i haven't finished this manga yet, [im only on volume 2 lol, so don't spoil anything for me]

In the first volume it had that big picture of all the characters. There were around 7 characters who had big pictures and the rest of the classmates had little pictures. I think those 7 are the main characters. And 3 of them didn't have a sweat mark drawn on them, so i think those are the ones who will win maybe.
[3 characters = mitsuko, kazuo, shinji]

That would be awesome if i were right. So for those of you who have already read all of it, don't tell me if im right or wrong XD

Ehhh, personally I liked the movie better, the mange drug on way too long. It could have been about half the length that it was and still been just as good. But that's just my opinion. The movie was short, quick, violent, and too the point and I have to respect it for that, even if they did take a whole lot of artistic liberties with it.

As for anyone who has not read the novel, the publishing company Haika Soru just rereleased it stateside, new translation, new afterword by author, interviews with author, etc. Pretty much it's like a special edition 2-disc DVD for a book, highly recommended and under $20 for 700+ pages of fiction, not bad.

Battle Royale is one of the greatest manga out there, and one of my personal favorites. I didn't read the book, but manga is awesome, much better than the movie.

This club has been far too silent for far too long, any Indiana residents here? Perhaps Kentucky or southern Illinois? Anybody..?

I consider it a part of the series and everything but I don't really consider it as a flagstone. It's sort of like a spin off from the series. Not really necessary but worth seeing for more of a feeling of the universe and everything.

The second film was completely different: didn't feel anything like part of the series. It could have been a completely different script, but with names and title changed to become part of the series.
I stlill don't really count it as Battle Royale in my mind.

I do agree that the film wasn't very close to the book or manga at all, but I thought it was terrific in its own right. I just wish they wouldn't have taken the name since they didn't really follow the plot.

I agree, the flashbacks were nice every once in a while but after I realized that the novel was 600 pages and the manga was quadruple that, I kind of got a little pissed off. They really didn't need to expand the back stories of each character nearly that much. As for the film, one of the best extortion films to come out in a loooong time, that Ichi: The Killer and The Suicide Club.
