LOL just finished Toradora and walked past a mirror and saw that I was wearing my fierce yin and yang tiger vs dragon shirt pajamas xD! Thought that was a pretty odd/silly coincidence/accident/surprise haha

JC Staff is doing Golden Time... If that is what you meant...
The manga skips a bunch from the light novels, as has the anime. The anime has improved a few of the sections, from what I have read, and not been as good for a couple of others. In general, the original source material is usually best. True for Golden Time and Toradora!

Ahh gotcha. I wish jc did golden time. I could have prob gotten behind that

I'm a bit old-school, and when I was growing up, there was no manga translated into English. Anime was the only thing being translated back then. So I, like a lot of old-schoolers, never got into reading manga.

Really? Out of curiosity what made you choose the anime? I think the manga art is better and the anime va lineup was..far from what it could have been :/

I'm the other way Moe - I don't read manga, I only watch the anime. I will occasionally read a light novel, however

Manga gets translated so damn slow and I don't want to watch the anime...sucks :/ raws are 3 chapters ahead so tempted to wing it with my broken jp..

All hail Toradora!
Let's see if Golden Time has what it takes to deliver us something as good as this. ;)

The music director should be fired, background music does not fit the scene most of the time. Character development is quite jerky but still tolerable though, I think it will end up being much worse than Toradora :(

GT seems to be flowing OK. The last couple episodes have been good, and while I don't think it will equal Toradora1, it's not bad. I'll be starting Clannad just as soon as I finish up HSDxD and Inu X Boku SS.

YesterEve. 100% agree. Toradora never really had a dull moment.
I hope golden time turns out well. It seems decent but not toradora level. I think I'm going to end up like sakurasou a little less than golden time depending on how it goes.

I agree with FutureDiary that Clannad was good if you can stay awake but thats why Toradora is top of my list because it flows so well by giving you comedy while developing great character relations.

Episode 6 was really good. I like the steel the male mc is showing

Ain't it wonderful! 19 more! :D
| 11-04-13, 11:56 AM
Oh, I know zen - the main relationship is that the same author wrote both series. And yes, one of the big differences is that it's at college rather than HS. Actually quite unusual for an anime
The whole amnesia thing is a totally new aspect that Toradora! never really had to face
As I said, I'm liking what I've seen in the first 5 episodes, but there are still 19 more to go.

Other than the pentagonal structure (hexagonal if 2D ever gets to have a real girlfriend) and the general rom-com standard of people who are in love with "the wrong person" there aren't many real storyline similarities between Toradora! and Golden Time. Sure, at first you have the male protagonist trying to help the female protagonist with the guy she likes, but at the same time he is trying to help the guy avoid her.
In reality, he is just trying to be her friend, since she seems to be lacking them. It is very clear, very early, that Banri is going to fall for Kouko. The complications come in with is ... peculiar condition...
That said, there is a very similar vibe to it, since it is by the same author, in the same way that the Evergreen manga has a similar feel to it as well.
I strongly recommend it!
Do remember that it takes place in college, not high school, and there is occasionally behavior that is a bit more mature... or immature but with mature themes... than in something like Toradora! I just don't want people going into it thinking that it is really like high school rom-coms and
being shocked by the party scenes. (in a bad way... being shocked by them is normal...)
There should be more of those coming this week...

Clannad was alright, I kind of fell asleep at some episodes.
But the only reason why I'd recommend anyone watch Clannad is to get to Clannad AS. Literally, one of my favorite animes of all time.

I'm really liking golden Time. I'll be watching Clannad as soon as I'm finished with Inu X Boku SS

clannad is amazing. if u can get past the slow start you will melt your heart in gushy feels. the good kind of gushy feels. Clannad After story is one of the best things i've watched.
And golden time looks to be a lot like toradora. 2 ppl not meaning to fall in love just go right out and do it even though other people are in love with them. (At east I think its whats gonna happen)

Are there any storyline similarities between Golden Time & Toradora!?
Also, I'm told that if you like Toradora!, you should watch Clannad. Yet I'm also told it can be boring as hell. Recommendations?
