Nope. In fact, those Rurouni Kenshin OVAs take place before the part of the timeline where the anime series starts.

Oh, and watch Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen. The main Rurouni Kenshin anime series is pretty decent overall, though it eventually starts to drag a bit, but I recall this OVA just being amazing... I'll probably rewatch it. It's been ages, but I recall it being very well animated, serious, and not boring. Thinking back, I've barely seen or heard of anime that's actually serious... I'd maybe classify Death Note in that category if it wasn't for Ryuk being comic relief at times, Berserk probably fits in with its exclusion of one of the manga's main characters, "Puck". Anyhow, this Kenshin OVA just nicely tells a story with no "anime expressions", no joke characters, and it's a samurai setting, not some slug-paced sci-fi thing. It's in the top 10 anime list on this site, and for good reason.
