Thanks Juli and Merry Christmas to you, little butterfly, and all your loved ones. It's a very nice pic and Lu-chan is looking mighty cute for the holiday season. Plus the interesting placement of the Fairy Tail emblem on her left boob brings good tidings of great joy :)

Thank you. ^_^
I also wish you a Merry Christmas. ;)

Merry Christmas and thank you Julez. =)
So much text on your wall. =P
Yeah, I've been meaning to change my profile pic in a long time and after seeing Chihayafuru, I've been searching for a pic that meets the requirements for uploading a profile pic on MAL.
I so want to see Chihayafuru S2, I think we got to wait for like 19 days or something.
I going to marathon Cowboy Bebop before the end of the year but I'm trying to decide which is the best version to watch. I know there's a remastered version, don't really know the difference between the original and remastered, probably something like better picture quality but I haven't a clue who released it. >_>
Volturnus | 12-24-12, 1:30 PM
haha, I really liked the pic. It's nice.
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you too!
Yae-Yae | 12-24-12, 12:17 PM
In the spirit of Christmas joy I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you too.
To be honest I dont really miss FTV much, but every now and then I go there to look at some posts to see how people reacted to stuff. Its really interesting to see how the activity of the forum went down by maybe even more than 50% just with me gone ^^

Merry Christmas Julez :3!

Lol, if not for Ranma, I probably would worship her, yeah. And it’s not that I dislike Adachi’s preferred subject or his niche as a writer, it’s just that when you really begin to compare him to anyone else, his lack of variety really sticks out like a sore thumb.
Just take a look at every single one of Adachi’s main/lead characters (boy & girl alike) and let’s see you tell me who’s who after I show you one pic of each of them (w/o their unis ofc). ;p
For the record, I never mentioned anything about her evolving. XD And the thing about Rinne's mixed reception is the fact that she’s already done it, not to mention it’s also been done by so many others (mangaka), plenty of times before.
While UY and Ranma were titles which pioneered their respectively genres—meaning they were considerably the first of their kinds, not to mention “originality” (at that time when the manga industry was still smaller and limited) was never an issue—Inuyasha and Rinne however, aren’t exactly what you can call as new and therefore are put under a lot of scrutiny and constant comparisons; or even pitted against their predecessors or other titles of the same theme/genre.
In short, Takahashi set the bar so high w/ Maison Ikokku only to revert back to doing things ala Ranma simply is unacceptable and not up to "god(dess/father)" standards.
Btw, I could name you about 10 or more artists (on the spot) whose art style is easily recognizable since they practically have their own stamp/signature on it. ;p
Clearly you know nothing of Ataru’s ingenuity. XD Ranma tricking Ryoga every single time is nothing more than a 10 yr old taking candy from a 5 yr old—Ryoga’s brain capacity is really that much of a baby.
Actually, I do find it too wordy for my taste. And I neither have the time nor the patience for such titles. I'd much rather read older and more mature titles, tbh.
Well, considering the most recent Kintama arc, I suppose any name that has a "kin" on it sounds vaguely familiar, doesn't it? XD
Haven't you seen Slumdog Millionaire? Or don't tell me you have, only you could barely remember anything about it either. ;p
I’d watch this series if it actually dealt with or explored the fact that everything that happened in the (first) game may have been nothing more than an illusion. Trapped in a fantasy world where death is a real possibility—it’s only natural that they’d be scared out of their wits and would try to find comfort in friendships/companionships and cling on to the slightest bit of normalcy that’s available to them. Under the constant pressure/stress they were subjected to, it's not too surprising that they'd think/believe the love they felt for each other to be genuine. ;p
But yeah, that's one bogus arrangement all right. As in—seriously? To even acknowledge such a joke as online/virtual marriage?! What’s in it for the villain that he’d so willingly marry a comatose girl anyway? And it's not like she has no choice on the matter anyway-- all she has to do is to open her eyes and accept reality that her father is a douche. Well, I guess it’s still much better than if she gets married to Kirito and they go on to live happily ever after in their own imaginary world which they had created. ;p
Miria and Isaac are actually one entity in two separate bodies. They are one (heart/mind/soul) and the same as the author himself had suggested. Heck, not even one moment had gone by in the series (novel) where they weren’t together. So it’s not that I could care less about them, it’s just that I really don’t view them as a couple. Isaac wouldn’t be Isaac otherwise w/o Miria by his side and vice versa. And no, that's not me being cheesy-- that's just me being literal. ;p As for the other couple you mentioned... no comment. :|
Sure it does-- you're not taking this memory stuff seriously enough, obviously. I guess if it doesn't really bother you then there's no reason for me to be bothered by it.
Wth, it's even lower than ave now!?
Alibaba-kun is voiced by Kaji?! :o Speaking of Magi, it makes me wonder just how many episodes it’ll have. The manga just keeps on getting better and better so I really hope you can eventually see what I already have even if it takes a while longer. Also, I heard you were shipping Alibaba-kun and Mor-san (by happenstance)? Just you wait till you meet Hakuryuu... ;p Still, Aladdin and his penchant for em big busted hotties/ladies ftw.
What were you expecting from this kind of genre, anyway? As if things ever go smoothly in survival stories such as this. Don’t worry too much, though as this title still falls under shounen demographic. That said, you’ve only finished vol 1 and you’re already shaking in your boots as to what might/will happen? Wait till you read at least 2 more volumes then you could really be frightened. ;p
MERRY X-MAS! I know it's early, but I'm not sure if I'd be around during the actual day to greet you so... have you been naughty or have you been not nice? XD If so, you're not getting any from this Santa...
Volturnus | 12-12-12, 2:28 PM
I did not know anything about goodreads before I read your comment. It's a nice website and I think I might find it very useful! Thanks. Anyway, I've been planning to read a high-fantasy book called The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss for quite some time. Have you read that? If yes, how is it?
I see. I finally got around to buying FoC (yay!) but I haven't started it yet. Perhaps, I'll complete a Jack Reacher before I start FoC but I must confess that a lesser character's perspective is really not attractive for me either.
JCDRANZER | 12-07-12, 7:34 PM
I think the translation might have been a little off in that particular episode but I'm pretty sure your right that Porky lost to Ayase...it sorta makes sense because that wasn't really a condition for him when losing, Ayase chose to let Nishida decide on himself and he saw how much fun he was having and understood that he was using Tennis to replace Kurata.
Anyways, I'm on episode 17 now....loving it! =)
JCDRANZER | 12-07-12, 4:22 PM
Watching episode 09 now, Nishida being a B class must surely mean he lost to Chihaya in episode 08.......damn I'm confused!
JCDRANZER | 12-07-12, 4:16 PM
In episode 08 of Chihayafuru, the match between Porky Vs Chihaya? Who actually won the match?
I was sorta confused but it seemed that Porky won and then he said I'm getting my revenge...my revenge on what??
a1oner | 12-07-12, 4:32 AM
I had intended to include this in my post yesterday, but apparently I can be a bit sloppy/forgetful myself so. ;p
I haven't read it myself, but knowing your disposition or new found interest in karuta (since Chihayafuru), I thought you might like it. ;D
PS. I didn't go to the trouble of finding it for you, rather I just happen to find it and immediately I thought of you. What I'm saying is you don't need to thank me nor return the favor-- it's the least that I can do. Enjoy. And don't forget to let me know if it's worth the read. (I love historical settings, I'm just skeptical on the romance part, lol) XD

You’ve done me worse before so it doesn’t really make much difference now. Plus it’s not exactly your fault that the going got rough last week; no need to be sorry. I’m sure you’d rather just forget all about it, but if you want to—I’m all ears. In any case, hopefully, replying to me didn’t make it any rougher. ;p Lemme see what I can do to help you make this week seem like a breeze to pass you by with ease.
With the way the series had featured it, not really. Semantics aside—it’s just as competitive as some of the more physical sports I could think of.
I see. Well, let’s leave it at that for now. We’ve been discussing/speculating about this back and forth for a while now; it’s time to give it a rest. It’s only a matter of time anyway, since the anime is slated to ‘resume/continue’ in January which you most likely know already.
For someone who hasn’t even completed Touch, that almost sounded convincing. But it’s only when you’ve read a ton/variety of titles (like me) do you realize that there’s a lot more diverse, creative, unique, and much better artists and/or story-tellers (mangaka in general) than those who were regarded to be the very best of their certain era/time.
The fact that Adachi has managed to remain active to this day does speak a lot for itself, but I never felt that he evolved both as an artist and as a writer. For starters, his characters (design and personality wise) are always recycled. He also uses the same recipe every single time—the humor, plot-twist, and overall story development, whether it’s baseball, boxing, or non-sport related theme. He’s nothing but a one-trick-pony, really, so I’d appreciate it if you don’t go putting Rumiko Takahashi in the same category—she’s much superior in every aspect I’ve mentioned (even in spite of Ranma).
I did realize that, but the fact of the matter is—you probably had the biggest share of chocolates out of you 3. XD
I never did say I would watch the entire episode she was in, plus I’m not even reading the manga—that much should answer your question. But if you think I’m missing out, feel free to convince me. ;p
Graphic!? The term hardly scratches the surface of what Ryo Saeba’s mokkori is all about. I’d love to see your reaction when you see what I’m talking about. XD
It’s really hard for me to come up with anything good to talk about on Ranma. Just thinking of something kills off my creative streak entirely. To reiterate, I liked said characters because I thought they were pretty funny (though not as hilarious as Ataru and the gang from UY), and that is it really. Ranma and Akane were just no fun at all.
Anyway, I’m pretty sure there was a pig-loving girl in the anime as well. I believe she even put a collar on Ryoga at the beginning of that arc. Btw, I hate how it’s always Ranma’s fault this, it’s Ranma’s fault that with that guy. I know it’s kind of a running gag, but seriously—grow up, man! Learn to read a map and don’t follow Ranma like a damn shadow. Problem solved. Good thing he never did end up with Ukyo—she deserves so much better, sorry. But let me tell you this—I think Ranma (girl) and Ryouga could have worked out nicely, if only he was made to have certain inclinations based on his current gender.
At any rate—Happosai x Cologne, best Ranma couple ever! Nuff said. XD
It’s ep 130 entitled "Cat-lovers and dog-lovers never keep peace"
Does the name Kintaro ring a bell perhaps? It’s a short 2 ep arc where the first invoked plenty of laughs while the 2nd obviously turned into a more serious, tear-jerking finale.
If you put it that way—then I guess that’s that. At least Madao doesn’t blame Ranma anyone for what he has become nor his creator (Sorachi) for his constant struggles in life that has been a downward spiral of doom and despair. Best Madao arc—Madaodog Madaonaire—ever! XD
I never really think of Patsu-san so I’m not particularly reminded of anything except for his voice actor—Sakaguchi, Daisuke, who’s an expert on this type of loser/whiner roles. Btw, from what I’ve gathered, dondake would be equivalent to something like WTF in English, just in case you didn't know.
I could certainly imagine their household, esp his father, as the authoritarian kind where every misstep has a corresponding punishment. It’s likely that all of his repressed emotions—once he was finally able to let them out—is what resulted to his becoming untamed. In short, his upbringing to become a perfect “successor” (or from what I’ve gathered) pretty much backfired. Needless to say his brother probably is the family’s black sheep and most likely the one who further influenced him into becoming this way.
Is that so? So is it safe to say that I’m a boy, and therefore I don’t find romantic stories to be that engrossing? Even so, I don’t like Kirito—before or after Asuna came into the picture. And I just don’t appreciate things (esp on the topic of romance) that comes way too easily—as in conveniently. And I don’t mean someone has to be a tsundere for a romance to become not as convenient. Anyway, I just don’t like his motive for playing now. At first they were supposed to be playing for survival, but that didn’t even last long as they began to have fun with the company of others, build friendships, and ultimately fight for a single dream—to be together, forever… yuck!
Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the genre (romance) in general. It's just that those cheesy brands in particular where "love (pretty much) conquers all" not to mention any story that revolves in it as though how the Earth is to the sun-- infuriates me.
Tbh, I’d rather Baccano! gets more anime than Drrr!
Also, Firo x Ennis, Claire x Chane, and Celty x Shinra-- I rest my case.
So have you tried it yet? Should I test your memory perhaps? ;p
Lol, and after I said I'd go bre(eze/e)asy on you. I'm such a disagreeable person, aren't I? Hell why is our manga compatibility so average?! :o Nice pickup on SnK, btw. And did you know-- your fave Yuki Kaji will be voicing Eren in the upcoming adaptation!
Volturnus | 11-29-12, 2:08 PM
I asked the local bookshop to get the book for me but I haven’t the time to collect it!
In my opinion, the first part Steel and Snow was slower but it formed a nice base for the second part and then, in the second part everything seemed consequent and well-paced.
Indeed, I've read the same about the fourth book myself (from wikipedia, I believe) but I cannot comment yet on the writing style. A different approach by the writer himself is definitely something that is interesting for me. In the book itself, I always found the writer's style of partially using different characters' perspective nifty.
a1oner | 11-24-12, 6:32 AM
I’ve read almost everything (all major works of his) hence I’m talking about his writing style/tendencies and since Chihayafuru falls in somewhat the same category as his typical works, anyway—that being sports-centered romance.
Btw, Cross Game didn’t really feature much of any rivalry besides Kou and Aoba themselves so no, I’m not referring to that particular work of his. What I had in mind were rather much older—Touch, Rough, and H2. Guess which one is my favorite of all the titles I’ve mentioned here (w/o looking at my scores). ;p Hint: it’s not a b game. And to answer your other question—yes, it's worth it. And if you think you've already figured it all out-- you're surely mistaken. ;p
All I’m saying is there’s a reason why they’ve always been together. It’s a huge deal in and of itself (if not in Japanese culture then at least in writing). Have you ever come across any Jap long-distance romance where the couple remained faithful to one another all throughout? Only one manga comes to mind of a mere handful—not that I’ve even encountered any that deals with long-distance relationships as its main course.
Do you know why I’m never fond of typical slice-of-life, high school romance in general? It’s because of this very aspect—it’s way too convenient. In other words, it has nothing to do with Chihaya’s feelings or whomsoever she favors romantically (if she even knows what that word means). And I don’t think the author went through the trouble of building up Taichi and Chihaya’s relation/friendship only to conveniently write-off Taichi as a mere runner-up as soon as Arata emerges anew.
Out of curiosity, though-- why Taichi? I mean, what is it about him that Arata doesn't have? If it's chemistry, then all the more reason why you should understand what I have been saying. At any rate, I think Sudo x Chihaya would be a good fit. ;p
So you're basically saying that your dad is a man of the past? Anyway, so what happened exactly to the chocolates he bought? Wait-- let me guess...
YOU ATE THEM ALL, DIDN'T YOU!? XD
No, they simply shout “trick or treat” and “happy Halloween” in succession, and expect to get money out of it.
I guess I shouldn't have encouraged you, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten this halloween pic w/ the chara designs for this god awful season! XD j/k
Well, thanks for that valuable info. I'm sure her appearance won't necessarily save this god forsaken season, but I still need to see it nonetheless.
I'm sure you didn't watch those vids, but trust me, even if you did (watch the anime)-- you still haven't seen anything yet! ;p
Ukyo, the kansai-ben speaking, okonomiyaki-selling, legitimate fiancé of Ranma? If she’s who I just described, then she’s one of the very few characters in the series (along w/ Tofu-sensei, Nabiki, and the Kuno family w/ Sasuke) I liked.
Yup, that’s a good one. Katsuo was simply awesome! I’d still put the amnesia, justaways conveyor belt arc on top though. I also love the dog and his owner racing to their deaths arc (I feel like crying just revisiting the concluding episode in my head). Well, there’s a whole lot to recall for sure, but only a few comes to mind at the moment.
I can see why you don’t like Madao, but there are also a handful of good arcs to which he has been involved with. I'd say just think of him as if he’s the future Shinpachi. He’s usually the “straight-man”, he’s highlighted by his glasses, and overall quite a plain, boring, loser character—just like Patsu-san.
Also, I mostly appreciate the few arcs where Mutsu happens to be in. She’s my fav girl in the series, in case you didn’t know. She's the only one who's not smitten by Gintoki's charms, that's why.
I didn’t say that—I said it’s irrational for them to admit it to one another. Perhaps Haru didn’t really mean his (“I like you”) as a proposal to go out/steady, sure. But to Shizuku, it’s more than quite obvious—she may have slipped, but she clearly expected something out of her slightly unintentional confession.
Granted they’re both loners albeit of different circumstances (one deliberately chose to be while the other a mere victim of scrutiny), I just can’t see them as socially incapable of anything. And Haru is just that weird, really. I believe he was brought up in a sheltered environment with hardly any freedom at all, so he ran away from home only to discover he doesn’t know how the world works—how to conduct himself to the norm/standards of others, hence he doesn’t get along well with anyone as much he would have wanted.
I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to finish SAO but for now, I sure am disappointed with how this came to be a romance-first, mmorpg-second kind of story.
Well yeah, if Brains Base could only see it our way. Just imagine what Celty and Shinra's avatar would look like, esp Celty's head. And knowing Izaya, he'd probably disguise himself as a woman or better yet, as Shizuo's younger brother and then backstab him along the way. XD
Don't say that, you're not even remotely old! I would only deem a woman as such once she's at her menopausal stages and I believe that's usually not until you reach your 40s. XD But seriously, if you think this site could really be of help, then why not try it? I don't know the extent of your becoming forgetful, but I'm worried that one day, I'd browse through my MAL account like usual and find a comment from you asking "who are you?"-- so I'd say do whatever you must to ensure something like that never happens.
Volturnus | 11-21-12, 1:07 PM
I completed the third book a few days ago myself! And I agree with you on it being the best of the three in terms of plot twists, developments and pace (thanks to which, I completed it much before I thought I would).
I've read many praises for the fifth book so maybe, saving it up for later when you have less time might be a good idea! It makes everything more exciting, relatively! In my opinion, if you're fast and have the books with you, completing it before January should not be a big problem.
Oh yes, I've seen the 1st series. I think it's a great adaptation. The actors are really good and the production was high quality as well. Ned Stark, especially, was pretty awesome. Of course, while there were things I didn't like, some additions were really quite interesting. Nevertheless, a great adaptation since it offers the viewer a different and a more 'complete' perspective.
Volturnus | 11-15-12, 11:27 AM
Ah, yes, I'm very fond of the characters. I've been reading the series for quite some time (because a user recommended the tv series to me, so I thought I should check out the book) and now I've almost completed the second part of the third book. I read quite slowly, so maybe, I should get around to reading the fifth book in say, 4-5 months. How about you? Have you read the fifth installment yet?
