Well apparently the Fast boot thing stops all other process from starting on your computer and my wireless was one of them. It basically enables you to boot your computer faster and then loads all your stuff. So i got rid of it, problem solved.

Well shit now i have another problem, i can't seem to access my wireless no matter what i do. It was just working fine yesterday and when i woke up this morning, suddenly it stopped working. It just won't connect to my wireless access point. The light laptop is solid green indicating that the wireless is turned on. I also tried resetting my router, didn't work. the only thing i did was install those software you told me bout and also that CCC codec pack but i don't how that can possibly ruin my wireless on the laptop but in any case i need to get that fix some how.

Well i fixed my video problems really fast lol, it was definitively that i didn't have direct X installed and also the CCC codec pack.
I am playing a 10bit video and it plays flawlessly :) My other laptop could no way in hell render these video's i guess it has to do with the intell HD graphics compared to my old nvideogo6100 Next im going to try some games on it like world of warcraft or something, nothing extreme, i just want to test it to see whats it capable of. I am also going to use those software that you reccomened to test temps and what not. |
|
ArtemisX | 05-22-12, 1:19 AM
lol Well apparently i ended up downloading a presentation instead no wonder. Now i got the real direct X software and im going to try and install the CC codec pack next.
Its the direct X SDK update, so hopefully its the right one. |

Ok yeah video playback on this is horrible, i am sure it has to do with codecs, but im trying to playing some 1080p and thier is some audio screeching noises and the video skips and thier is some pixelation. I tried to install the CCC codec pack but it says i need to install direct x first. SO now when i go back to install the direct x that i downloaded, its saying its an invalid file operation and i can't start it up, apparently the file extension is PPTX which is power point i guess, so i don't know im confused, i thought the direct x 11 would be just a simple .exe file.
In any case im installing the full Microsoft package with the excel, power point, word, etc. Then i am going to see what that file is, i downloaded directly from the Microsoft website. |

I installed the avast internet security full version, and it comes with the antivirus so i think thats pretty much all i need for protection and of course i have the Web of trust and addblock extensions.
Now what i did was i exported my favorites from my other computer to an HTML file and now im going to try and import them to my new laptop, hopefully it saves all my passwords and IDs and what not, cause it would be a real pain to get all those pack. Pretty soon ill be ready to start transfering all my files and data from other computer to the laptop i just wanted to make sure its secured first before i did that just incase i may of had a virus on my other computer. Im going to start installing the CCC pack here soon. |

Ok i noticed when i started uninstalling software that i have some of these software that are displayed in different languages and alot of them are active x plugins.
Do you i need to keep all this or which stuff can i delete? Bing Bar Control ActiveX de Windows Live Mesh para conexiones remotas Controlo ActiveX do Windows Live Mesh para Ligações Remotas Contrôle ActiveX Windows Live Mesh pour connexions à distance Microsoft Silverlight syncables desktop SE Windows Live Mesh ActiveX Control for Remote Connections 用于远程连接的 Windows Live Mesh ActiveX 控件(简体中文) 適用遠端連線的 Windows Live Mesh ActiveX 控制項 |

ArtemisX | 05-21-12, 6:07 PM
DAMN that is a long tutorial lol. I usually just use CCC pack, it comes bundled with all the codecs you will need and also windows media player classic is like the best player for watching anime in 1080p.

|
ArtemisX | 05-21-12, 5:53 PM
Yeah their is so much crap on here, lol some software that are even in different language that i don't need. I can delete nearly half of the stuff thats in the control panel.

ArtemisX | 05-21-12, 5:23 PM
Well im going to be typing on my other laptop, well im doing all this other stuff on my new laptop. its just easer that way. Right now its doing the back up recovery. Not sure how long that is going to take. Looks like hrs to me, i can still do other stuff well thats going though.
The track pad is actually a different material, its made of plastic where as old laptop had kind of a smooth texture finish on it. But the downside to that is finger prints and it gets smeared real easy, this one won't have that problem, but i have to figure out a way to fix the touchy track pad. |
|
ArtemisX | 05-21-12, 5:10 PM
Alright ill do that, ill look into it, cause yeah the track pad is a real annoyance right now lol. I am actually left handed so i use my left hand for the track pad to scroll but its so bad that it some times stops or skips and is very very touchy.
Ok ill back up my current windows settings, its going to take around 5 disks though it said. I have 85 processes running and i havn't even installed anything yet besides google chrome. 8 of those processes are google chrome from reason though, and i only have 1 page displayed and thats MAL, so thats kind of strange. What kind of antivirus or fire wall would you reccomend, i have used avg before but it never really worked out for me, i still get viruses quite alot. I usually use MSI and avg, and then i download like spybot for a spyware tool and like antimaleware for scanning the system for maleware if i get it. Right now i just finished updating windows, what are those software you told me before that you wanted me to use to test like temps and stuff and what not. First i need to get a video player on here to lol and check it out see how hot it gets well playing video. |

Alright i finally got my new laptop. Ok let me go over a few things first. I love the keyboard, its alot better then my old laptop, the keys have shorter key strokes. The sound is great, it runs pretty smooth and is light weigh, weighs a hella alot less then my other laptop did. So its comfortable laying in the bed using it. Anyways the only fault that i can see is the mouse track pad, its pretty touchy and sometimes even when im typing like right now, my thumb occasionally moves the mouse arrow some times. I can see this being a nuisance in the future. But i'll try and get used to it. I changed the speed on the mouse so its a little easer to click on things. But yeah thats its one major fault and the people in the reviews were dead right bout that was the touchy track pad.
Anyways the laptop did not come with any drivers, any dvd's of any sort, it just came pre installed with windows 7 home premium and alot of other software on here i have no idea what it all does. One of them is "RI recover" its telling me to create a back up of my windows on a disk. THat is one thing i guess ill have to do my self, if i ever have to reformat the HD, ill have to look up the asus drivers my self since it didn't come with a disk. I also have other software like "Battery saving" which enables me to switch from battery saving mode and "high performance mode" my other laptop didn't have that so not sure what the benefits of high performance mode is. I also got a bunch of other stuff like "asus life update" which im assuming updates all of my drivers and what not. "asus sonic focus", "Asus Vibe fun center" and "Asus tools" those are the applications that are on my desktop. I have not played any videos on it yet, i just now hooked it up and its charging the battery currently. So if their is anything you want me to test, look into, let me know since your a tech and know alot more bout laptops then i do. Just letting you know that i finally got it. |

Some one asked me bout the laptop just now and i gave them some information, ill just post the comment i posted to them. I get it tommorow though.
Jets | 27 minutes ago Will you be gaming on it? In terms of having it for general use (like school stuff, watching anime, etc), I think it should be able to multi-task just fine. I think it should run well and be reliable since those Taiwan PC brands have that reputation. That's definitely a great deal. Much better than paying extra for a Macbook Pro, which honestly to me is just a 'status symbol.' Like sure, if you're an artist, it's more practical. Did Bestbuy try to annoy you into buying their black-tie protection plan?? Nope best buy was actually really awesome, just when i was bout to buy it, i swear no more then 30 seconds passed and the price changed on the site from 329.99 to 399.99. I called up best buy and told them my situation, she talked to her manager and said just go ahead and let him have the deal, i was like HELL YEAH!. I actually missed the deal but they gave it to me anyways. Regarding the protection plan, its actually through the manufacturer which is "asus" instead of best buy which is the unfortantly thing because i have a local best buy real close by. I think best buy will still allow me to bring my laptop in thier though and have it serviced to some extent, just not replace by warranty, have to go through asus for that. Know its not really for gaming, though i could probably play games like world of warcraft and alot of emulator type games with the i3 core CPU. But its not really meant for high end gaming like skyrim, or battlefield 3 or any of the new MMO's like terra online. But i have a desktop for that, so its all good. I am mainly going to use it to for high end software, video encoding, photosohp CS5, premiere pro, networking software, mostly college work and watching tons of anime hopefully in 1080p with no issues. This laptop currently can't even do half of that stuff. I guess will just have to see what it can do when i get it. This guy from the same discussion is going to walk me through some tests he wants to evaluate on my laptop to see what it is actually capable of. |

So i guess Monday i get my laptop, i hope its a well built oiled machine lol.

I am hoping that i can get the same durability in this new laptop im getting that i got in this old HP pavilion. That would be sweet. But if it lasts like 2-3 years, im fine with that for the price is good. This laptop costed like 700 dollars, so it was alot more expensive.

Thier was no fan for the video card.. All the other fans were working, i checked that out my self when i took the cover off, but i slowly watched the fans spinning and as the laptop got hotter, the fans RPM would increase to its highest speed naturally. I think it was a more or a less a bad component, i think the video card was just shot and it was causing it to over heat. I don't know the technical details on that since im not really an expert when it comes to laptops, i work on desktops and they are very different. Not really sure how to test components in a computer though, besides ram. It would be nice if you can test actual components on a motherboard and stuff but i think you need a oem meter or something. I think my last motherboard i got my desktop actually came with something like that, you plug in all these separate connectors to see if the motherboard is getting full power.
I am not even sure how to cool the CPU on the laptop. On a desktop you just apply some ceramic paste and make sure it seeted probably, but im not what to do with a laptop. Kind of a green horn when it comes to laptops still. Guess i should start learning bout self repair incase my warrenty expires again and i have to work on my laptop my self. Hell my desktop computers have been through hell, i'll tell youl if i didn't know anything about computers like i do now, i would of wasted soooo much money. But desktops are much easier to fix then laptops are. Laptops everything is like one solid unit, its mostly all integrated and sautered into the motherboard which makes testing components difficult. Desktop you pretty much just snap in every component. One thing i do know is that it was dropped on its corner edge from a high space, when i lowned it to my friend. When i got it back, after that, everything slowly just stopped working, first it was the wireless adapater, i tried taking it apart and checking to see if it was plugged into the mobo, but it was, it was just really touchy and then finally went out all together, next came the sound card, suddently the laptop had no sound. After that the front panel buttons displayed started switching power some how and i think that happened after my first attempt at opening the computer, i may of got the power wires crossed up, though i do not remember specifically doing that, the dvd touch display button turns on the comoputer and you can't turn it off at all, the only way was to use the natural "shut down" operation. Well after that, one of the USB's went bad, then finally it started over heating to extreme levels and i used a coolpad to try and keep it cool for the time being. Some times it would freeze instantly and i would have to pull the battery in order to shut it down. I had to do this repeatedly for several months, i should of known that a this point time, it needed to be fixed, but imo it just was no worth it, so many better laptops out their that then this old piece of junk. That was obviously due to over heating. Then finally i smelt what smelt like burning rubber, and on the left hand side of the LCD that connects the top lid to the laptop, it burn it a whole through the vent and melted some kind of Rubber plug and the screw came loose and now my lid is coming apart. Surprisingly after all that, the laptop still displays my windows and i can still use it still but i choose not to, because i don't want it to arc or something or catch on fire again. It probably could be fixed, but would cost alot of money. But this laptop i got in 2004, its really ran its course and its time. Lased me a long time though. Maybe i would of lasted longer had it not been dropped, who knows. |

Those temps were read after bout a half hr of it being on, so it wasn't even considered at its peak level.
I have had my GPU go up to like 120 before. and my core's go up to around 100 Though now the room i have an AC, before i never did, probably why alot of my computers got extremely hot during summer, like now. But since ive had my AC, i have been able to maintain a nice cool room temp. My desk top has temps of like 50 on average for both cores and some times i can get it down to 45 if im real lucky. It all depends on how much Ceramic paste i used on the CPU. |

alright, ill take you up on that, thanks for the help. When i get my laptop ill download those software and check some things out. I usually use "speedfan" and CPU-z my self, and for temp reading, usually everest.
