Julianna-chan! How've you been?
I hope you're having a great year so far and that you've found some wonderful shows to watch! ^_^
Since the change of seasons I've been absent from anime in general as I've had a hard time to find anything enjoyable to watch and I've been busy with other things. =/
But now I've started to follow some great shows of this new season! ^_^

Im watching it with german dubs and most of the voices are pretty good except for a few I cant remember anymore. But well even with the enlglish voices there could be a miss.
I have two reasons against spoilertags. First is that this is a conversation between us two so if someone else reads it and gets spoilered its entirely his fault and second I dont know how to make them on this site.
Im pretty sure everyone will have a tragic ending. To be honest I wouldnt be surprised if not one person in the world survives this series just like in another book Ive read some time ago.
I dont even have pity left for Cersei, Im counting the pages to her imminent downfall.
I never liked Stannis and I doubt he would be a good king even if Melisandre didnt exist. I really like her, the way she is manipulating people with words alone is just great. She does right what Cersei does wrong.
I dont miss Neds chapters because the stupidity that was oozing out of them made me sick. I cant even understand the slightest how someone can say he was honorable because he was exactly the opposite. I cant see whats so honorable in sacrificing his own family and throwing the world into war with thousands of deaths for his own ego. You can act like that if you have the power to back it up but he had nowhere near that. He shouldve retreated like a man who knows that he cant win, no shouldnt even try to fight. With that his family wouldve been able to lead a happy life. His son Robb was the same, putting his ego before everything else and his family and followers paid for it. Sadly Arya, Sansa and the so-called Bastard Jon Snow arent more intelligent. Rickon and Bran are too young to judge but I wonder how the family could end up with full of idiots with Catelyn as the mother because she was highly intelligent.
What I really dislike about the series is that a lot of characters are killed with a sentence like Davos or a lot of others. And the second is that its becoming more and more magical (Melisandre, Beric Dondarrion, Catelyn).

Don't worry about the frequency of exchanged comments. Decreased frequency is better; otherwise, we'll both get bored rather quickly. You’re the only reason why I come to MAL.
Oh, I didn't know you were in school! What are you studying? I started school last year too and next month I have many exams so I might not be able to reply as well. haha, time management is something that comes at an early age but, I hope you manage everything properly! I wish you good luck in your school life and your job!
Belated happy new year to you too! I fell asleep at 2300 on the 31st because I didn't have anything to do. I don't make resolutions but yeah, maybe better organization and focus. Well, I wish for it throughout the year so, it's not a new year's resolution but a general resolution. And thank you for accepting my friend request on goodreads. It’s indeed an interesting website, so thank you for introducing me to it.
IMAX? Oh God no! How can you like IMAX? It has never failed to give me massive headaches and I feel so dizzy afterwards! Gandalf is my favourite character as well, and yes, one does not need any explanation: he's the best.
Why did you purchase the hard cover? I always get the paperbacks and I like the UK prints better: they have more attractive, embossed covers and better margins and better title fonts and...!
Yeah, they made a Jack Reacher movie but I myself don't know which book it's based on. I don't plan to watch it.
Great Gatsby is a timeless novel but the characters are superficial, so if you’re looking for characters, avoid it all costs since the book does not go deep into character development.
A Tale of Two Cities is a nice book, I read the easier simplified version of it when I was small. I liked it quite a bit. It certainly deserves to be called a classic.
Are you a... psychologist?

One book has about 500 pages story and about a 100 pages characterlists (which are never up to date).
Second season comes out on Apirl for BD here in germany and then Im going to get it. Im looking forward to the great dialogues between Cersei and Tyrion.
I was surprised that the series was quite good, sure nowhere near the books but good. Well a few things totally made no sense in the series because they left out stuff and a lot of characters are not as I imagined them but that was to be expected (and the reason I never watched any of the Harry Potter movies).
The characters they portrayed well were Joffrey, Ned, Jaime (I didnt even remember him beeing such an asshole in the beginning), Viserys and mostly Varys. Him they got excellently.
Tyrion was good characterwise but not lookwise. He was only small nothing more, I pictured him more hideous. The same with the Hound. He was nowhere scary and you couldnt even see any scars. And the way he was always looking. Like a mentally disabled cripple and not as the scary beast he is in the books.
Cersei looks far too innocent in my books and not beautiful enough (not to mention that we didnt get to see her naked when she slept with Jaime -.-). The same with Catelyn. Sure she was never described as beautiful in the books but for me she was the most beautiful. But both are too old too. I mean the actors are already over 40 which is about 10 years to old to make any sense.
My favorite character is Tyrion now, thanks to Catelyn beeing dead who was my favorite character until then. Thats why I hate it that he made a Revenge-Zombie out of her. She deserved better.
At the beginning I never liked Jaime because he was such an asshole, but after he lost his hand he changed for the better.
I really liked Cersei too but now Im getting more and more annoyed with her and her stupid ideas.
Big mainnegative point of the books is that there is a lot of story for characters I just dont care about like Sansa, Arya, the Greyjoys, Stannis and what not while my favorite characters are more or less gone.

Heh, you think that will faze me? And nothing irritates me more than having to be reminded every time, so please, you need not explain yourself any more than (once nor) you should. :| That said, I must also warn you that I’d continue on responding sooner rather than later, and shorter rather than longer to try and even things out a bit. ;p
Hmm… can’t think of anything cute (activity/action-wise) to add in return, esp in relation to dogs. I have quite a number of somewhat (nearly) traumatizing experiences involving those beasts that I’ve grown very wary of their presence. Not that I freak out from the mere sight of them, but I’d much rather not be around any if I can help it.
Well, perhaps Maison Ikokku didn’t have as much Japanese following as it did overseas, or as much as compared to her previous (shounen) works so rather than duplicating it, she strayed away from “seinen” altogether.
Just imagine Natsuyuki Rendevouz being more comedic than dramatic, and minus the fairy tale-esque twist—RT would have definitely made it work/click.
You know what, even minus the more recent/modern artists (as I never really had encountered many of them, esp since I'm not into shounen/mainstream)-- I still can. Want me to recommend you some classics? ;p
fufufu, just as planned. The incredible JULK is upon us! XD But fair enough. Also, if he fell for anyone other than Akane, I doubt the Ran-Ryo rivalry would have lived for too long on (his) “bitterness” alone. And really, what's wrong with all the girls in this series-- ramma-honey this, ranma-darling that!? He's just so full of it. :|
Hayate no gotoku.
I never knew them fangirls had high expectations of me and my tastes/opinions, lol.
“Alternative” titles, you mean. At any rate, I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the titles we don't have in common, but I do get it now... somehow.
Lol, not really. Considering all the time he has spent imprisoned with Hugo in the “room of fortitude”, I’m sure he instinctively yearns for a mother and what better way to envision/symbolize a mother—but with a bountiful rack, of course! XD
Btw, the other guy I mentioned-- he's one of the more prominent characters featured in the new op and ed-- the one with the scar on his face. And just like Alibaba, he's got baggage-- in other words, he's emo as well, only darker/more desperate. XD
I don't know what your issue is with emo characters, but let me warn you now-- Eren is not completely without "emo" genes in him. You'd find out soon enough. ;p
Like I said, you haven’t seen anything yet. It was hardly smiling imo, but whatever you say. Wanna know what my initial reaction to it? "Alright! About darn time for (more) casualties!" You know the funny thing about this genre? It's "survival" yet I don't really expect that many (characters) to survive. XD
I actually started the new year on quite a sour note. You don't want to know the details-- it's pretty disgusting. XD Let's just say the day before new year's eve, I was food poisoned and all throughout the first week of the new year I felt the effects of it. I wasn't even able to determine which of the 3 suspect meals I had that day made me suffer so much, as I barfed them all out the morning after. That said, my one and only resolution for 2013-- I'm never pigging out again on recycled/reheated/recooked leftovers! >:|
Apart from that, I'm good; trying my darndest to change/improve myself for the better. ;)
a1oner | 01-07-13, 5:42 AM
who u again? ;p
It figures. ;p Well, for starters, you don’t owe me nothing. So naturally, you don’t need to worry about anything. You just focus on the more important stuff—enjoy life as it goes. And if you ever want to take some time-off from all the happiness/drama/excitement life has to offer, I’d (probably) still be here to give you more of the same, albeit of a different (not-so) kind, for a change (of pace). XD
A belated Happy New Year and a Kung Hei Fat Choy in advance to you as well!

I doubt that watching the spinoff of Zettai Karen Children will really work, but who knows. I dont know what kind of story they will do so maybe you dont have to know what happened in the manga or the anime.
Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai was not bad but except for Sena the characters were all annoying especially Yozora.
Btw, Im reading A Song of Ice and Fire too. Currently I finished the seventh german book, which makes it 3 1/2 of the english ones (because the german ones are far more detailed I heard). And Ive seen the first season of the TV-Series. But currently Im on a break and read something different, but after that book I will return to A Song of Ice and Fire.

May 2013 be a year filled with many blessings and peace.
FlyTaggart | 12-29-12, 4:15 AM
Just went through the shows airing next season and cant say that Im hyped because there are only three shows who look interesting, two of them beeing a sequel.
- First is Chihayafuru the second season
- Second is the Zettai Karen Children Spinoff THE UNLIMITED – Hyoubu Kyousuke, which Im looking forward the most because Im a huge fan of the Zettai Karen Children manga and anime
- And third is Maoyuu Maou Yuusha but even there Im not that hyped because the studio who does it (ARMS) is mainly known because of the Ikkitousen- & Queens Blade franchise and Hentai-Movies. Weird choice for a novel adaption about politics, economy, diplomacy and so on.
Except for those three everything sounds uninteresting or even like the worst show ever. Still as always everything gets a chance and hopefully I will be as pleasantly suprirsed by some show as I was this season from Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!.
FlyTaggart | 12-29-12, 12:49 AM
For me Sugus emotions werent troublesome, it was what I really liked about her. The way she accepted them and moved on was a great thing. The thing that bothered me was the huge focus on it because the whole ALO arc was more about her feelings than saving Asuna. Overall were Kirito and Asuna really bland in the anime. In the novels the just were one of the greatest ocuples ever but in the show they were just two people. All the awesomeness of those two werent adapted.
Yes there is a lot of stuff missing, especially in the fillerarcs. Just alone in the story about the Inner City PK there was a scene left out in which Asuna and Kirito meet Heathcliff in a restaurant to talk about it and there it is already foreshadowed that he knows far too much for a player and thus Kiritos move at the end of the arc makes more sense. And the "showdown" with the three Laughing Coffin members was far shorter too and made absolutely no sense in the show.
That list could go on and on and on about what was left out but I guess that alone should proof it. And most of the stuff I cant even remember anymore because I banned the anime SAO arc out of my brain for beeing horrible.
Well if I would rate the show not as itself but as an adaption it would get a 2/10 and only because of +1 because Suguhas awesome.

I will join goodreads then and add you! I haven't read the Hobbit yet either. I read Lord of the Rings when I was 16 or 17 and liked it a lot but I never got around to reading the remaining books of the series (I was never really fond of the hobbits, to be honest). I will try to read the remaining books when I have time. It seems that the movie adaptation of Hobbit was released lately too but I'll probably skip that. My copy of FoC has the front and back covers/pages full of comparisons of A Song of Ice and Fire with Lord of the Rings and GRR Martin with Tolkien. I think A Song of Ice and Fire, although classified in the same genre as Lord of the Rings, adds a lot more intellectual depth (and gives rigorous treatment to all sides) than the latter but falls short when it comes to original imagination (beautiful descriptions) and fantasy (orcs and a big burning eye for a villain are simply better than zombies! By the way, have you read the series called Eragon?). Both are nice but very different.
How do you like Dance of Dragons so far?
I've read two Jack Reacher novels. While one was good, the other was quite terrible. But I continue reading it only for the manliness. The amount of manliness is completely insane! It's like Scooby-doo with scooby-doo and team replaced by a totally alpha anti-hero.
Classics, I want to read 'Brave New World' by Aldous Huxley but it's a bit difficult to manage reading these books. I think goodreads will help me remember all of it. A few months ago I read The Great Gatsby since it was rather small. I liked it quite a bit. I lose interest quickly and jump from books to movies back and forth and sometimes often completely abandon both for long periods. But psychology... you must recommend me the best book you've read (if it's fictional)!
I'm glad to hear that the character’s perspectives are well done! Unfortunately, I haven't started FoC yet. But I will definitely start it today! I have a lot of time this week and the next, so hopefully, I should be able to make good progress.

Thanks for the Christmas pic there Juli-san, and apologies on being late on giving you mine. :p
Well I hope you had a wonderful Christmas this year.
Yae-Yae | 12-27-12, 2:36 PM
Did you watch this one? It was at first only one OVA and now, they added three more. I recommend it as it is a good watch. ^^
JunHijiri | 12-27-12, 12:07 PM
Fufufu but I totally love your christmas pic with Cirno and Daiyousei as well :3
Yeah everythign is more or less good over here, I hope it's the same for you ^^

Well even when I look at the SAO series only as the anime not compare it to the novels its by far no great anime and the whole SuguhaXKirito stuff really put me off because it looked like it could happen. And there were a lot of things that totally didnt make sense. Overall most of the stories in the SAO arc just felt unnecessary in the anime. The show wouldve been better if they spent the 25 eps on SAO only without going into the ALO arc. Im really saddend that they left out a major part in the ALO arc what becomes very important later and I dont know how they want to fix that in a potential second season.
If there is one thing the show did right its Suguha and the scenes she had with Kirito. In the novels for me Suguha was only a character who was there but in the anime I really got to like her a lot whats probably because Asunas role in the anime is a lot smaller than in the novels. In the novels her existence was so great no other female character could even begin to bloom or shine and there wasnt even a 0,01% that you could think maybe Kirito goes to another woman.

That would be Darjeeling from the "girl und panzer" series which I'm not exactly watching, btw.
Also, you're definitely on the naughty list-- on the very naughty side at that! >:\ Shame, Santa Iskander would have let you on his gordius sleigh and would have taken you to NC (free of cost ofc) as a present/surprise for wedora, otherwise. tsk tsk XD
wedora | 12-25-12, 5:49 PM
And a Merry Christmas to you too babe :) See you soon!

Just finished the Fate/Zero Novels and I guess its the first time that I say that the series is actually better than the books (unlike Sword Art Online where the series was a total fail compared to the books).
The novel left a lot of things out the anime series had.
In the novel the part with Rin going to town to save her friend made completely no sense. Sure in the anime it was a waste of time too but at least something happened. The same with Kiritsugus backstory. In the novel everything is totally shallow and lot of scenes are missing that gave everything a sense.
And the death of Natalia had a whole other meaning. In the anime it looked like she knew that Kiritsugu would shoot her down but in the novels she really believed he would save her.
And most of the dialogues didnt have the same impact, espeically when the three kings were talking about what a king is or the scenes between Gilgamesh and Kirei werent nearly as epic as in the show.
Overall you could say that the anime did adapt the novels faithfully but made everything even better.
