Bah, I wish doremi would hurry up. It's so tempting to just watch another fansub group.

thats not what i understood, what i understood is that he wasn't military anyway, and he didn't blindly follow Maximilian, he did know what he was doing, now selveria was blindly following maximilian, Jaeger did think about everything and constantly questioned if it was right or wrong, and usually went along anyway, thats not blindly following. certainly not at ep 24 were he did go against Maximilian. he remained himself and didn't regred his past actions, he simply no longer agreed with Maximilian's true way's now uncovered. Besides fighting to certain death might be honourable, but its also stupid and reckless. I would have fought to the end, but at least he didn't flee the field like a coward and accepted his defeat and his new leader too. That too is a form of honour. And he did fight for HIS country just in a different way. Something few people seem to understand is that collaborators usually love their countries far more then normal people or even resistance members, just in a extremist different way! so i say Jaeger is honourable (also honourable is different for everyone, since everyone can have a different opinion about it). so in a way he never really surrendered. he just went on fighting under the next flag in name of his country.

Kyuu is right, but remember up until now Jaeger has been blindly following Maximillian just so that he could regain recognition for his home nation.

So you can't really call Jaeger "honorable" without considering his past, even though the battle was hopeless he surrendered his nation to the empire and joined their ranks. Even though it was smart it doesn't get anymore traitorous.

KyuuA4 | 10-12-09, 10:15 AM
Correct. Determining "good guy" vs "bad guy" is not done by allegiance but rather by character.

Gotomtom | 10-12-09, 10:07 AM
Jeager is not a bad guy, he's just on the other side. That alone doesn't make hem bad. That fat general that got nuked by selveria was bad. Jeager was an honourable person, one i could accept losing too. But against someone like that fat ass or maximilian i'd just fight untill they are dead with no other option, not even death! If i were a high commander i'd gladly recruit someone like Jeager. He does care about his men (meaning less of them die, and lets be honest, dead soldiers only help your enemy, unless they were enemies.) and he has something worth fighting for. selveria on the other hand, with all respect was just a dumbass. out of all people i would be one of the last to say this, but loyalty has its limits. And she still died for him o.O Gregor, i'm not sure. The incident with that deserter at the hut during the storm night, he seemed to really respect Alicia and Welkin for burring that deserter even though deserting is close to treason. But usually he didn't seem to be bothered by letting hsi men die. So i agree Jeager is definitely the best.

I believ I saw him too, no I'm pretty sure it was him

nvm he's the best villain in this anime, no doubt about it. maximillian had the best joice (ya, jun fan nvm), but jaeger was definitely the best bad guy x) xD

KyuuA4 | 10-11-09, 10:17 PM
Nah. He died sticking to his principles. Nothing shameful about that.

MrRogers | 10-11-09, 10:15 PM
But he wasn't going to try to stop him. Whatever the reason, Jeager is just too badass to die.
