Thank you for the kind words. I suppose that I can credit/blame the tone of my posts on a lot of life experiences, an academic background that included some cultural studies, and a relatively recent immersion in anime and manga so that I am still a fanboy at heart. I try hard to detach my ego when writing a serious comment although I recognize that despite our best efforts inevitably we reveal something about ourselves when we describe what we encounter in the external world. (will end reply here as I can feel temptation growing to introduce phenomenology, Indra's net, and theories of sacred art and meaning making)

Hah, well that was much more than I expected. Yeah, the only real issue I had with the movie was the first third of it or so. The transition between scenes was jarring at times, and was hard to follow it while it was randomly jumping scenes. But it really picked up at some point, and even exceeded the quality of the A's series from then on. Which is why I think I'm inclined to like it more than the series, even if just a little. They're both great in their own right. Most of my favorite scenes were kept, some were removed...Yet there was a few new cool scenes as well. Nanoha and Fate's joint attack was one of those.
Well now that I know your opinion on the movie as a whole, what about the tear-jerker/emotional scenes? I personally felt there was a couple of really poignant ones. Are there any scenes that made you tear up, or at least leave a strong impression on you? I did think this was the movies strong point. The emotional scenes they kept were improved upon, and some of the new ones were good as well. Personally I thought FateXAlicia goodbye dream scene and Reinforces departure were both done beautifully. |

That's an interesting perspective. But really, isn't it also possible that girls like to be more presentable just to attract guys. After all, aren't all shoujo manga/anime focused on romance? While in shounen, there does not necessary have to have romance. We, like any other animal, strive to reproduce. Intelligence or not.
By your theory, lets say, for example, a guy was only given cute and frilly dolls, does that mean he will act or think more like a girl? If a guy, raised in a family where none of these stereotypes would be imposed on him can grow up with a personality more like a typical guy or a girl? I already know the scientific answer to this, but I would like to know how you think. Although, I must say, if I was a feminist, you would have probably offended me already. I'm apparently not one though. In fact, my dad is pretty sexist anyways. For fish, for certain specifics, male fishes will have more elaborate fins or colors while female fish look quite dull. Girls care about looks too. Importantly.. even. But guys don't care looking presentable. |

Let me add in my own personal opinion on girls looking presentable. Being a girl is really harsh. I'm pretty much a tomboy and I have experienced the sad reality of society. Girls usually hang out in groups or they always have extremely close friends. Depending on your group of friends, they might really bully you and isolate you from their group if they don't accept you. You might think this is really shoujo manga like, but it happens more often than you think. My old group of friends did criticize my choice of clothing and told me to buy new ones. But of course, I didn't want to be left out of my group of friends so I tried extremely hard to adapt. Even if it made me unhappy. I'm envious of guys who don't need to deal with this. I know it depends on the type of people you hang out with, but a lot of girls are really like that. What is your opinion on why girls want to look presentable. I'm curious to know.
Hm.. I kind of assume that of Aoi Hana. Is it good? For some reason, when I look up things from about it, I get a vibe that they pacing is pretty slow.. That's true. I noticed that you aren't really watching any animes with any high romance influence. I'm not sure if you need to start a new account, since you watched a whole variety of genres on your list already. Or you want to discuss a particular anime on threads? After you dump the english patch in the folder, there's an another application which you are suppose to click and run (not the font but you're suppose to install that too) to create a path for the game or else it won't run correctly. Your location also has to be set to Japan. I suffered for hours trying to get this game to run.. Well, if you ever want to play, just do that. |
