Well, Ty Cobb was a genius and a pioneer, but also a despicable, awful human being. I think the manga really captured all of that, instead of only focusing on one of these traits.
I wouldn't necessarily mind if Bokurano was a partial rip-off; after all, I love "Battle Royale", and that's hugely influenced by "Lord of the Flies". Your write-up makes it sound very interesting, so I'll add it to my giant manga queu. Thanks. And yeah, I have both "Blue Heaven" and "Jiraishin" in my manga plan-to-read list. I can tell you're a big Takahashi fan based on those recommendations; I've only read "Dead Flowers" so far, and it was a very good one-shot. As for Baki, he's not that obsessive, especially once he reaches the age of 17 and becomes the champion of the underground fight league. In the manga, he is even portrayed as a bit lazy/overly relaxed on a few occasions, and there's a romantic subplot with his girlfriend. As for my list of favorites, it's a decent, representative sample, but "G Senjou Heaven's Door" (maybe the absolute best I've read), "Blade of the Immortal", "Seizon Life", and "20th Century Boys" is just as great, and a number of other works aren't far behind. Glad to hear you liked it.
I loved the Tesla chapter, but my favorite was the Ty Cobb story. Just an uncompromising look at a real life man more ruthless and amazing than any anime character. By the way, since you have it in your favorites, is Bokurano a bit of an "Ender's Game" rip-off, or is it significantly different from the sci fi classic? |

Heh, the manga is actually quite tame.
It's Hirohiko Araki's (the guy that wrote Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) "Henjin Henkutsu Retsuden", or "The Lives of Eccentrics". It's the best single volume collection of one-shots I've read. |

sorry, I was just feeling grumpy today and start criticizing everything....
But I didn't like the amnesia girl in Nozomu Eien as well.....It's hard to find awesome 100% original characters nowadays.... But for example, Toua from One Outs was a badass main character I liked... Tomoya is actually ok, he's tolerable and you've come to sympathize with what he is going through as well.... NGE manga-version Shinji is more tolerable than anime-version... But the anime ending still was....unsatisfying.... |

nothing much really. im still kinda busy with playing the P4 game.
so i haven't really done anything else lately. i really wanna start watching anime already BUT! im trapped. the game won't let me go. xP oh! and i've read a few chapters of the P4 manga, and it's really like the game so you'd probably know the story if you've read the manga. anyways, wow! breakfast? what time is it there? im actually eating atm. midnight snack?
