mad at me :D
Stark700 | 11-30-13, 7:33 PM
Oop, sorry for late reply...was browsing through comments and realized you had a question.
For this Fall season, it's okay I guess but not as strong as last year imo. Gingitsune is a pretty special series and I plan to review it. I find it similar to Natsume's Book of Friends that turns a simple concept into a charming story with its characters and story. I look forward to every episode on the weekends.
This season, I'm pretty much everything although some aren't what I had hoped while there were some surprises as well.
Regarding Coppelion, I'd just marathon it. I've been reading the manga so I follow it weekly but the stuff is rushed as hell with one dimensional characters, poorly written story, and some lack of characterization in general. The production quality and soundtrack is decent along with the premises but it's definitely not something that I would classify as decent this season.

And Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!
Hope you are warm and full and happy ^^

I thought it was so-so as the comedy had me going but became a bit stale. The manga had better comedy and drama.
The story adapts more for characters and their development so far that the anime lacked. So basically kinda in the same boat as you. I don't entirely blame the adaptation itself though considering it's a one-core so they had to rush some material in. Takao is probably the most well developed character and so far, some of her aspects are explored but only vaguely. It seems like they are pouring more screen time into Iona now as she is more of the star of the show; at least in Blue Steel anyways.
What direction this show will go with is almost certainly an anime only ending. How will they pull it off? Who knows but I hope they will do it right. The show itself is entertaining though but lacks development in depth. Haruna and Takao are among some of the more developed characters in the anime so far though.

Ohi there :3
Sorry for the late response but I think I've seen you around MAL before. I take it you're a fan of FMP? FMP: Second Raid is one of my favorites from Kyoto Animation works and I'm also enjoying one of the manga series: Full Metal Panic Sigma.

I reinstated the First Impressions Club. ^^'
Can I convince you into sharing some of your stuff there? Just post a link to your specific blog entry under the appropriate topics. Thanks. ^,^
If you have several impressions (mini-reviews for different episodes or several arcs) for the same anime, please put all the links in one message (which you can edit later if you ever make more).

A matter of timing. I don't visit everyday--only when my net access is cooperating. :P
The goofy art of Kill la Kill is something akin to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and maybe even Needless. >,<
I'm guessing that after you've recalibrated the scores to fit within the rubric, the order of those would be roughly if not exactly the same! ~,^
In my probably unwise opinion, a rough analogy for the process involved in properly using any rubric is that you're forcing the foot to fit into the shoe instead of the other way around. ~,~' It *is* an amazing skill (that can be learned, maybe), but not everyone can (or will make the effort to) do it so we end up with skewed aggregations.
Another issue. You might have a 100% compatibility with someone, but that can be misleading as you can be liking and disliking the same works for entirely different reasons. This is due to that being computed from a single value that is merely an overall impression of various factors. :s
Anyway, I'll let you know if my pet project inches forward (at all, haha) or you can join the club where announcements will be made (if you haven't joined it yet).
Nagi no Asukara has beautiful landscapes, but the story itself doesn't have much shock value for me. (Perhaps, this is due to my being a fan of the original The Little Mermaid and other similarly depressing, tragic fairy tales in my childhood.) Contrast that to something like Chihayafuru where I got impressed that a supposedly seemingly boring game like karuta (or rather the characters that train for it) can be interesting.
I'm saddened by the recs comparing SekaTsuyo with Hajime no Ippo. In boxing, you can't officially fight with someone from the same gym. You also can't accumulate that many losses. I don't really know anything about pro wrestling, but will a gym actually allow that?
Wasn't watching ongoing anime while I was offline. :( Was making do with manga and some of the older anime in my silo.

I would attempt to rewrite something only if I can at least remember the salient points. ^^'
Lol! I should get back to watching Initial D. Probably once I get off my summer video gaming splurge. I've been buying games on sale and trying them out. And then squeezing in anime when I can.
I'm a bit envious that you're able to rank with a fixed integral scale. I never could get the hang of it (and realized that the mechanism was an "uphill Sisyphus effort" anyway) which prompted me to start devising that hobby project plan regarding an alternative rating scheme. Unfortunately, it hasn't seen any concrete progress (yet) despite almost two years of thinking and more thinking. I allow myself to get distracted too easily I guess. :s
Thanks for sharing your insights. How you analyzed gave me more experiential data to contemplate on with regards to that unorthodox scoring project. :D
I've grouped the 36 shows I'm following from this season's offering into three blocks according to anticipation. However, those groupings can be misleading because the eagerness to watch the next episode and actual level of enjoyment during the viewing can overlap. For example, I highly enjoy Non Non Biyori and Gingitsune for their relaxing sentimentality (similar to the peaceful times in Natsume Yuujinchou), but the slow and steady slice-of-life style does not make me wonder what will happen next episode. (Ah, right. Gingitsune's new characters made the show more flavor so it got moved up from the middle block.)
It's also affected by my having already read some of the related manga beforehand like with Machine Doll (6 volumes) and Golden Time (3 volumes), but is overridden by my genre biases for sports like with Yowamushi Pedal (7 volumes). This was the same case with Shingeki no Kyojin (9 volumes + 1 more while it was airing) where the anime did not adapt anything beyond what I had initially read.
Weekly Anticipation List (alphabetized):
By the way, did you notice that the main female characters in Strike the Blood and Kyoukai no Kanata have the same seiyuu? ^^ (I am entertained by Mirai's antics! She could very well have been plucked from the K-On! or Hyouka universes.)
Strike the Blood gives me Toaru no Index vibes because of the artifacts, familiars, fight scenes, and how the male leads are complementary--a Level 0 with a unique dispel ability in contrast to the most powerful who wishes to remain obscure.
Tokyo Ravens gives me a Shaman King vibe instead.
Diabolik Lovers is as painful to watch probably as much as the idol's pain in SekaTsuyo. :P "Give up?" "NO!"
Coppelion drops some questionable likely fictional factoids from time to time which breaks my slight enjoyment of the show.
NouCome is like wrongly hyped Haganai, but with some virtual lobotomization, it can be funny.
My nagging displeasure with Meganebu originates from the bright colors. Had suffered the same with Ano Natsu de Matteru and Tsuritama.
BlazBlue: Alter Memory isn't all that interesting (even if I try to psyche myself for it). Maybe I needed to have knowledge about the game it was based on, but then that would mean it really is a poor adaptation.
In summary, my currently highest anticipated newbies are Samurai Flamenco (*lol* and I didn't even expound on this), Galileo Donna, and (surprise, surprise) Yowamushi Pedal. The bottom of the barrel by a wide margin is Diabolik Lovers. Oh, and my favorite annoying character this season would be Mako from Kill la Kill. :P

How are you nowadays? ^o^
I actually wrote you a lengthy, meaty response before, but I changed houses before I could copy-paste it from my text file and didn't have internet access for a while, uhm, a long while, and so basically, it's gone now. ~,~'
Did you ever finish Initial D Fifth State? (Given the pacing I should have expected a cliffhanger, but I kept wishing it wouldn't until the end, and it left me hanging.)
Did you watch the Muromi-san OVA? That was a bit more vulgar. ^^'
Have you calmed down from your video game spree or is it still an ongoing thing?
Are you liking/hating anything significantly this season? It's almost halfway for the 1-cour ones so your opinions on what you've been following should be well-formed by now. *lol*
(Oh, you're right about RDG. I'm pacing myself at watching it at one episode per week and I am enjoying! Thanks again.)
EvianBubble | 10-31-13, 8:50 PM
Sure! Well I actually do QA or testing the apps instead of programming to make them. What happens is we get builds every day from the devs and we have certain stories to test. For example bug fixes or new features might have been added so we have to make sure they work. We also report any new bugs so that they can be fixed if they need to be.
Yep I agree, I want to learn how to program as well, seems like it will be a good skill for the future :)
tingy | 10-29-13, 6:50 PM
Hm Tokyo Ravens seems interesting so far, but I'm mostly indifferent to it as of right now :/ The CGI is ugly and so out of place (except I did like that dragon) and I don't particularly like the character designs of the eyes of the female characters, they look very odd to me. But I'm just nitpicking, my complaints has nothing to do with the plot lol. Yeah Natsume is a funny character, I like Harutora and Touji as well. And no I didn't notice it at all o_o I probably skipped the end parts :P I like Toyosaki Aki's character, but I find her voice annoying haha. I was fine with her in Kokoro Connect, but I really didn't like her in Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi....
Haha yup, I've been reading Golden Time since before they announced the anime~ Yes, Horie Yui definitely did a good job with Kouko, and I liked the development between her and Banri ^^ I'm for Linda x Banri, Nana is Linda's real name XD Hm well that's my take on it, you can love someone, but there are different forms of love. She may love Mitsuo unconditionally, but it's not enough just to do that. If she wants to be in a relationship, she needs to understand him and not just be dedicated and committed to him. I think she had a chance with Mitsuo, but she just never did it right (and well part of it is because of her personality that she herself doesn't like, if she could've been the way she is with Banri, then Mitsuo might've given her a chance).

Yeah, some of the things on my Watching list (such as Naruto Shippuden, One Piece, and Hunter X Hunter) could actually qualify for my On Hold list. But personally, I stay away from using my On Hold list because I like focusing on what I'm watching instead of coming back to it after a while. This is mainly because if I don't watch something in a long time I start to forget things and I would have to refresh my memory. But for the long running series I just listed, it's usually because I marathon them every now and then so I don't really feel the need to put them on hold. The only reason I would use my On Hold list is if I don't plan on watching something for a very long time, which is a rarity.
I don't think I've seen anything Read or Die related. I just added it to my list, though. Thanks for the recommendation! I'll try to watch it soon. If you stumble across my list and I haven't seen it, don't be afraid to remind me! I forget things, lol.
For Kyoukai no Kanata I meant "bad" insofar as there wasn't anything that really caught my attention. I don't think I have the right to call it bad just yet. So, yeah, I meant in terms of my own enjoyment. It's entertaining enough that I enjoy it! xD I'm with you on that, haha. So we'll see where this anime goes ...
EvianBubble | 10-27-13, 7:38 PM
Lol good for the company, maybe ... but bad for me, who is more important anyway haha XD Yeah we make mobile apps and apps for tablets as well :)
LoneWolfRain | 10-27-13, 11:52 AM
Wow, so that was a bad assumption on my part. I thought because of the "2" that it would be a sequel to the White Album that came out in 2009 (the first anime, I think). And I didn't even know that it already has a 2nd season. Thanks a lot for that link!
Yeah, I love the quirks of the main character from Kyoukai no Kanata! It all fits perfectly with her character design, too; glasses, petite, fitted sweater, and fairly short hair, lol. She has that nerdy sort of look. Just great visual characterization and animation in general in that series. The action scenes are beautiful. I ranked the show low as of right now because of the story but that is subject to change. Also, I'm just really liking everything this season.
I might pick up Yowamushi Pedal, as well. There are actually a few more anime this season including that and Samurai Flamenco that I'll probably still watch soon. It's funny you mentioned those two. There are just so many on my PTW list that I am trying to limit my seasonal titles to 12 so I have time for other series. xD
Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is actually one of those that are on high priority for me. I've been meaning to watch that one for a while now... Although I heard The Kingdom of Magic will turn out bad. But that's just what I heard.
LoneWolfRain | 10-26-13, 10:20 AM
My apologies for this late reply.
I didn't mind Mio losing the hair, haha. To be honest, I actually think she looks better! Oddly enough, I have that exact same "Long hair...gone T.T" reaction whenever a real life girl cuts her hair. For anime it's different though. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. :)
I don't have a favorite character right now but I will keep watching, so maybe another character besides Mio will grow on me. :P
I haven't been watching Arpeggio of Blue Steel. I'll add it to my PTW list, though.
I'm with you on the cute characters. It makes a series more enjoyable a lot of the time. As for what you mentioned, I'm really liking Golden Time, Galilei Donna, and Outbreak Company, as well. Here's how I would rank this season's anime (so far, in terms of my enjoyment):
Or something along those lines, at least. I haven't been watching any sequels because I haven't seen the previous seasons to any of the anime this season. I might try to catch up to White Album, though. Our list of favorites are pretty much the same so I don't see why I wouldn't like White Album!
EvianBubble | 10-24-13, 5:10 PM
I do QA (testing) at this app company. Nah you don't want overtime ... since I'm only there on a co-op I don't get paid for it >_< Just started in September and I'll be there until December ... then back to university for me! :P
Yeah! It wasn't that bad tbh XD Well yes I walk kind of slowly ... waddling? PLEASE ;P
Marko3 | 10-23-13, 10:34 AM
Must admit, haven't seen that Aikawa dance video yet (so how in the world could that happen? =))Well, I like this song a lot. This version is very good. Girls are both super cute. I only understood Ni Hao, I still don't concentrate myself specially on the lyrics. LOL, still waiting for that magic moment when everything suddenly becomes clear. Them song lyrics in japanese are so missleading. U could translate them in dozens of ways. I still don't know how young Japanese understand songs. =) LOL they probably have to buy additional explanation booklet with the CD.. It's all about sales, right? I did undertsand the title. It says Aikawa sings the song.
Yeah the second video is also amazing. Happy, energetic song. Music is very good and I like the vocal. Watching it right now, I feel so happy... feels like my life has been extended for another 5 minutes =) Well Penta and Aikawa Kozue are always super cute. The smallest long black haired girl, Penta, she's also one of the niconico dance stars. Her speciality are cute dances. Or I could say she dances only them, and she's awesome at it. No wonder she always gets invitations for dance events. LOL, but the funny thing, she's painfully shy. She has such stage fright, but only when asked something to say by MC. She couldn't string to words together. Really. But when dancing, she's so confident and in the zone. And she has luck, since in Japanese culture for a girl to be shy, actually is a cute trait that she can have. The small girl with red hair and big ears, I don't know who she is, but I've seen several her dances (she's good). Also some with Aikawa Kozue. And the girl with the glasses, she's also one of the stars. Her name is Norakura.
That hand pistol gesture is cool..
Ok, I end it with epic Tadanon (man, he has the moves). Just be Friends...
Marko3 | 10-23-13, 9:49 AM
yeah them hip thrusts in Lamb are tempting...=) and Miume does them best. And that nicovideo "Girls"... LOL... Miume with dark brown hair. Not used to it, but I think she's awesome that way too.
As u said, Maria in Lamb video has haircut as if she had some sort of horns.. reminds me of that side character, dragon princess from "Maoyuu Maou Yuusha".
About slice of life animes. Interesting, but I don't mind the story if it is fun to watch. LOL, and somehow I like this ordinary randomness. Just like in Life. And in "Non Non Biyori" there's that little girl Renge. Her voice and personality, just epic. And I like these types of anime where they speak this informal cute Japanese. Could listen to it for hours. Mostly they speak slowly, plain. So I can understand it well. Plus it's foundation for learning japanese. Totaly different from more story driven animes where the coolness of specific characters builds primarily around their adult formal, sometimes scientific way of talking... Though when "Rintarou" from "Steins Gate" starts talking to his phone like "Oi.. Ore da.../ hey it's me", that's epic too. I mean it always brings big smile when I remember him. Well Lucky Star, I have it on my wish list. But don't know much.
bloggbigg | 10-22-13, 10:48 PM
Just finshed Gin noSaji, thanks for the recommendation- it was very good! I liked the mix of seriousness & humor a lot- it was very well balanced. Looking forward to future episodes.
Marko3 | 10-22-13, 12:23 PM
...and yes coloring of them videos sometimes fades in quality when reuploaded on youtube. So I download dance videos from nicovideo directly, using nicofox plugin...
and btw I love http://myanimelist.net/anime/17549/Non_Non_Biyori
Cute funny girls, that nostalgic carefree life on beautiful summer countryside... I like this show a lot...
