It seemed that I joined this club right as it was getting buried in its grave, but alas activity has decided to shed way. I need to re-watch FLCL so I can bask in the eccentric rhomp of psychedelic awesomeness that creates Fooly Cooly as we know it. I've just had too much to do, and I've still got so many other series I plan to watch that it's overwhelming, really.

I personally believe that with a few well-deserved hours of attention you can completely grasp the meaning and plot behind this show in just one viewing. Although, a second run through would probably reveal more to your mind than met the eye before, and some people may need to re-watch it to grasp it at all. Subjective as it may be, FLCL will always have a place in my heart.

it was clear to me after a few days of thinking about it and using wikipedia and imdb to look up quotes and info on it....
not a fan of tv i have to pay attention to but its still entertaining

Popka | 03-04-13, 2:13 PM
It's not that hard to get if you actually listen to what the characters are saying. I normally can at least see where people who criticize anime I like are coming from, but those who say FLCL is nonsense are simply not paying attention.

I agree with vizhmaster_vizhu
6 episodes is fine, FLCL is these 6 great episodes. cool music, funny characters, smart dialogues etc
but well, did you notice that its ratings here on mal are worsening?
i think people cannot appreciate it cause they don't try to understand it.
it's a gainax made anime after all. if you don't try to rewatch FLCL, then possibly you will call it random or meaningless.

vizhmaster_vizhu | 02-27-13, 5:32 AM
It wasn't released on TV so the proper way of watching it is to pause, rewind, and rewatch. and it's something you should rewatch and rewatch and rewatch IMO. Each episode is 20 minutes of pure quality. That's a good thing.

ozy | 02-24-13, 8:10 PM
I missed like half the dialogue because of the pacing, it was just too fast. And it was soo insane I couldn't get myself to rewatch

vizhmaster_vizhu | 02-24-13, 7:07 PM
I disagree. Part of what made flcl great was the low episode count and the quality of them. Pacing was just right IMO.

It would be hard to achieve the feel of the first season. Though I would like to see the limits of modern animation techniques.

ozy | 02-01-13, 2:35 PM
There should be like a second season of flcl with more than six eps and possibly a slower pace. That would help this club and the anime

im trying to keep this club alive but theres only a small group of people who actually enjoy this anime its kinda hard to keep it alive

ozy | 01-31-13, 10:04 PM

Oh yes. And the saddest fact is that not many people can appreciate this great anime. They don't even try to understand it. One of the most controversial anime out there.

Bayrock | 12-10-12, 1:29 PM
This'll be the first club I've joined, and I'm happy to say it's for one of my favorite anime Fooly Cooly. I'm just getting into the groove of things here after leaving my account sit for awhile, so without further adieu let me project a couple thoughts.

I'm quite new to anime in general, but I was easily able to grasp the story behind Fooly Cooly. What the viewer comes to find out though is that this anime is not great because of its story.. oh no.. it's much better than that. FLCL was able to deliver a unique ride of pleasure and meaning to me that has yet to be met by anything else I've seen. The art is stunning, the music is prodigious, and the main characters are even deeper than portrayed.

The exact meaning behind FLCL could be controversial, but I believe ones personal interpretation of it is what truly makes it a masterpiece in my eyes. I'm also going to pickup the gainax print for this as my first manga. Overall, Furi Kuri is something I'd recommend to everyone who enjoys anime; maybe even doesn't enjoy it. This is the kind of thing that can get someone into the vast universe we call anime.

Hope I can get to know some of the club!

About FLCL...Funny? Yes. Surrealistic? Of course. Insane? Sure. RANDOM? No way! This anime is one of its kind. Many ppl think Fooly Cooly is random and meaningless, but they just don't get it. The plot is not easy to understand(typical of GAINAX), cause everything moves at the speed of light and the story is full of symbolism and references. Not to mention the awesome design, the great animation, the special characters and the splendid music (by the Pillows). If you want to follow Flcl's storyline, you must be experienced anime-watcher.

same. in every aspect of that comment. except i had to replace my first dvd, it wore out completely

nollypoli | 07-06-12, 11:32 AM
Ah, yes, FLCL. On my first day of registration I head straight for you. Always have been obsessed with this show. I can remember buying the dvd and watching it every single goddamn day one year.

I literally wore that dvd out. Part of an episode no longer works.

ozy | 06-28-12, 10:47 PM
lucjy a friend had flcl, i watched it oveer 2 days. at first even after the end i was still like wtf i dont get it, but as with alot of shows a little time and forgetting stuff makes it make sense

Thorn_Pilgrim | 11-18-11, 2:01 PM
Really? I haven't heard of that happening to DVDs. Heard of it happening to tapes, but I realize DVDs don't last forever either. I know it's on blu-ray.

When I first into it, I didn't buy it because it was on TV and I didn't want to watch it too much and lose my enjoyment of it . . . but SynchPoint went out of business. XD
