Mobile Suit Gundam 00 is the latest series in the longrunning Gundam franchise and the first to be set in the Anno Domini timeframe.

Due to diminishing amounts of fossil fuels, solar energy has become the new frontier and vast sets of solar power arrays now orbit the earth supported by the orbital elevators established by the Earth's three major powerblocks; The AEU, The HRL, and the Union. As a result of this these main powers and their allies have flourished, but many other countries of the world have become poverty stricken and wartorn.

Celestial Being, brainchild of the genius Aeolia Schenberg, is a private organisation dedicated to uniting the peoples of Earth and eliminating all war... through force, if necessary.
Veda, the supercomputer at the heart of Celestial Being, has chosen four young men to become Gundam Meisters, pilots of advanced mobile suits known as Gundams: weapons with the power to change the world.
