I'm glad you liked it, it is one of my favorite series. Her background does remain a bit of a mystery. I personally believe that she is very special and at the same time a very normal human being and that something that is sleeping in all humans was awakened and that she transcended her physical body and other attributes of the physical world like mechanics and technology. Like, the mind can be extremely powerful but we only use a small part of our brain. So I think she was a very normal human being and at the same time born to do what she did, destined to rise above the electrical grid. I could be wrong though, it simply what I believe.

Oh nice!
Im currently watch Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Its not to bad, in the beginning its a bit boring but after like 21 episodes it gets really exciting! I was gonna watch One Piece from where i left off but i decided to leave it until i finish Hitman Reborn. And Its got 203 episodes :) but it finished airing :( It should keep me busy for a while... Which is good because i want more episodes to come out for Fairy Tail and One Piece :D |

it sure was! was expecting something completely different but i can't complain, it worked out better then what i had in my head. i will watch Wolf Children soon (probably sunday), i'll let you know how it was.

no i watched omohide poro poro. wolf children is next. and we have almost the exact saying: "don't look a gifted horse in the mouth" and it means the same. they look(ed) at the teeth of horses to see if it was healthy (when trading). if someone gives you something you don't try to evaluate it's worth (very disrespecting). the voices... doesn't mean i let it influance the experience, it's just once you hear it you cannot un-hear it. i guess i should've been more specific lol. sounds like i'm not going to be disappointed with wolf's children either :-P

it was fantastic! i had to be really disciplined not to give it a 10 (since IMO it does have some minor flaws, like some voice recording are lower quality compared to the main characters and some where a little louder then others). it was very relatable and it is very impressive how they managed to make a movie this good simply based on things like memories and growing up. life on the other side of the planet wasn't really different from life on this side after all. this movie is very human. like i said, eventually i want to watch every Ghibli movie that is at least half decent (i don't think there are actually poor ones), but your recommendation was the push in the back i needed to priorities watching this one now. i thoroughly enjoyed it!

of course! i plan to (eventually) watch every Ghibli movie with a average score of 7.0 and up or with a very good recommendation. it's just that there is other stuff i want to watch too :-) will download omoide poroporo/only yesterday soon. grave of the fireflies was a pretty solid movie as well.

Yes, indeed. I wrote my review based on guessing the facial expressions. Also, the ending was really confused that I didn't really grasp it. Need to find a subbed version ^^

i knew you would like it! i have a superscription now to a Dutch anime magazine (have only 3 editions so far) called Aniway, it's a inexpensive yet fairly good magazine. it basically said that it IS something special and unusual, 2 Ghibli movies, but it will happen, and once happened before, and both are classics now (none is forgotten)!
they write that in 1988 Grave of the Fireflies AND My Neighbor Totoro where released. roughly translated they further write: "This summer you will be able to see both Miyazaki's Kaze Tachinu and Takahata's Kaguya Hime No Monogatari. Miyazaki's movie will be about a WW2 [fighter?] pilot while Takahata's movie will mainly center around traditional Japanese folklore" their source is Studio Ghibli so that's pretty reliable. plus the day they get news like this wrong is the day they're done pretty much. and don't worry, if i know more i tell you of course! like i said, i would not deprive you from good anime ^_^ |

well i'm nothing compared to lain iwakura. i can only dream dream to bask in the glory that is her :-) did you no that 2 miyazaki movies are going to be in movie theaters not very long from now? should not be long after that they can be found online. but of course i'll let you know should i find them online, i would never deprive you from good anime he he.
