This club was founded on the belief that dubbing an anime makes it lose all purpose, basically destroying it. Anyone who prefers subs or Raws over dubs are welcome. Long live Subs and RAWs!

I recommended Maison Ikkoku to my friend and he saw EVERY 96 EPISODES in English dub... FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU he totally ruined my day

It's so sad that in my absence this club evaporated. Though the same will happen with any non-singular group with no origin; without a nucleus, the cell will fail.

lazlain: Yeah, I've watched it a few years back.. It really didn't seem all that captivating to me and the voices.. It just wasn't pulling me into the story at all really... I couldn't really put up with it to the end.. I think I stopped around where she was running through this Doujo.. I really can't remember it.

*nods* Too true. My friend was showing me something yesterday that further proved that point that author's do not get a say, nor do they approve of their works. So not only do they have no respect for the author, but not the series either.. Talk about OOC..

Also, I find when someone says " For your information, I've met this person in person.. and I can tell you that they hold a great amount of "respect" for the characters and the series that they do.. I find this person to be a great va and yada yada.. " You basically just start laughing at the foolishness. It's a farce, the point above about the author not having a say and them not respecting them enough shoots holes into their little play.

If the person truly had such "passion" for the series and characters they voice/do.. then it wouldn't be so bad now would it. They would have at least gone out of their way to hire descent actors like the Japanese companies do (since they do not like such shoddy works) and would have brought such emotion to the role. They would have also done their research.. Plus if they had respect then why would they say something that only insults the character they play.. Jee that is really respectful isn't it.. *sighs* I guess some people forget that this person acts and can easily fool this, but their words and performance cannot hide the truth now can it.. Sorry, rambling..

Oh take a load at these post.. I can't help but be gleeful at how true they are. Especially about the silly dub lovers.. Hah.. Funny.

Generally, fan subs are almost always the way to go ... unless you're in Asia or near Japan. To be honest, some of the english dubs there are actually good or even comparable to Japanese dub. Unfortunately, it's not the same in the Western world where any well-done dub is a gem to be treasured for eternity.

Obviously, the dub was made to milk the fanbase.

Has anyone watched the dub for Spirited Away?
I had difficulty rating it because of the voice acting.
Something felt wrong throughout the movie.

@Vosgy: Fan translations on dvds and manga are usually (who am I kidding, mostly always) better than the the other. That's for sure...

@lazlain: Agreed. No wonder they are selling... Serves them right. Plus I don't even think that the author likes the dub. After all, an anime is only made over their upon a fan vote, or the author sells the liscense so that the manga/book gets more publicity. (Want an example: Rick Roirdan states this in the frequently asked questions on his site)

@Lazhward: I get it, yet it is confussing at the same time.. *sighs* I guess they just let their minds become so corrupt by one thing or another that it blocks the senses...

Did you know, someone actually made a stamp on DA that says "Proud to be a Dub Lover".. LOL I find it funny.. There is only 14 favs, and the comments are mostly just the author talking to those that responded.. so really there aren't all that many comments...And this person actually tried to rub this in my face.. Hah!! Sorry, just thought it would be a funny thing to share... Oh, she also tried to rub some lame review in my face stating it was an actual critic.. I'm sorry to say, but a critic does not act like a jolly-rancher.

Found a terrible sub not long ago, bought the Spice and Wolf DvD's cause I loved the show and though It's good to support the shows I really like. Put them no and went oh my god the voices are bad, put it back to original voices with subs and went oh my god these subs are crap, then got my TV rips with Fan subs out and went oh my god not only are the subs better but the quality of my rips is better then my DVD's. LOL

To be honest, Kuroshitsuji is not my cup of tea but, based on your reply, I've found a dub worthy to be added to my list of 1/10 anime titles.
That is seriously messed up. Even if the voice actors don't have the best voices and the script is terrible, their acting should have the right emotions and portray the character's personality.
For crying out loud, this is PROFESSIONAL ACTING.
Stop disrespecting the Japanese VAs who have put so much effort.

The fact they actually watch the dubs should explain it right? xD I mean, if you would care about the original intentions/voices/personalities, then you should watch the subs I think. Because they watch dubs instead of subs makes me think they don't care anyway, which they've basically proven themselves in that forum you mentioned =P Don't ask me why they wouldn't care though, I don't understand that myself either x3
