Heya Yaisha! Long time no see! Sorry about the long delay since you wrote, I've been lagging on keeping up on MAL lately, but am still keeping up with the latest series as much as possible. I'll probably do an update here soon. I'll try to reply right away next time, I've just had a lot of distractions this last month or so offline. Feel free to PM me and I'll send you my contact info if you like, since I'm easier to get in touch with off MAL these days.
Following any new shows this season or lately? :D |

Kyoto Animation (who did Clannad, Air, Lucky Star, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and the second two Full Metal Panic shows) did a recent new anime adaptation of Kanon that was mostly superior--there were a few minor points I liked better in the Toei version, but the handling of the characters was much better in Kyoto's version and Yuuichi is voiced by the same actor as Kyon in Haruhi, giving the role much more sarcasm (which is how the character is in the original visual novel) and wit. It might be worthwhile to check out, although plot-wise there's not a huge difference from the older one.
Ah, I didn't know that about St. October's origins, though the presentation sure feels very true to the old Sailor Moon kind of format. Very nostalgic! :) Yeah, I had a bad feeling about Shugo, though I was hoping a good director might still salvage it. I REALLY liked some of the concepts behind the original first Pretty Cure's set-up but the execution was awful from episode 1. Yeah, I really hope Ikuhara comes back to directing shows again, he is very missed. I just watched up through 8 of Shana (will update my list later, need to run), and agree, though I still feel like it's missing the energy of the original series. Still, I like Margery and Marco a lot, so episode 9 will be interesting. ^_^; |

Yeah I got a lot of my LD stuff secondhand for cheap from other otaku wanting to thin out their collections, still have a number that are unopened. In many cases, the LDs are much better video quality than the later cheapie DVD releases (I'm glad I bought all the Japanese Yuna LDs, for example, ADV's transfer is AWFUL). No region coding, either! ^_^;
Yeah, I was kind of like a odd-jobs person with Sierra back then. It was a fun job. Any Sailor Moon references in the two games are wholly my own fault... ;) I'm also in (cartoon form) a couple of Larry scenes with the rest of the staff, lol, including the nude pool @_@. Didja see the Adult Swim toys I worked on? |

I need to dig out my UY movie LDs again and give them another watch... such good stuff.

Yeah Gotoh only directed the OVA sequel, Gatekeepers 21. The original series is directed by Junichi Satou (Sailor Moon series 1, Princess Tutu, Kaleidostar, Magic Users' Club, etc.)

Gotoh's still on board, yes. Have you seen Gatekeepers 21? That was his directoral debut. :) Ever notice that a lot of stuff he's worked on has the initials "GK" or "KG" (which also sounds like "Keiji")? Yeah, all my favorite lists are done now, though some are fairly subject to change...I have a lot of favorites and it's hard to pick and choose (and there's one I'd need to create a listing for and just haven't bothered yet). I felt bad that I had to bump out all the male voice actors I listed, but none of them could top the five female ones I listed, and I'm still thinking I might swap one out with Kawasumi Ayako, possibly. It's funny about the characters, since a number of them surprised me since I like so many other characters from their series, but realised they could top a certain one, such as Usagi, which really is to me Mitsuishi Kotono's defining role. I really like Rika's story in Higurashi, I feel the story of the series is perhaps the best I've seen animated yet, although I wish Studio DEEN lived up to it with their animation more. Mika Kanai floored me as Satoko in her more dramatic moments though...I'm so used to seeing her play silly characters, the dramatic performance was amazing...

Yeah, the pilot looks promising though! I have a good feeling that whatever they have planned will work out. It is interesting that we see them in place of the old pair with the rest of the known cast from the old series. Also there's that scene with the explosion--perhaps they are some strange mix-up of the two personas?

me too, a could sit through the series, but Ifurita to me will always be the one from the OAV's. Made me angry when she wasnt in EL-Hazard 2 much, being that she was the reason for the plot of 2.

Yeah, what can I say, anime is my life, more or less. :) You've got some great taste in characters there...I really need to put my favorite characters list up at some point, but Lumiere is one of my all-time ones, and I love Higurashi's cast. I'll send along a friend invite shortly!
