A new era is about to begin with the announcement that the settlement of space has commenced. but as the calendar change ceremony is in progress, the space station Laplace, official residence of the Earth Federation prime minister, is shattered by a terrorist bombing.
A young man named Siam, who joined the terrorist because of poverty, is caught in the explosion of Laplace and discovers something amid the wreckage. This is the forbidden box that will later be known as Laplace's Box.

A youth named Banagher Links, who grew up without knowing his father, meets a mysterious girl who has stowed away on a ship bond for Industrial 7. As the white mobile suit Unicorn undergoes repeated tests and becomes the subject of diverse speculations, the hands of time begin to move.
Banagher does not yet know that he has been caught up in the conflicts surrounding Laplace's Box.

The first episode of Gundam Unicorn, “The day of unicorn”, will be available in Japan in the following ways:
* From February 20th to March 5th, it will be screened in five theaters (Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Sapporo and Fukuoka). The privileged ones who assist this screening are allowed to purchase the Blu-Ray Disc before its official release date. It specifications will be announced on the official website on January 20th.
* From February 20th, the first episode of Gundam Unicorn will be available on the japanese PlaystationStore [it is the "Internet" release previously announced].
* On 2010 March 12th, it will be available on Blu-Ray (5.040 JPY) and DVD (3.990 JPY).
No information about the worldwide release.

A television series of Gundam Unicorn would be too watered down and censored due to Adult themes that were in the novel such as Teenage Drug use of Crack and Marijuana, Child prostitution and rape.
