Well, been a week now for the new Codex Dark Angels. Thoughts? Opinions?

Personally I've already had an idea to make a better looking Stormtalon using the Dark Talon kit and a pair of assault cannons from the Ravenwing upgrade frame.

Guess it doesn't mean quite as much to me, as when I started playing this game drop pods were not available to Space Marines at all.

Baman | 10-08-12, 6:49 AM
Yea but that's exactly the problem, FW is great as a supplement, but something as standard as a droppod should have been in the vanilla book from the start, it doesn't make any sense that they don't have them.
I'd definitely go for one of the fighters over the dragon though, always hoped everyone getting flyers meant CSM would get something like those.

SpellBinder | 10-08-12, 12:23 AM
Oh jeeze, CSM get the Dreadclaw Assault Pod (ref Imperial Armour Aeronautica, page 73), a drop pod that isn't immobilized upon landing, being a Flyer (Hover) assault vehicle with frag launchers. If CSM players are whining about no drop pod, they ought to whine to Forgeworld that the Dreadclaw's a Fast Attack choice and not a dedicated transport.

And as of this posting, Forgeworld says they're out of stock for the Dreadclaw, yet still have Hell Talons and Hell Blades available (same book).

The second army I got into is the Iron Warriors. With the new codex and the secondary attachment list options of 6th Edition I may pull them out of the closet.

Also got a friend who's done CSM, is looking to do CSM again, and for the first time is seriously looking at Havoc squads (flak missiles, anyone?).

Baman | 10-07-12, 7:50 PM
Reading a butt-ton of whining around though, but not having been a CSM player before, it's hard for me to determine whether it's valid complaints or just the usual "ITS NOT WHAT I WANTED UAAAAAH" thing.
I do agree that it seems like a lot of opportunities were wasted though, what with no cult terminators and hardly any usable transport options. A droppod would be nice at least, and actually useful teleporting.

Had a flick through my friend's copy of the codex today (the special edition hardback one, which is pretty) and it seems competent. The new daemon engines look brutal both in gameplay and model terms.

Th new boon system is pretty cool too, although it'll require a few plays to see how it turns out and, since neither of us collect chaos, I can't help there.

Baman | 10-07-12, 9:32 AM
Waiting for a PDF first. But that kewl hardcover thing is kind of neat, so who knows, maybe I'll actually get it.
I hear there's a lot of needlessly pricey stuff though, but bikes and spawns being a lot better than before. Guess I'll have to realise my desire to make a Doomrider themed bike mob then. Massed cultists also seem like a game changer, but since I was planning to use them as allies for my Orks, it's not all that exciting for me, heh.

The new Chaos Space Marines codex is now out. Thoughts, opinions?

SpellBinder | 09-15-12, 9:32 PM
No, more like bringing closer to the fore that you don't have to wound a flying monster to make it possibly hit the ground, but just hit them with an attack. Like marker lights.

And just finished a game this Saturday with my first use of a Brotherhood Champion in 6th, and I am thus far pleased with the results.

Baman | 09-11-12, 8:32 PM
Oh shit, I just saw the ally updates from FW. FINALLY BATTLEBROTHERS FOR MY ORKS. And a dreadmob at that, not bad. Now to somehow get lots of Basilisk cannons or equivalent and chug out mean squads of Supa Kannon bigtrakks.

Seasonreaper | 09-11-12, 2:00 PM
What's this about flying monsters?

Did they make Flyrants useless and break one of the only significant benefits Tyranids got from 6th :|?

SpellBinder | 09-11-12, 12:39 PM
Not just nobz, but wolf guard and crisis shas'vre as well. Kinda makes sense, though.

But flying monsters and harlequins (with a shadowseer) will be a bit easier to deal with, and the Leman Russ 'plasma death' tank just got way better.

All in give & take.

Baman | 09-08-12, 8:27 AM
It sucks that nobz now only are characters if they lead a unit. No more lucky 6 sniper shots from bikernobz then.
Also, I don't really get why Aegis lines have to be deployed all connected, would have been cooler to be able to spread them out more.

New 6th Edition faqs just recently released. Thoughts and opinions?

SpellBinder | 07-23-12, 1:05 AM
Yeah, 'nids got nerfed a little with the change in fleet. Poison, though, is a plus. Overwatch is also a big ouch for those HtH armies (like 'nids & Knights).

Also just had a tournament last Saturday, and I gotta say that my opponents(all three IG players) [justifiably] hated my Vindicare and dreadknight "Tibbers". The dreadknight did ultimately die in each game, but not before drawing lots of fire and hate, and causing a fair amount of carnage in his own right. The assassin just wrecked things, like one-shotting a fortification and taking out half of a 20 man platoon that was in there.

6th Ed
Gun-heavy system
Tyranid player

...fuck.

SpellBinder | 07-19-12, 10:39 PM
Wow, not a whole lot of activity here.

Yeah, I like snapfire and (IIRC) wall of death with templates. Made my Executioner tanks sad, though a guy I know pointed out a really gross tactic for IG psykers.

Baman | 07-04-12, 1:51 PM
Snapfire. Orks. I am pleased.

SpellBinder | 07-04-12, 1:06 AM
Sixth Edition has been out for almost a week now. Just wondering what the thoughts are for those who actually peek in here every now and then.
