Because it's a common archive format that can split into multiple parts and doesn't require being "remerged" (just save all the RARs to the same dir and unpack the first one)
or just use 7zip. opens 90% of the compression formats. open source too. byebye proprietary software.

You can set the byte field in the wizard to 100000000 or 104857600 (depends if they mean 100Megabytes or 100Mebibytes) when making the archive.
