I have just updated my Profile page. There are some slight wording changes to the introduction. I have made significant changes to my Achievements Button. I have slightly modified what is necessary for me to give a rating of 10. Please check this out, and let me know what you think of the "NEW" page.

I'm not to bad thanks. Glancing through your Anime PTW, You should watch Kimi to Boku & Elfen Lied next, if you do end up doing that & Like Kimi to Boku, the second season of it is pretty good also. |

My name is Michael. Pleased to meet you as well, Kate. I sent you a friend request, if you are interested. If not, I fully understand. One must be a little careful even in MAL. Not everyone is as advertised.

There is one other romance with some solid merit to it. Ai Yori Aoshi has some brilliant work in it, but it relies too much on the same gimmick over and over when the pair want to get a little romantic. And, it's a little too much of a harem to suit me. But, I would love to see it without all that harem crap. Out of 39 episodes, I think about 14 of them are absolutely brilliant, 8 or 9 good and the rest could be scrapped. That episode count is for both seasons.

Last statement first, I am 66 years old (going on 18) and have been watching anime for a long time. Read my profile. My list, however is only since September 2008. Everything I watched before that date I have re-watched since then.
It appears that we have a mutual interest in Slice-of-Life and maybe Josei titles, so a common list is very likely. I will tell you that everything on my PTW list is already in my possession. Not everything in my completed list is still in my collection. I refer you to my Rating System. I play the music from Bokura ga Ita often, same with Nana, Aria, Ano Hana, and Last Exile. It all is good. I also have about 200 OST's on my computer. Since I am 66, I grew up reading comic books in color....i prefer color. I would rather wait for a story to be animated. Since you already watched Peach Girl, the others do have merit. I think of the remaining titles I mentioned, Kare Kano is probably the best IMO. I think Marmalade boy had some great moments, but was too long and had way too much of the same trust issue stuff. But, it's still worth watching once. Hana Yori Dango is good, although I have to say there was way too much violent behavior directed at Tsukuchi, the main girl, in it. That bothered me some. BTW, I really liked Momo in Peach Girl. I think you are going to watch Bakemonogatari soon? That is a very high quality story. It's sequel, Nisemonogatari is also worth watching, albeit not as good. Main significance to Nise is the expanded exposure of Shinobu's character. I'll not say more. You will see who I mean when you watch Bake. |

BTW, I have the rest of your top 5 on my PTW list.

My comment was meant to be constructive, and it appears that you see it that way! :D
Nana is quite "Real Life" isn't it? I think the characters are so well done. Each one could correspond to someone I have known in my long life. Realism is not a requirement of mine for stories, but the best stories usually approach reality anyway. And that Darned good soundtrack. WOW, there is some fine work there and I'm not really into that type of music. The only other title out there with magnificent music like that is the recent Sakamichi no Apollon, which is loaded with great Jazz!!!! I anticipate the conclusion of Nana, whenever it is finished. I know it will not be animated until the story finishes in it's manga form. I am not much of a manga reader, so I won't tackle it. I've only completed 10 manga and it may be a long time until I've completed 11,,,LOL. Bokura ga Ita was also a really wonderful story with excellent music. It is the best school romance I've yet watched....better than Peach Girl, Marmalade Boy, Hana Yori Dango, Kare Kano, just to name a few. A second season of Bokura ga Ita would be welcomed by me, but it looks doubtful. |

I read your rather brief Sankarea review. While it didn't really do what a review is supposed to do, I have to agree with your assessment of it. I dropped it after 2 episodes. There is just too much quality stuff out there to waste one's time on garbage. I was bored after half-way through episode 2 and stopped right there and dropped it.
I do not wish to pick on you, but I recommend that you read a few reviews by Archeon. His approach is how a review should be written. The review section on MAL is broken. Too many members are writing reviews on 1 or 2 episodes, which, IMO, is a waste of their and my time. I'm not saying you do that, as this is the first review by you I have read. Thank you for the review! :D EDIT: Isn't Nana a great story? I was very surprised by how good it is! You have it as your #1 and it's my #4. You also have Bokura ga Ita #4, it's my #9. |
